NOTE: Minor changes have been made to the announcement posts as well as what they did announce in an easier to read format. This is pretty much what I've heard said repeatedly as to what they should have done.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SelosThe Selo Server will be a "fast" or "casual" Progression Server. Double the experience rates of Ragefire & Lockjaw at their launches. Raid instances can be done more often (3.25 days) Rares have a higher chance to spawn (+% ?) Faction is earned faster (+% ?) Expansions unlock every 16 weeks FV loot ruleset Pre-nerf item drops Starting Era: Classic TrueBox ruleset is not included in this TLP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mangler Experience rates the same as Ragefire & Lockjaw at their launches. Raid instances can be done every (2.25 days) Rares have a higher chance to spawn (+% ?) Faction is earned faster (+% ?) Expansions unlock every 16 weeks FV loot ruleset Pre-nerf item drops Starting Era: Classic TrueBox ruleset is included in this TLP No focus items More experience lost on death (not including DeathTouch deaths) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Personally, I'd still play on Selos and hope my raid guild would also still play on Selos. However, the above changes would be FAR FAR more suited to Casual vs Hardcore than currently announced. If anyone has some better ideas on differentiating changes please share !
Few problems and some major issue's not addressed. Raid Lockouts - whats the point in 2.25 or any x.25 days? So you clear first boss at Monday 8pm, it's back up on Thursday 2am? Why? 2.25 may aswell be 3 days, 3.25 = 4 days, etc. SeloThis is the "casual" or "slow" server. Double the experience rates of Ragefire & Lockjaw at their launches. Raid instances can be done more often (3.9 days) Rares have a higher chance to spawn (200%) Faction is earned faster (200%) Expansions unlock every 10 weeks Starting Era: Classic TrueBox Raid Bosses drop 3x the loot All zone flagging is removed ManglerThis is the "hardcore" or "fast" server. Double experience rates of Ragefire & Lockjaw at their launches. Raid instances can be done more often (2.9 days) Rares have a higher chance to spawn (200%) Faction is earned faster (200%) Expansions unlock every 4 weeks Starting Era: Classic TrueBox Raid Bosses drop 5x the loot All zone flagging is removed Why? Raid Loot: A 4 week unlock needs at least 5x the loot drops. This means if a boss drops a chest, it will drop 5 chests instead. Similarly a 10 week unlock will drop 3x the loot, or 3 chests. Example with Mangler, a hardcore guild can kill a boss twice per week, so that's a total of 8 possible boss kills per expansion (lets say an average of 6 kills because of XPing, not killing on lockout etc). A Live server guild probably kills a boss 50? times per expansion. So 6 kills on Mangler x 5 loot = 30 kills per expansion. Obviously flagging needs to be removed on a 4 week unlock, that's a no brainer. Casuals don't want flagging on 10 week unlocks either.
For me, Selo would look like thisSelo"casual" or "slow" server. Double the experience rates of Ragefire & Lockjaw at their launches. Rares have a higher chance to spawn (200%) Faction is earned faster (200%) Expansions unlock every 16 weeks (4 months) Starting Era: Kunark (Need the extra zones to spread the population out more). Plus epic quests are available TrueBox All zone flagging is removed
The 0.25 of a day means its actually 3days...so 3.25 is actually 4 days. This allows for "underlapping" to occur. So that you can raid the same time every week, but having it still not be "a week". What happens with exact times is "time creep" starts happening. So if you start a raid at 8pm on a Saturday, and it's exactly 7 days, it means that if you don't click that button 100% at 8:00pm exactly you'll add minutes on to your actual start time. So one week it's 8:00, next it turns out you can't click it until 8:06pm cause you didn't click the button 100% at 8:00. After a month this timer lockout turns into something weird like 9:46pm. Slowly inching your raid further back. This is why they do the .25 or not entirely full day times. 3.25 means every 4 days you can have a raid at the exact same time for the same raid.
Can't seem to edit my OP anymore, but yea maybe 16weeks is a bit much. 12 probably works better? But every 8 weeks right now is a little too fast for hardcore raid guilds. Mine has been one of the best throughout most TLPs, and even we're like "wow, that's a bit too fast, we'll barely have time to breath!". D:
Or, because they are as hardcore as they've ever been, they're taking the smarter choice and going to Selos. Mangler is literally DOA!
