Well, if you're willing to go to that much trouble, you deserve to know who's on the same account. But at that point, are you even playing EQ anymore?

And, wow, I thought this much detective work was limited to game like EVE Online ;)

That’s quite some mental gymnastics you’ve got going there.

At the end of the day if someone says something that you don’t want to see, it’s the person saying the thing, not the i game character. If you want them on your ignore list, it makes sense that none of thier characters chat should be seen by you.

Also, i fail to see how it’s a “punishment” or “retribution” given that the person won’t even be aware you’ve ignored them. It just means you don’t have to put up with any of thier BS anymore. That’s the whole point of an ignore feature.

The ignore feature is there to stop you seeing chat you’re not interested in seeing. You’re not gagging anyone or silencing them, you’re stopping yourself from seeing them. They can still continue to say whatever they want, and people who want to see it will continue to do so. All you’re doing is taking yourself away from the situation.

Daybreak you should consider doing something about a single person on Povar who is now creating characters with names that make it very hard to add to ignore. At least add the ability to click on the name and add to ignore.

This guy needs to dealt with.

Daybreak, you're the people in charge. Action is needed. Won't take you long to figure out who needs dealt with.

    4) People selling stuff in general chat
    5) people selling cross server.

Despite completely disagreeing your reasoning behind using general channel to peddle goods, you are completely correct about account ignores. One of the things that WoW does far better than EverQuest is how it manages friends lists. EverQuest allows far too much anonymity and ability to harass as anyone can just reroll anything and pretend to be anyone. The ability to RP is fine and all but when someone crosses the lines, they should not be able to continue the behavior under a new name.
