I thought running in-game casinos was banned years and years ago?

Yet here they are taking advantage of addictive people who are massively overspending and hurting their families to keep rolling the dice in game.

Gambling addiction destroys lives and tolerating people exploiting it in everquest is disgusting.

There's a guy there now who keeps buying halfling heritage crates, selling the illusions and mounts for kronos and then gambling them away and repeating the process.

Daybreak, don't be a part of this scummy nonsense, come shut down these unethical players who exploit their fellow players illness for personal gain.

Also remove the ability to /random. It's outdated due to advanced loot function.

I'm guessing you rolled lower than 570 or whatever it is.

I also thought they were "banned" and had been cleaned out years ago, but maybe that was an owner or 2 ago, the more recent ones don't appear to care.

So what's the difference between player run casinos and heritage crates? Both are gambling. If anything the player run casinos have significantly better odds.

Seems to me if one is fine by you then so should the other. Neither is forced on you and let's face it, we're not young impressionable minds. We're old farts.

It's useful outside the advanced loot function in scenarios outside of running a virtual casino, how about we just leave things alone.

I'm not 100% following, he buys crates, sell the mounts and illusions for Krono and then gambles them away after? How is he doing that if he sold them for Krono? Or does he get an illusion and then sell /random for 1kr each and highest roll gets the item or something?

    Very weak ogre attempt.

You realize the entire leveling system and rewards systems in EQ (and every other MMO) is based around addiction? There is a reason you get a lot of rewards at first for a little effort and it gets progressively harder and harder.

I think he means he sells the items for KR, then gambles the KR away. Why not just buy the KR?

Probably buying the crate is cheaper than buying the end amount of Krono.

Ok, thats starting to make more sense haha. So whats the house's cut?
  16. Bobbybick Only Banned Twice

Pretty sure the reason the casinos were initially banned in the EULA/TOS was due to the petitions they generated due to players getting scammed and Sony wanting to reduce workload on the skeleton crew GMs.

I don't know that they are actually allowed now but I didn't find anything in a quick search that leads me to believe they would not be. Maybe Darkpaw changed their minds at some point over the years?
  17. Gnothappening Augur

From what I have seen, the odds aren't that bad, though ALWAYS in the houses favor. Also, on previous servers the person running it always paid. I never wasted any KR on it, but I have had guild members that I still give a hard time about it. They are always quick to tell you how much KR they won, but then you find out that they lost three times that the last couple of days, LOL.

This seems likely to me. Natural progression. If players think you will actually deal with scammers and petition en masse, that creates more work. Now that players know there is no customer service at all for all practical purposes, it takes less work on DPG's part to ignore the casinos and let the chips fall wherever they may, and just close any resulting petitions. The fact that this is even a thread indicates that some players are still holding on to unrealistic expectations that made sense ten years ago.

The only winning move is not to play to run the casino.

    Fixed it for you.
