Save yourself the trouble and get out now. Daybreak has given up on this game and the EQ devs have given up.

Ignore the previous poster. The Zek servers may be dead (never had any interest in PvP myself) but the rest of the servers are quite alive. Come to Bristlebane and you find lots of players. In the interest of full disclosure, most of those players are level 90+. On the other hand, a new TLP server is supposed to launch soon and will likely be crowded. Depending upon what sort of experience you want the TLP servers may be the best choice for you. I play on Bristlebane and have friends on the TLP servers and they love the experience there.

I decided to play on FV. However i am considering the new TLP on the 16th.

But it seems a bit too hardcore for me. I kinda like the RP. And the population on the server seems rather healthy :)

good choice imo with firiona vie , if I had to choose only one server to play it would be FV as well.
I got same boxing crew on rathe and FV.

btw , what is your toon name in FV , vandaul ?

Hi, I just started playing myself. I don't know much about the game but my toon name is Venlaael. Feel free to add me to your friends list, maybe we can group up and figure this game out. I forgot to mention i'm also on FV server.

Welcome fresh blood to what I consider the greatest game of all time. Ignore the guy saying the company and developers have given up on this game. Maybe it no longer suits their needs but I honestly believe the developers are doing the best they can with the resources available to them. As a new player everything is new and that is a lot of new stuff for you to dabble with.

Some suggestions because there is so much content is to just take it a pace that is right for you. Stop and enjoy the content and don't be pressured into zooming to end game. Make sure you do the tutorial zone if not a couple of times trying out different classes. I cant stress the importance of taking the time to learn the in game features which are explained to you in the tutorial zone. Understanding that information while not required will give you knowledge of in game features which will make your gaming experience significantly better. By doing it on a couple of different classes you will be able to test out how different classes feel to better find one that suites your play style.

Lastly if you find yourself frustrated or stuck ask questions. Some vets will give you some smart remarks but overall I would like to think that most players are rather helpful. Its in our own best interest that you find enjoyment here and become an active member. Familiarize yourself with http://almarsguides.com/

EQ is the only game that's released 1 expansion a year regularly for its entire life span.

But yea, the Devs here don't do any work and have "given up" hope on the game -_-

Pumping out cut and paste expansions is not really not giving up on the game though. Personally I think new people should play p99 because it is the only way to see what made EQ popular in the first place. Play there and experience the tough newbie experience and level up. If you make it to high levels and get tired of the way things work on p99, start again on real EQ and just do pay to win to get back to where, not to mention the mercs and dumb gear like Defiant that makes everything so easy. But at least playing on p99 will put those things into perspective.

Honestly if I was forced to stay in Velious I'd never play EQ again. If I was forced to stay in PoP I wouldn't play either.

If anything the TLP servers taught me how much EQ used to really suck and how much better the game has gotten these 20 years. Just my personal opinion of course but there's thousands on live who feel the same way and it disproves the "game used to be better statement".

That said though, Daybreak releases more NEW content per expansion than World of Warcraft does AND we get expansions yearly with Blizzard once every 3 or so.

You might say yea but WoW does content patches, which they do, although their content patches just add in stuff for that expansion which they couldn't finish before launch.... Much like any EQ content patches do.

So, all in all.... EQ gives more original content than any other MMORPG (at least that I know of) and on a MUCH MUCH more frequent basis. We get 3 expansions a year all of which are bigger than WoWs 1 expansion every 3 years.

Not to mention that WoW has recycled a few things now, they also release with tons of bugs for bleeding edge content, and class homogenization hurt the game. As they have moved away from it, balance has gotten worse. Meter mongering and the community in general is awful, and god forbid you have to step away from your PC for a few minutes.

Greetings Vandaul (and Croenus!) I am Wuddane, the most handsome troll to ever grace Norrath with his presence (I mean seriously...paladins can't keep their hands off me). I too play on Firiona Vie, so feel free to add me to your friends list. I never mind helping people out, whether it is questions you have or with gear.

    See you around!

Did you play EQ from 1999 to about 2001?
