    Greetings all

My char was made in June of 99, so pretty early, and I quit around the Legacy of Ykesha time-frame. So I'm level 60 and was fairly well-equipped for the time. Was in a major raiding guild back in the day. Obviously behind the times now. I have a lot of emotional investment in this char, so I want to get it up to speed rather than start over.

After some messing around with logins and passwords, I was finally able to get my character up and logged in.

Needless to say, I couldn't even sort out my spells, didn't remember which zones were where, and was a hot mess. I rolled up a new char just to do the tutorial and not have to worry too much about losing anything.

I'd like to get re-acquainted with my character on my own schedule. I don't even feel like I want to group up just yet since I'm such a disaster.(I think there are some new items in my bank too, not sure about those.)

I'd love it if I could get some suggestions on places to solo for a bit, preferably undead, that would be suitable. I'm not even after massive XP, just want to feel comfortable and at least earn something for it. AA suggestions, spells, gear, anything helpful would be appreciated.

You didn't immediately ask this question but here are a few tips as you start.

    1. Maps now show you how to get to each zone. When you open the map window, click zone guide at the top right. You set your starting zone and end zone you want to go to and it helps you get there - either by giving you a yellow vapor trail to follow or by putting a red X on the map as to the next zone line. So very helpful when you don't recall the directions.
    2. Make sure to select 'autogrant' on your alternate advancement window (hit v) in the upper righthand corner. As you level (above lvl 60, etc.) you'll earn AA's automatically so you don't have to worry about leveling and AA'ing at the same time.
    3. Get yourself a mercenary (which you can in Plane of Knowledge) These are "hired" AI characters that do some limited functions. A lot might say get a tank (warrior) merc but I found leveling to be a bit faster with a wizard merc as you still have to heal them like you would a tank merc but you get better DPS so kills go quicker.
    4. Don't forget to check /claim - there will be larger sized bags there, potions you can use to gain experience quicker, mounts and more.
    5. In your inventory window (hit I), you'll see a spot marked 'key rings'. Click that and you can now put any horses/mounts, familiars and illusions that you own there so they don't take up bag space. And then you can just click what you want to use.
In terms of leveling, while the site is mostly dead, there are some older resources on eqclerics.org.

    Very helpful, thank you!

Question: I'm reading about the Heroic Character boost. Is there a downside to doing this for my old character or should I plan on grinding it out the old-fashioned way.

If you were higher than 85 there can be a downside (as it overwrites spell ranks I believe; been a while since I used it on a higher char), but otherwise, there really is no downside other than if you wanted to experience something in that level range.
