They use 6 computers and have a wireless keyboard with receivers for it tuned for that one keyboard on all the machines

They use pads for all the machines with a good hotkey setup

It's not that hard or complicated

BTW VMWare is an auto ban with no appeal when it's detected so obviously you're just making stuff up here

Playing multiple characters across separate computers is fine, but playing them from the same computer is not. If you see players doing this on Coirnav (or Phinny, another True Box server) feel free to report them - this is an actionable offense.

How, exactly, is a player supposed to tell the difference? Lots of misinformed speculation in this thread.

EQ runs well enough on old hardware that many PC gamers have enough hardware to 6 truebox without buying any additional stuff. The extra purchases to smoothly communicate input from one mouse/kb to the rest are pretty small compared to the monthly cost of six accounts, and the extra effort to set it all up is just a day in the life of a multiboxer.

Someone gave this advise on reddit on products to help box.

Hardware KVMs usually have a delay between switching. Software KVM will work but generally they control mouse and keyboard and not the monitor in terms of using 1 monitor. You'd need 3 monitors because the software won't stream(might be wrong).

[Unmentioned 3rd Party Software] allows you to broadcast commands to other computers but I'm not sure the legality on truebox.

Are you good with hardware/software? A wireless numpad might be a fun thing to toy around with for more reactionary/quality of life option such as this one below. You could have your keyboard in the middle of two of these and map them to buttons on the other toons hotbar to reduce switching all the time. (Numpad 1 = /autofollow). If your good with autohotkey, you should be able to remap the keys or even turn the Enter button into a shift key or something and turn the numpad into many more than the amount of buttons provided.

If you are a expert hardware/software you could buy one of these. With 3 USB cables coming out of the case and 1 going going to each computer. The joystick when mapped to the arrow keys will allow you to move your toons individually.

And make yourself one of these and put as many buttons as you want. A real battle station. You'd have a USB cable going to each computer

There are also USB Footswitch which I personally have and they are amazing.

I don't play on a truebox but I do use a Point of Sale keyboard to help me box. They are not the easiest or most supported thing in the world but they are 100% mapable and they generally have clear keycaps so stores can label them for a professional look. However they only plug into one computer like a normal keyboard.

Edit: it censored the boxing program. I wasn't suggesting the hacking program.

It doesn't work at all on truebox. If you are running it, it won't let you log in.
  7. Hateseeker Augur

Is this because Daybreak's launcher can stop it, or because of the cooperation of the program maker?
  8. Accipiter Old Timer

I started boxing a full group in PoP originally. Back then you needed a separate PC for each account anyway.
  9. Accipiter Old Timer

Flawed logic. I box because I don't want to have anything to do with you. If I couldn't box, I wouldn't play. Period. If they took away boxing, it wouldn't improve your situation. Think about it.

You...I...You... I don't even know where to start with this. How exactly is anyone actually supposed to tell the difference? You just invited a ton of wasted man hours for CS.

The devs of said program have an agreement with DBG to keep it from working on TrueBox. It will crash your client if you try. Someone worked around this a few months ago which caused the Devs of said program to create a build system in which all modifications are vetted to prevent this from happening again.

Err, no you didn't. EQWindows let you box multiple toons on one pc during Velious, maybe earlier.

I'm late to this discussion but it looks like BigHurb isn't around to hear this. Thanks DBG!

There are plenty of software options to multi-box on one computer. Doesn't anyone remember the 20 boxer on Phinigel that would AE goblin island in one instance for 12 hours straight....? I would love to see those 20 computers hooked up and synced together.

Daybreak's launcher won't connect to a truebox server if you are running it with the client that is attempting to connect to the truebox server. If you have it running on a different client connected to a live server, that's not a problem.

Just so we are clear, the "Software that must not be named" is not eqmule's macro software, but a different program that provides a nice window environment for multiboxing. From what I understand, there was an agreement between the creator and Daybreak, but it is much less public and discussed than eqmule's agreement.

It's a shame because the only real feature that could even be an issue on truebox is the ability to broadcast keys, and they already have that covered with the code that will disconnect you if it detects key broadcasts.

I true box 4. Wife true boxes 3. When she is gone I true box 7. No cheats. 2 towers, 5 laptops. lots of keypads. There are people doing it legit. There are also people who aren't. But you can't crucify everyone on your cheater crusade. If they made a Phinny with no true box and instances I would make it my home. We would fire up 6 each. We, and many others, would love a server like that.

This. Give us this server and the 6 boxers would largely disappear from the truebox servers.

So Long as we are asking:

    1) No-TrueBox
    2) FV Loot Rules

    All over that.

You're confused. It isn't hard to hit 5 keys in under a second. You're also making huge assumptions about VMs. Why do you assume VMs are being used? You've already been told over and over your assumptions are incorrect but I'm curious.
