I am charged $14.99 each month for EQ. I just noticed I got charged $16.27 for EQ yesterday. I have not logged into the game for around six weeks or so, so I know it was not an in game purchase. Did DBG increase the per month charge? If not, any thoughts as to why the increase?
Interesting, because that has not happened for the 20 plus years I have paid. Must have just passed in my state....
It was always supposed to apply, but it didn’t used to be enforced. Now, so much activity is being done online versus brick and mortar that it’s tax revenue.
Only Florida, Kansas, and Missouri don't tax internet sales now. These ones just started enforcing one: Arizona (October 1, 2019) Arkansas (July 1, 2019) Idaho (June 1, 2019) New Mexico (July 1, 2019) Oklahoma (November 1, 2019) Pennsylvania (July 1, 2019) Rhode Island (July 1, 2019) Tennessee (July 1, 2019) Texas (October 1, 2019) Virginia (July 1, 2019) Massachusetts, Ohio, and Oklahoma have a variation that requires X amount of sales in the state by the company, which daybreak may not meet.
Except those two local services are not paid by state taxes. *or shouldn't be...but it is your state /shrug
It's not cut and dry, the sales tax rules can vary based on industry. Some states also don't make you charge sales tax unless you have employee's or some sort of office/warehouse based in the state.
Some online stores, outside of Texas, pre-emptively started charging me taxes years ago to cover their own butts because they knew this was coming.
