I am curious if there is ever going to be a fix to this since empowerment of shadows boosts dot crit chance by 8% but Wizards get 0 dots ever so it is 100% broken or worthless.
Where are you getting this? The Wiz epic augment further reduces the hate generated on detrimental spells cast (the Epic 2.0 focus), it doesn't have anything to do with DoT.

Zam can have some cut-and-paste errors with old content. Look up at the top of that page under "Description", item 1: It will say 8% decrease in hate, which stacks with the 6% decrease from the focus on the weapon. That's the benefit of the augment.
There are 7 different effects called Empowerment of Shadows, all for various epic 2.5's. I believe the in game description is likely just pulling bad data from the wrong effect. Still worth a bug report to fix the display.
