Ok... I have a question about this hot zone... Has no one at Daybreak ever been to this zone? The ENTIRE zone was designed as a RAID zone... You can't group here. Change it... That is all!
To be a bit more constructive. PoEarth / PoFire would be good alternatives. PoWater / PoAir are horrible zones and people will avoid them at all costs. I know you guys don't have resources to change all the hotzones but getting rid of the community hated ones would be a huge boon to the overall happiness of players leveling up. Thank you.
Generally, I advise my guildies to avoid this hotzone, unless I have several that need it at once, then I escort them in and destroy everything in the zone for them. I agree, it sucks, but there is help out there.
Yeah it is bad, but I would just go to Wall of Slaughter for a hot zone at 65. It is decent, can be a bit tough at that level. Some of the other hot zone choices are less than optimal, as a player who quit before SoD came out, OGH had some surprises... damn Den Mother...
Yeah. Get rid of the den mother. People trying to do the daily tasks do not enjoy this. It was(n't) funny way back when the zone was new and it was happening to the other guy but now that the zone is empty and you're almost assured to be the only one in the zone, this is excessive. We get banned for training people but it's ok for them to do it.
She is KOS to most people and roams around near the zone in from the Void. She's probably a bit to tough at 70-75 as well
I never had a problem with her. Have you tried acting more like a druid? Maybe wear some leather armor and scimitar? #DruidPrivilege
Aww stuff like that is what makes it exciting. Keeps you on your toes. Like being a newbie in QHills and fighting the wolves there and having Holly smack you down for it, or cruising through The Overthere and having to look over your shoulder for the Dragoons. Or that dang Nightmare horse in Lfay... or being a dumb druid and being picked off by Woushi after teleporting into the Wakening Land for the first time (and the second... and the third... I learned that one the hard way).
PoWater is awesome to exp if you know what you are doing. Go to Deep Water and kill the regrua guardians. Fire is so boring I could fall asleep and use muscle memory to kite mobs.
StalkerBear™ appears to seek out the most recently zoned-in player from great distances, whether the player is invisible or not. There's also a StalkerWolf™ but the agro radius does not appear to encompass the zone-in/quest area.
if i recall PoF and PoE already have fairly large ZEM. I dont think neither of these zones have ever been a hot zone. IMO do some updates to LDoN loot 20-65 and make those the hot zones
LDoNs are actually really good exp. I used it for the 45-55 hump since I didn't like any of the hot zones.
hmm i dont see it listed as ever being one.. Fire was always naturally a hot zone. at least not on this list http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Hotzones
Den Mother is a pain; I'm pretty sure she aggros from anywhere in the zone and makes a beeline for me. I can kill her fine; it's an annoyance.
Denmother does aggro from anywhere in the zone. I think the mechanic is something about being the last person to zone into the zone - which is pretty much a given these days. I think if she's killed and respawns and you're already in the zone, she leaves you alone unless you get too close to her. Wouldn't be bad if she showed up on extended target so you knew she was coming but it's just like someone trains you - it's just there and you are dead. At the level you are doing the daily there, having her add is not reasonable - especially if you have an apprentice merc. She likes rangers - never had an issue with mine there. She doesn't see through rogue hide/sneak - I had a really low level one there picking up groundspawns. Can we get her deleted devs? There generally are no groups in this zone anymore.
Call me crazy, but I kind of enjoyed this one. I do understand your point, though, and it's not for everyone. My GF and I went in there with our mercs the other day and had quite a bit of fun. It was more challenging than most of the traditional leveling path zones and gave us a bit more to do besides sit there and let our mercs destroy everything. It was a nice change of pace. I personally think it's great for the devs to be a little creative in what they make as a hot zone. It gives us a reason to adventure into some zones and corners of zones which we otherwise might ignore. Heck, I'd love to see them do something really off the wall and make a city like Kaladim a hot zone. That being said, the fact that they haven't updated the hot zones in two years is kind of pathetic.
