Leveling up or down in earned levels?! =-D

So I been thinking about this, and got some feedback from others that dug the idea. Being able to level down to levels and back up in increments of 5 from between 110 and 65. Only after earning the levels of course. So if I am 110 and my friend how just came back to game is 85, I can level down once and while and tank for him the level appropriate content. Have bandoleer dummies that hold gear for levels. Give one or two free the rest charge in DB. make them placable so you can show off gear for that level obtained. Add achievements. NOT REPLACE, ADD lol to where they can only be retrieved when at the appropriate level. This would make folks not have to rush to the end, and if you add stuff to all levels as you add expansions it makes for reason to buy new expansion for level 85 or 90s. So first two bandoleer dummies free or one. the other 9 or 10 charge with db like the merc slots. between 65 and 110 that is total of 10 dummies. Bandoleer idea came from a buddy, I really dont see how this can tick off even the oldest of raiders. Lets folks enjoy the content from beginning to end at their speed instead of racing to the end where most folks are. Build sideways not just up. Utilize the whole world of norath. Add things to old casino. hidden prizes in LDoNs when leveled down. Even raid achievements and such ... Raiding guilds can have throwback thursdays to find hidden content that was added during a patch... Thanks for time =-D

I made it through a few sentences. Have you tried the existing system for 'leveling down'? They are called Spirit Shrouds.

It is also called Sacrifice, Necro can de-level down to 45.

Not the same thing. I like playing my class, and this would give a way to save and have on display earned raid armor obtained from different expansions and such.

Didn't even try to read the first wall of text... anyway most items have level requirements, so if you drop below the item level requirement, then you will get reduced or no benefit from wearing it (yellow slot)

If you are not reading my posts for what ever reason, why are you even putting an opinion on it? Go look for other posts to troll. Honestly, you and folks like you are the real reason games like this end up struggling. Both your influences and negative interactions. Sadly decent folks don't like to speak up as much because they don't want to get stuck wasting time arguing with folks like you. Me, I will tell you with my WALL OF TEXT. You and folks like you are the reason for terrible gaming experiences.

I am suggesting something to make it easier for new players and returning players to get groups. You are just being negative.

And folks if my HUGE paragraph is hard to read. You have bigger issues to deal with than my opinions on grouping for new or returning players. I really thought this idea was troll proof LOL.. haters will always find a way to hate.

EQ2 has this in the form of the mentoring system. Sounds like it's pretty much what you are referring to and does not require saving multiple gear sets or whatever, it simply scales down to that level. Not sure you could convince them to implement it into this game though.

It would be a useful thing in my opinion as well. Only bad thing about that system is the way it works pretty much trivializes the lower level content as you come in vastly more powerful than a toon of that actual level really would be.

The easy way to assist your friend is for the 110 to group with the 85 and go to a zone that allows the 110 to slaughter mobs- possibly in one of the Alaran zones. In a number of cases a 110 necro may be able to do Heroic adventures and advance the friend n them. If helping a friend of very low level, Shrouding to 10 or 15 levels above, and letting a merc carry would work, I would think that the levels 70 to 80 would be hardest to assist, as shrouds are too low and the mains 30 level range is too high.

Would be a nice feature. Sure they are shrouds but they aren’t the same thing.

If you really want to level up with a friend though, join in on the fun and make an alt and level up with them. You might come to love that alt and class if you haven’t tried it before. :)

Don't know why you get upset that someone didn't read, and then ignore the post with the answer to your question.

    To level up you play.

To level down and play the same class with the same gear have a necromancer Sac you http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=8619

If you want to level down and then pop right back up you're stuck with shrouds. But if you actually want to play alongside a lower level with your character, that is possible in the game and has been for a long time.

"Bandolier Dummies"? I wouldn't hold my breath.

Wow, insulting people who try and help you. Good luck hope that attitude serves you well. Also congrats, you're the first person to make me use the forum ignore option.

The Spirit Shrouds were a neat idea and great, if you are wanting to fill a random spot in your friends group that can xp with a level 70 or lower. But they fail as a way to play ones actual class at those levels, or to play with them in 71-100 level content without being utterly over powered for it. Hopefully at some point they will have time to revamp spirit shrouds and add straight class ones for 5-105 and just have you be max AA for the level, top tier group gear for the level, and all the rank 1 spells/tomes for thru the level.

You could buy a character name change token, then /testcopy every 5-10 levels to test server. Changing the name on testserver. That would allow you to use the same character at different levels, just only on test server. The only other way would be to delevel by death or have a necro sacrifice you. Then you would have to level up again.

I think you can only testcopy once a week or so.

Also deleveling messes up aa abilities. For example an sk that delevels under the last level he/she purchased a rank of harm touch would make it too high an ability to use.

I like the idea. Technically it would be very challenging. Wouldn't it be easier for DBG to create 7 different levels of Heroic characters exclusively for Live servers. Then you just purchase and start a Heroic at the same level as your friend?
