The EverQuest team will be launching Quarm, a special event server, in July! We’ll have a beta test for Quarm that will open up to players THIS WEEK on (or around) Thursday, June 16, 2016.

Each period of time the Quarm event server is open will be called an “Event,” followed by the Roman numeral for which Event it is (for example, “Event I”). Each Event on Quarm will have different goals for players to accomplish. Players can earn special rewards by completing Quarm server goals before the end of each Event. An All Access Membership will be required to participate in the events on the Quarm server.

Why name an event server Quarm? Just like how Druzzil Ro preserves the timeline after Quarm is defeated, such is the case with the Quarm server. Once Event I on the Quarm server has run its course, characters will be moved off of the server. Our plan is for new events to be a fresh start on Quarm.

Players that earn rewards from goals during an Event will be able to claim these unique rewards on ANY server (yes, even progression servers)!

Do you and your friends have what it takes to be the FIRST raid to defeat Overlord Mata Muram? If so, you’ll earn a unique title! Even if you aren’t the first people to defeat Mata Muram, additional titles are available for completing the group progression and completing the raid progression on the Quarm server.

How Will the Quarm Server Work?

In case you missed the May 2016 Producer’s Letter, the details for Event I on the Quarm server are:
    • New characters start at Level 51 with 50 AA points, wearing a full set of level-appropriate Defiant gear.
    • Experience rate on Quarm is set to the same rates as other live servers.
    • All expansions up to and including Omens of War are unlocked. Race / class combinations that are available in Omens of War will be available on Quarm.
    • There will be no expansion unlocks past Omens of War during Event I.
    • Most items are tradable, using the same tradability restrictions as the Firiona Vie server.
    • True box rules apply. Multiple accounts cannot be played on the same hardware.
    • The Recruit-a-Friend experience bonus is disabled to maintain a fair competitive environment.
    • The server will have a finite time limit. At a minimum, it will run for 3 months, but this could be extended.
    • Once the Event has ended, and all characters on Quarm will be moved to a new server. The new server will follow the standard server ruleset. There are no plans to allow transfers off of this new server.
What Are My Goals on the Quarm Server?

To earn rewards, you need to complete either the group or the raid content in Omens of War before the end of the Event.

The group goal is satisfied by completing all six small-scale trials in the Muramite Proving Grounds. The raid goal is satisfied by defeating Overlord Mata Muram in Anguish.
The group trials are offered by each of the six projections in the Muramite Proving Grounds. Each trial tests the participants' mastery of an aspect of domination and warfare that the Muramites value. Up to six players can tackle a small-scale trial together. While fewer than six is possible, it is not recommended, as these trials are challenging and require specific skills and tactics that are not often called upon in battle!

    These trials are:
    • The Mastery of Destruction
    • The Mastery of Efficiency
    • The Mastery of Fear
    • The Mastery of Ingenuity
    • The Mastery of Subversion
    • The Mastery of Weaponry
Defeating Overlord Mata Muram may sound simple, but as those who have fought him in the past can attest, getting to him is half the battle. To challenge Mata Muram, each adventurer must individually complete Taromani's signet-seeking quest, and the raid force must collectively complete all six large-scale trials in the Muramite Proving Grounds, andthen they must defeat every other target in Anguish.

    Quarm Rewards

When a character on Quarm has successfully completed the progression for the current Event, their account will be eligible to claim several rewards on the server of their choice! The reward options are the same between the group and raid paths, so head in the direction that works best for you and your friends.
All players that complete either the group or raid path will be able to claim a unique hat ornament! Quarm Hat - Red is an item that can be used as either a Hero's Forge ornament that can be slotted into your favorite piece of headgear or a statless helm that can be worn by itself.

The design of this hat was based on a hat that some of you may recognize… or even own IRL.

    (Roshen not included)

Players will ALSO earn titles based on their accomplishments!
    • First raid to defeat Overlord Mata Muram during Event I: “Omen” Prefix
    • Defeat Overlord Mata Muram during Event I: “the Omen” and “, Omen of War” suffixes
    • Complete the Muramite Proving Grounds during Event I: “the Anguished” suffix.
    • Complete the Raid Goal During ANY Event on the Quarm server: “, Champion of Quarm”
    • Complete the Group Goal During ANY Event on the Quarm server: “, Conqueror of Quarm”
In addition to the hat and titles that can be claimed by a character on another server, players will also be able to choose one additional reward.

In keeping with the theme of Omens of War, the first reward option is a unique Feran mount summoned by the Quarm-Touched Feran Bridle. Armored, angry, and ready to charge into battle, this magnificent beast brings back memories of exploring the expansive Ruined City of Dranik or galloping through the Nobles' Causeway with an angry murkglider or six on your tail.

Please note that the Shadows of Luclin expansion must be unlocked on your server in order to claim or use a mount.

The second reward option is one of mystical convenience, allowing the bearer to occasionally teleport to a remote undersea chamber in Timorous Deep. This chamber, known informally as "the Firepot Room," is decorated with a variety of different torches, braziers, firepots, and lamps, each of which is a one-way teleport to a home city in Norrath. Imagine the ease at which one could travel the world!

Take note that this reward is available to claim on servers when and if they have unlocked the Ruins of Kunark.

The third reward option is raid currency. Have you been window shopping at Researcher Orbiana's in Katta Castrum, but find that you're short on Arx Energy Crystals? Does Nelirid Wittma have a thing you need, but you're all out of Bifurcated Coins? Choose from a variety of currency options from a variety of expansions.

Note that the associated expansion must be unlocked on your server in order to claim that expansion's currency as a Quarm reward.

The fourth and final option is a batch of AAs. Choose this reward option to receive an AA boost for a character of your choice. This reward scales based on how many expansions are unlocked on your server. For example, the reward is as much as 500 if your server has unlocked The Darkened Sea. The minimum is 50 for a server with Omens of War unlocked. Progression Server players: This option can only be claimed on a server that has Omens of War unlocked.

    Changes to Omens of War

In advance of the launch of the Quarm server, all static zones in the Omens of War expansion will be configured to auto-balance when populated by enough players. Raid events will not spawn in the base zones. Take a look at these raid events that take place in open world zones listed below and let us know if we missed anything:

    Ruined City of Dranik
    Battlemaster Rhorious
    Zun`Muram Volklana

    Noble's Causeway
    Murkglider School Leader
    Bone Cracker
    Slavedriver Menlo
Ziegel One-eye, Bazu Tamer (Release the Bazu event)

    Dranik's Scar
    Kyv HeadHunter

    Wall of Slaughter
    Velitorkin
    Hulcror
    Tarn Icewind
    The Murkglider Hivequeen
    Pyrique Redwing

    Riftseeker's Sanctum
    Feratha
    Chailak
    Queen Pyrilonis
    King Gelaqua

    The Bloodfields
Gazz the Garguantuan (slumbering beast event)
Myrhee the Flighty (reclusive girplan event)
    Elite Dragorn Jekisia

    Harbingers' Spire
    Guardian of the Beacon

While we're on the topic of the raids in Omens of War, some have changed. Perhaps a raid is exactly the same as it was over a decade ago... or maybe it isn't. Finding out and adapting to the changes will be part of the challenge.

    In Closing

We'd like to invite you to help us test out the new server's rules and functionality on our beta server. The Quarm beta is scheduled to begin (or around) Thursday, June 16.

We hope to see you on beta and we’re excited to have you join us for the launch Event I on the Quarm event server!

Sounds like a fun experience. Thank you for taking the time to design and offer different reward options for people in different situations or with varying preferences.

Looking forward to Quarm, thanks EQ team!

So this server all character will be moved to after is a Live server? Or will it be a Progression server that starts at DON?
  5. Benito EQ player since 2001.

What is the criteria to attain the Barnacle-Encrusted Brazier?
  6. Crayon123 Augur

Says its a 'new' server with regular server rule set. Assuming that to mean all expansions will be open as per usual, but no transfers allowed off.
  7. ggny New Member

Why not just throw them on Vox or Vulak. Not like anyone is on there anyways. If it isnt gonna be a Progression Server that starts at DON what is the point of a new server? They should try the progression that starts at DON. Most people have never even got that far

Question for the beta. Since the launch is expected in July, and for example I will say its the last day of July, that gives approx 1.5 months for testing at max.

Will this be enough time to actually get the events tested? Even when starting out at level 51, this seems like a very short period to level up and do the encounters available. I am sure some will be able to get to 70 pretty quick, but will this be enough time to properly test the encounters and events?
  9. Crayon123 Augur

Having level 70 toons with 500 AA dropped off on a 'new' server with other people freshly off of Quarm might entice some players to keep playing these same toons and indeed progress through DoN and beyond. I know I would be more likely to continue playing if it was a 'new' realm with equally geared / leveled / tiered players from Quarm with similar objectives, as opposed to being dropped off onto a fully established realm with many players fully maxed out already.

I do hear what you're saying, but as far as I know Daybreak hasn't made any comments or hints about Event II, Event III, Event IV, etc. and their ultimate goals for the players. There is a good possibility Event II (for example) might entail something from a later expansion and toons will start at 75 with 1500 AA with gear far beyond what's available in DoN. Or heck, it might even be DoN progression itself paired with another equal level cap expansion.

I can understand the reason why they made the 'new' server like they did. It needs to be all-encompassing to allow them flexibility to do whatever they wish in regards to making goals in multiple expansions with their Event periods on Quarm.

Devs will prob test with raid guilds and give them levels / AA / approx expected gear to tune.
  11. Crayon123 Augur

The beta periods for Ragefire and Lockjaw were very limited as well. The developers seemed to use it more for stress-testing, finding any obvious out-of-era items and identifying any easily fixable bugs and/or oversights. While I'm sure some hardcore guilds may use it as an opportunity to get practice in for the real marathon and fine-tune their strategies, I think the developers have more interest in ensuring the quests, flags, and Event-task related triggers and zone-balancing features are working as intended more-so than the raid encounters themselves.
  12. CaptainSkeet Augur

While this is most likely true, the other servers didn't have the whole "race to the top" goal, at least not officially. So if anything, my concern would be broken encounters that hindered or downright screwed guild who would have otherwise gotten a win, progressed, or "won" the race.

I don't actually plan to be one of the winners of this server mind you, just trying to look down the road so we don't have a bunch of forum drama over a broken Anguish mechanic or something.
  13. Ducreux Augur

What can we expect for an experience rate on this server? Will the beta reflect expected exp rates?

I'm up for trying this but don't want to suddenly have the rug pulled out from under me again facing a massively slowed rate with the expectation of buying potions to offset it.

was just about to post asking this myself

Looking forward to it; I like the clarification of the rules (specifically, that the server is open for 3 months rather than just until OMM is killed).
  16. Crayon123 Augur

Solid point, would like clarification on this myself before I get too excited. I will choose to forego the whole thing if I'll be doing Phinigel style grinding, keying and flagging on a server cycle with a life expectancy of approximately 3-4 months. Just not worth it unless you can play long hours.
  17. Ducreux Augur

Is this correct or a typo? Are the raid events now ONLY spawning inside of the pickzones? I can see the reasoning as this would allow more open world raids overall (assuming multiple pickzones are up), but it seems backwards to the approach that has been taken in the past.

Or does this simply mean that the OoW open world raids are gone altogether and players are expected to get gear from other sources?
  18. Ootax Augur

Kind of what others have said, what will the XP rate be and what will this server be that our characters are transferred off to. As someone stated dropping them off on Vox or Vulak would be a good idea but there may be a name issue I guess so free name change maybe?? Also how often will these events come out, rough time frame? X amount of time after the previous event is beaten? If so where does those characters go? Another server or the same one the previous go with a free name change or something if you don't want the X at the end of your name?

What will flagging be like for previous expansions? Meaning will all of PoP and GoD zones be open or will players have to flag for them?
  19. anvil Elder

maybe raids are expected to be in instances only. no open world free for all.
  20. taliefer Augur

all the raid content for progression is instanced in omens of war anyway. the open world stuff is just lower teir loot stuff.
