    What is soloable at 115?

What can players singly hunt around 113+ in ToV.

What is the experience for a new player, to buy ToV and start playing EQ like?

Where is the road block where the new player says, this is pointless?

It is very hard to get groups LFG. It is very hard to get in good guilds unless you know exactly how to aug, flag, etc to be allowed to be in these high end guilds.
There are casual guilds that really don't get into maxing out AA's on 115's.
There are no pick up raids.

Basically auto programs are helping players box so there is a lack of socialism to help the new player out like there was back in the day.

So what is the future of this game actually like for new players?

It depends on what Class you are for what players can solo. Personally as a Shaman, I found Crystal Caverns and Ry'Gorr Mines to be very easy to solo without a merc. Different classes will have different answers.

Same answer for 113, I was soloing Ry'Gorr at 111 with no merc. You just need to find an area/mobs that play to your class strengths. As a Shaman that is root rotting, I look for mobs that don't summon or have crazy AE/DD abilities that I can root. There's other ways to solo as a Shaman using a Merc/Pet but I prefer root rotting when doing stuff with just 1 toon.

The Road Block will vary based on the player and what class, some people are more determined to pick themselves up and try again after failing while others will die/fail and rage quit. It depends on the player really.

Yes, LFG is a lot harder than it use to be. Get out into the expansion ask groups that are actively killing if they have room. If not head to the zone you need stuff in and try soloing, if you see someone else come into zone ask if they want to join you. Sitting in PoK or Lobby with LFG up is about the worst thing you can do now a days. Be active and making an effort and you'll have a lot better chance at finding others to group with.

We have Pick Up raids every week on Povar, I know other servers as well run pick up raids. Not all servers have them but if players are looking to get into raiding maybe check out which servers run them on a day/time that works best for them and transfer over.

Everquest is definitely not new player friendly, especially on Live Servers. The TLP servers are probably the best option for people playing for the first time or coming back to EQ after many many years away. It's not impossible to start out on Live and get caught up but it will take a lot of work and dedication. Heroics are a good starting point for live but for first time players they can be a little overwhelming.

The future of EQ for new players are TLP servers, unless you know people on Live who can get you up to speed.

One debate topic- quite a few servers do have open raids. Cazic, BB, Xegony, Polar come to mind. I am sure there are others.

I agree with this, the entire Live game is a roadblock and TLPs are the best place for new players. I think that’s why they attempted Mirgaul as a TLP. They wanted to give new and returning players a more modern entry point to the game.

At 115 I can Molo (merc+solo) most anything in the open world. But that is 115 with Max aa and raid gear. There is a lot that comes in to play when asking what you can / can't do. Gear, AA, Skill level.
I know a bard on Povar that not raided in over 10 year and he able to solo everything other then missions. He plays solo most the time and has more /ach then I would say 80% of all players. He enjoys playing but has put his family first so he only log in after then are in bed. based on his play times. he don't see many people on so does most things on his own and has found ways to get it done.

Around 113 you can hunt any where. If you talking about soloing it will be based on what class you are.

I have a friend that just returned to the game and start a new char he never play before. with in 4 weeks he made it to 114. So I not seeing any issues or blocks for new players it just a matter of what they want to do.

Getting good groups is not about using LFG. it about making friends. if you find one person that play when you play your set. build on that. If you need help finding ppl to play with Join facebook. Discord or post of the forms here. you need to find people your level and that play when you do. set times to meet up and you can get things done.

I know one friend that has a group on another server that they play for 1-2 hour once a week and they are progressing on their earring quest. so again it not about just random lfg but more about making friends with ppl that play when you play and working together.

This is basically what I tell every new player I run into:

If you're truly a brand-new player, don't even think about the current expansion for the first couple of months you play. Concentrate on exploring older content, which you can do for free on a Live server, and learning the basics of how to play the class you have chosen. Pick a few goals from the achievement list and see how easy or difficult you find them to be. I personally recommend doing the Hero's Journey questline, which can take you from 1-85 in a couple of weeks, maybe less if you have longer blocks of play time available. At that point you will hit your first real wall, you won't be able to earn any more AA points as a free player, and you'll need to subscribe to continue with your progression. By then you'll know if the game sticks with you, and also by then you will hopefully have crossed paths with a few other players in guilds. You'll always be able to spot other players in PoK or Crescent Reach.

A TLP server is also an option, but I don't recommend them for a brand new player. The newest servers have a toxic environment among a large % of the player base. The ones more than a year old are just as top-heavy as Live servers, perhaps even more so, and they will be less likely to have guild-sponsored casual raiding when you're ready for that, meaning it's either hard-core raiding or none at all. Of course you're committed to subscribing immediately if you go that route. The starting content you're paying to play on a TLP is all there and available on any Live server.

Socializing is more important than any combat skill. You'll be able to pick up lots of friendly advice along the way. EQ is meant to be fun, not worry.

Open Raid Insanity hits three to four ToV raids every Tuesday @ 7:30PM on the Xegony server.

The raid tends to last 1.5-2 hours. The gear is all rolled off. Invites start @ 7:00PM and are first come first serve until class balance becomes an issue. You must be level 115 to participate.

    /join OpenRaidInsanity for more details

    Everyone is welcome.

Most servers have casual raids (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

As for getting groups. That's a social problem (more difficult now since almost everyone is done with the expansion). Make some friends. Offer to join groups even if it's not your perfect group to meet people. Ask intelligent questions how to get better to other members of your class. A lot of people will attempt to take a new/returning player under their wing - another way to break the ice.

Firstly a new players won't be in the newest expansion, so getting a group there, being able to solo etc isn't worth discussing.

Step 1 for a new player is the tutorial, they need to learn the basics before they step into the rest of Norrath. Even before they try a TLP. I've found there is usually a few players here any live servers so it is a good place to start making friends.

After that if staying on live servers after that I'd suggest going the TSS route, much of it can be soloed or moloed. This maybe different if they have made friends in the tutorial or already have friends on the server. I would also hightly suggest joining a family type guild, somewhere where they can get help and groups.

This time of year is a good time to start playing as many have finished the latest expansion and are messing around with alts.
