My husband and I tried to enter several ports in Ethernere (Argin Hiz, Neriak) and we were kicked to the safe spot in Ethernere with a message :"This zone is not ready to receive visitors yet. Please try in a few moments." Do you know when the Call of the Forsaken portals in Ethernere will be fixed?
Assuming you are attuned, as mentioned previously: are you both gating/porting to another location in the zone before trying this? The message in particular sounds like that old bug where you are in zone A, and port to a different location in zone A (bind spot), and the portals/zonelines to other zones give that error. If yes, you might try camping and reloading from character select.
