That would be my preferred theory. Still sad but preferred.

Ship to Ship, technically, was part of TBS (instanced missions). It isn't what you may expect, however.

In addition to ship to ship can we hire Overseer assassin pirates to kill automated groups camping nameds? (j/k...well not really)
-Next xpac should MOAR Iksar / MOAR Kunark cause there can never be enough Iksar worship in Everquest

    Like this?

Getting rid of bots is an attractive idea.

All seriousness the next xpac once the 2nd part? of Velious is done should be Luclin. Update Mons Letalis or w/e zone that unfinished Combine Tower is ... someone finishes it and, oops, it goes to the unlit side of the moon where Luclin resides.
Imagine dark, airless zones where everyone floats (no Pennywise does not live there) with some bug eyed Akhkevan servants (they lost their sight due to darkness) who are vampires? (can't be much food on the dark side of the moon). This time let's do without the snakes cause I've been kicking shissar tail so long they can't possibly want to fight anymore.
All loot drops in this zone should feature ultravision, enduring breath (although probably nobody needs it...lore though!), more luck and some cool clickies that zip us around to various spots.
Throw in some crowd pleasers like an enhanced keyring to store MOAR stuff, centralized item storage to free up bank/house/alt space and I think you'll have a winner.

You don’t contract against immediate sniping in the US?

There would have been some penalty for my x-boss if he had sniped me after moving to a big company, within the first year.

Sniping occurs here sometimesand more often after 12 months after the boss leaves :). I believe it takes the edge of some of the sniping, and the old company has a year to get their shuut together and be extra nice to key employees... but it seems like a very danish thing to do, also.

In this case, the circumstance is that both Holly and Prathun have served EQ for so long, and there are not that many good places to go for MMO-specialists, I would assume. They went above and beyond for EQ, for what, 18 years or so? No one can ask for more...

Of course I would love them to return to EQ after a period with WoW, full of new energy and inspiration :).

Is it confirmed that Prathun went to Blizzard?

Would love to hear from them, even though I don’t care for WoW (played it for some years).

I think this may be best moved to another thread where it would be on-topic.

I would like expansions between EQ and EQ2 to be co-developed.

For example going back to time travel a la Seeds of Destruction, having lore from the two games’ expansion being co-written.

Maybe some mirrored quest: can be be done from each direction of time travel = EQ travels forward, EQ2 travels backward. Quest is the same or very similar in both games, but revealing different lore details, so that to get the full picture, both lore versions should be read.

Perhaps some kind of Sleeper-event across games, where some raid has to be completed in both games, on all Live servers, in order to unlock a final ultra-raid... make it so hard that it is impossible before next level increase, to create suspense and epic’icity...

Good old Zebuxoruk is probably all alone, he could use some visits from adventurers :).

It would be harder to develop, but more grandiose and epic, and it would tie the communities and cross-temporal lore more together. Maybe there could be some shared elements wrt cost, for example voice acting, and maybe the expansions could have a bit more content, since there would be contributions from both dev teams.

Could be fun if travelling to the future version of a (new or reimagined) zone in EQ would be going to the version that is current in EQ2, and vice versa, playing on the time gap. “Current” and “future/past” are of course all developed for the new expansion, whether they are reimagined or not...

You are right of course, I apologize.

If you worked at a place that likes to have layoffs around Christmas every year would you not also entertain other avenues of employment?
  11. Corwyhn Lionheart Guild Leader, Lions of the Heart

The current version of those is more like this.

Just to make it completely clear, I was thinking of using the Terminators in-game. Using them in the real world could be an option in the future. Muahahahahahaha

If you plan to just recycle old content with updates and minor changes, you do not need Sr. level experience. In a downturn economy, you cut costs. Payroll is one of the largest and first budgets to cut.

We will be lucky to get an expansion this year.

I think we will soon see 2 year expansions, with small events in between, maybe a new zone similar to GMM. Recycling old zones as "event zones" that they can turn on and off to keep us paying.

If they do plan to do this, they need to implement zone scaling and gear scaling so they can prolong the slow slow death..

The recently released U.S. GDP report was on of the worst ever. With that in mind, many companies will be hard pressed to maintain staffing levels over at least the next 18 months, much less increase them. Companies like Amazon will flourish because they fit the changed paradigm in this viral era. I think Daybreak will survive. By all accounts Everquest is still profitable and that gives me hope for the near future. Also, I am still hoping for a black polo shirt with a gold EQ logo. :) Hint Hint Christmas is coming.

Will there be an expansion this year? Good question, I am tempted to say yes because it is a revenue center and will look good to those poor saps who have to wear suits to work. Perhaps, a two part expansion? Lots of room for speculation.

Assume that I am ignorant. A very reasonable assumption in this case. What does "zone scaling and gear scaling" actually mean? I think I know, but I am also quite likely to be wrong.

Lets not. We've been there . Done that. Lets not learn from past mistakes.

No, it's not a good sign at all. :( GDP, though is archaic and many economists that are a heck of a lot more intelligent about such things than I am say it's time for GDP to be replaced by new metrics. Covid is placing that right out on display for everyone to see, now. I threw my 401k statement I recently received into a filing cabinet, unopened. I don't want to know how many cars I've lost this year haha :) Thank goodness I'm in my 40's and not retiring any year soon.

You have instances or named that scale to your level when you kill them. They drop an item with the same name but the attributes are scaled to your level. Whether they make the gear level with you is also an option. Otherwise, you kill the mob at 100, get lvl 100 gear, kill the mob at 115 and get lvl 115 gear.

    Thank you. I wasn't completely wrong. :)

Not all business suffer in hard times.

People tend to consume more small “treats” like good chokolate, substituting larger ones.

Given this, I could see EQ doing just fine, as it could be seen as a small “treat” (also boosted by the lockdown). Few things are as cheap pr hour played as EQ, and there are fortunately also some F2P-options for cost cutting options.

Should we get back to topic? :-D
