It's some of the most annoying spam in the game. That's good enough reason to ban it.

If you or some one you know is addicted to gambling call 1-800-662-help (4357).

To complain about something harmless in a video game that could have 0 effect on your life. Call you mother to see where she screwed up.

He sounds like a really really bad gambler. You'd be better off straight buying the Krono, the odds on the loot crates is really bad.

The Advanced loot function still randoms the same as players do. Players still have 1 person ML and split the loot afterwards.

We also use /random to decide other things, where to go, who tanks, which person of class x that an item just dropped for will get for minimum DKP rather than everyone of that class biding and spending far too much DKP. There are a few other silly things we use /ran for.

I hate gambling more than most people, we already had this out in another thread, but I think it's pointless to try and police gambling in game. There is no good line they can draw to say what is allowed and what is not. Somebody running a casino is bad, but two friends randoming for something is ok? There are so many scenarios in between that would be grey areas, it's just silly to try and manage that.

Instead I like to point out to people the stupidity of engaging with these casinos. The house always wins, maybe not every battle, but they always win the war. If you see somebody in the tunnel running one of these, and they keep doing it for longer than a few days, then they are not losing and you would be stupid to play their game. But in the end, people may not care that they are losing, or worse they may actually think they aren't losing. Pride will usher in denial to deal with any reality that is uncomfortable.

So good or bad, gambling will exist as long as people think they can outsmart other people. The difference is that when the players lose, they don't learn from it and change their behavior in a meaningful way. When the house loses, they do learn from it and change, because they know that's the only way they can keep winning.

A certain well-known scumbag was running casinos as recently as Coirnav. Maybe after, I can't recall.

I'm an old gambler. Former commodity futures broker, stock market trader, video poker player, blah, blah. Never addicted, though. It's like anything else (alcohol, overeating, drugs). If you have an addiction it's up to you to want to change and enact those changes. Look at how well prohibition worked out.

I'm a horrible gambler. If I go to a casino and win $10, I'm done for the rest of the trip. If I instead lose my limit ($20), I win anyways because as John Pinette said, I just get them back at the buffet. Prime rib? Hit me again.

you can always put the people running casino's on ignore. There are not that many of them.

DBG needs to add a large casino type quest like the one from LDON was it?
Put in tons of stuff to play for and it would be a platinum sink on every new TLP.

The only way to win Everquest, is the same way you win EVE Online. Uninstall it, and never look back.

The /ran function is still necessary. For example, two players need the same NO DROP epic piece of loot. You can't restrict the ability to roll NEED in the advanced loot window to just those players. The way to handle that is require them to /ran x xxxx and have the loot master give the item to the winner.
