No new single target cure in ToV?

For the last few expansions, clerics have gotten an upgraded single target multi-cure spell every 5 levels. The last one was at 109 with Expurgated Blood. The pattern indicates there should be one at 114, but unless I missed it, there isn't one.

Intentional or oversight? Given the nastiness of Restles Ice, it seems there should be an upgrade. The beta forum isn't accessbile, so I can't even go back and see if this was addressed.

I had thought that they said the priest cures were now going to be every 10 levels (so every other level increase). Of course, Beta forums are shut down so I cannot double check that. But there was definitely something "cure related" that was going to move to every other level bump.

Correct. They "stagnated" cures this expansion, but all curable effects were designed with this in mind.

That just seems odd...make an expansion with a bunch of nasty dots, but no updgraded cure. I know that they CAN be cured with what we have, but it seems like it would make more sense to include the upgrade as well.

Some of the cure counters require a specific priest spell to cure in 1 cast, or twin cast of lesser cure spells e.g. paladin splash. Paladins, if not other classes, have to load level 60 Eradicate Curse to single cast cure Restless Ice.

I think it's an effort to stop the Cure/Counter creep. If they keep upgrading cures, they have to keep upgrading DoTs to have more counters, which just leads to more issues if left unchecked.

And it means less spells for them to create.

Lol, just about every abilitiy is level capped or counter capped post 50. It's cookie cutter on a treadmill design.

Sure make me use a level 60 spell instead of a level 113 spell. Sorry but the Devs made new cure spells that don't single cast cure new DoTs that much older spells can cure. They didn't save themselves any work by doing that.

Our combo cure spells don't really increase by much. In looking at the history of the last three in the "Blood" combo cure line:

    [55083/4746] Expurgated Blood Rk. III
    Classes: CLR/109 DRU/108

    [34084/4546] Cleansed Blood Rk. III
    Classes: CLR/99 DRU/99
    Skill: Alteration
    Mana: 150
    Target: Single
    Range: 100'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Focusable: Yes

2: Decrease Poison Counter by 38
3: Decrease Disease Counter by 38
4: Decrease Disease Counter by 38
5: Decrease Curse Counter by 48
6: Decrease Corruption Counter by 48
Cleanses the body of your target, curing severe diseases, poisons, curses, and corruption.

We gain 2 counters to each Poision/Disease counter and (beginning recently) 3 to Curse/Corruption with each upgrade. The standalone cures for these are:

[21398] Eradicate Poison (worse than current combo cure)
    Classes: CLR/52 PAL/64 RNG/76 DRU/58 SHM/56 BST/76
    Skill: Alteration
    Mana: 250
    Target: Single
    Range: 100'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Focusable: Yes
    Casting: 1.25s, Recast: 1.5s, Rest: 1.5s
1: Decrease Poison Counter by 30
2: Decrease Poison Counter by 30
Removes toxin from your target's system, curing them of strong poisons.

[21399] Eradicate Disease (worse than combo cure)
    Classes: CLR/58 PAL/71 RNG/76 DRU/58 SHM/52 NEC/66 BST/66
    Skill: Alteration
    Mana: 250
    Target: Single
    Range: 100'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Focusable: Yes
    Casting: 1.25s, Recast: 1.5s, Rest: 1.5s
1: Decrease Disease Counter by 30
2: Decrease Disease Counter by 30
Cleanses your target's immune system, curing them of strong diseases.

[21400] Eradicate Curse (better by 7 counters)
    Classes: CLR/54 PAL/60 DRU/54 SHM/54
    Skill: Alteration
    Mana: 400
    Target: Single
    Range: 100'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Focusable: Yes
    Casting: 1.25s, Recast: 1.5s, Rest: 1.5s
1: Decrease Curse Counter by 30
2: Decrease Curse Counter by 30
Cleanses your target's soul, removing strong curses.

[55247/4723] Extricate Corruption Rk. III (better by 4 counters)
    Classes: CLR/109
    Skill: Alteration
    Mana: 625
    Target: Target Group
    Range: 100', AE Range: 100'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Focusable: Yes
    Casting: 3.5s, Recast: 1.5s, Rest: 1.5s
1: Decrease Corruption Counter by 57
Expunges your group's immune system, removing #1 corruption counters.

So if the combo cure increased at its current rate, it would take 3 more upgrade cycles for it to be better than the standalone Curse cure. It would take 2 more upgrade cycles for it to be better than the standalone Corruption cure but only if Extricate Corruption never received another upgrade.

I found the following information for Restless Ice, the DoT mentioned in the OP:

Slot 21: Decrease Current Hit Points by 71111 per tick
Slot 22: Decrease Current Mana by 911 per tick
Slot 23: Increase Curse Counter by 50
Slot 24: Cast on Duration Fade: Restless Ice

This should currently be curable by the base rank of our most current Blood spell (51 curse counters) or 2 casts of our Word group heal (30 curse counters at base rank) or 1 Word and 1 Radiant Cure (31 curse counters).

It'd be interesting to hear from a designer what the reasoning is behind the stagnation of the combo cure line. The only thing it seems to be doing is slowing the rate at which they will surpass the standalone Curse and Corruption cures, while also slowing the increase of the Poison and Disease cures (though those are rarely used anymore). This doesn't seem like a major issue, though, since it will take quite a few upgrade cycles for that to happen (unless we gain more counters per upgrade). Raid/group content designers are also more likely to discourage use of combo cures by requiring curing some effects while not curing others or putting an absurdly high amount of counters on the effect, so even if it did happen, we would still be forced to use the standalone cures or cast cure spells multiple times.
