Servers locked at 6:00 am but downtime is scheduled for 6:30 ? can you please look at this, dont seems well thought
  2. CatsPaws No response to your post cause your on ignore

Those who were logged in earlier were able to stay in until the servers were brought down so it was only affecting those who were trying to log in so close to downtime. No need to look at anything. Remember this next month on the 3rd Wed and plan accordingly.

or maybe one client crashed and cannot reconnect...

But nevermind, you probably just dont want to see the point, i dont care.

Wrong. The servers should lock when they come down.

When servers come down, we lock them ahead of time, 99% of the time; this is nothing new. There's nothing worse than loading in to finish that one little thing before the update and suddenly getting kicked halfway through with zero messaging as to why (until you try to log in again). It also allows the servers to shutdown gracefully and ensure that all characters are saved properly, instead of being in a janky state.

When you pretend to be a compendium of EQ knowledge and you get whopped by a Dev.

    I love EQ...

Wrong, both accounts. Server locks at DB's discretion, obviously excluding a crash. They give a warning, that is broadcasted "Find a safe location" and counts down. This is to give you, the player, ample time to quickly find that safe spot and log out....not screw around....not try to get as much use as possible....30 mins to safe your character and choose to log out by your own accord. After that time limit is up, the command turns it off and in the case of not being able to log in that is to prevent people from getting on for 30 mins which again "allows the player to find a safe location" and get off the damn game. DB has plans, they don't want you interrupting it but they are trying to give you the time to log off.

Plan accordingly, read the patcher, look at /cal and realize...with in an hour when given notice days in advance you are going to be forced off early, through a crash or an emergancy at any moment.
