While I may agree with you about voting with our wallets - nothing looks stupider than the person who says they're taking their 6 accounts and walking (!). It has that same desperate tone that shows up when someone attempts to make an authoritative legal point.

I prefer to give the devs the benefit of the doubt for now.

their solution seems to be based on some shady logic.

    >earlier progression had two servers, but they merged. So we should only open one server and avoid merging.

the problem is vulak had a huge population for over a year and was significantly smaller than fippy. one server is bad for everyone unless they intend to either open up more content earlier or instance more stuff.

With the login queue issue, they should open a second server to relieve current congestion.... But only if they also announce that the second server will be merged into the first as soon as the population warrants it. They've waited far too long to merge Vulak and Fippy.

Yeah, they only put in back to back 18 hour days to fix the server so we could enjoy it this weekend. They also expanded it to hold more than the two previous servers combined without crashing. They also made a queue system to help us from spamming. Seems to me they have tried a lot to help us over the weekend until they are back to full force tomorrow.

Man how times have changed. This used to be the more mature MMO and now looks more like the WoW forums.

We have Vulak and Trakanon which both have very low populations. And yet, there are no merges.

The last merges were done long ago, the game changes so the merge code needs updating and testing. It would appear that since it is pure overhead with no real advantage, it's cheaper to just run an empty server.

If you actually see merges being done to existing dead servers then you can assume you will might see merges for future servers. Right now, it's just easy talk with no valid expectation for it to happen.

You need to assume that it's cheaper for them to run dead servers than it is to merge them. That's a big thing that changed since 1999.

.. there is no way sony is low on server space. the reason we dont have a second server is because they dont care and think the problem will mend itself. worsened wounds omgs
