Server needs more porters, free or otherwise.

Years I've been able to port others: 19.75
Times I've taken plat to do so: < 5

I did accept plat that was offered a few times when I first got group ports back in '99. It felt kinda icky so I stopped.

I respect others right to to port for plat so I do not advertise free ports but if I'm standing there and someone needs a port, I will do it for free.

Like Kloodge, I always port, buff, rez for free. I never accept donations, not even on new servers. In fact, I ran my cleric from Seb entrance in TT to EJ zoneline to rez someone and declined the tip. I had the mana, it creates goodwill, why not? My porter this time around is on Mangler, so not doing ports. =) And when PoP opens and my enchanter is sitting there enchanting for my tradeskills and someone asks for buffs/enchants, I will do that free too.

There's too many "internet tough guys", so I try to be the nice guy in game and help out how/when I can.

I'll port people for free only if I have a clarity based buff, otherwise I ll take donations.

You must evolve into the mom’s basement dwelling eq savage who has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and at a minimum, charge plat to port.

You don't even have to port anymore, you can translocate now. Nothing wrong with being helpful. Especially when it requires 0 effort.

I don't actively advertise one way or another. I just say "porting to all wizard locations from X tunnel in the Nexus". If someone doesn't pay, whatever, I'm not gonna make a forum post about it. But the fact is that about 95%+ of all people that take the port will give a donation. Only reason I even bothered was because it seemed like there was always a ton of port requests in the Nexus and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was easy to make 500-1k pp per hour just doing TLs on my tablet while at work.

I gave my leftover half of my sandwich from lunch the other day to a homeless guy and refused his handful of pennies and nickels he tried to donate for it.

You're doing something wrong if people giving free buffs cuts into your bottom line of plat that you made a forum post. I have never offered to port/buff people in public channels, but I'll do it if someone is asking and they're nearby. I never ask for donations, but won't cancel a trade if they do.


Theres so many more lucritive ways to make money that are almost as easy as porting. Its hilarious that you think the people doing stuff for free are the ones that are awful.

Its hilarious how upset you are over other people being nice. I fully agree with your other post about the Wild West rules of DPS racing, gate charming, and dispelling, whatever it takes to win, i completely agree with that. But part of that is I think people should be able to play the game how they want. If they enjoy being nice and helping people thats cool. If you want to contest mobs by any means necesary and upset others doing it too, I also think thats cool.

Its not about socialsm in EQ, its about libertarianism and letting the people decide and enforce whats acceptable. But trolling on the forums because your upset about people not charging, its hilarious.

Pity ports are a vital part of the eq economy. High levels should tip every time based on what kind of port they got:

Punt from nexus: 50-70p
Group port from nexus: 100-200
Pick up from some random zone plus a group port: 200-250

Add 50 plat for every additional person ported/punted in this equation.
