    *** Highlights ***

    - Fixed an issue where a player would crash after logging back into a Multi-Instance Zone (/pickzone) or using gate to a bound Multi-Instance zone after a long break.
    - Corrected an issue causing players entering mission instances of some zones to be teleported to the non-instanced versions.
    - Fixed an issue regarding binding in a Multi-Instance Zone; you should now properly be sent to an available zone when gating or returning to your bind point.

    *** Tradeskills ***

    - Luminescent Weapon Grade Ore is no longer be available for purchase on Ragefire until Rain of Fear has unlocked.
    - Some cookie molds that were not available at launch are no longer available on the progression server.
    - Recipes that call for Thalium Ore are no longer visible on progression servers until Dragons of Norrath.

    *** Quests & Events ***

    - Arx Mentis raids - Glowing Essences of the Citadel now have a small chance to drop in Tier 2 Arx Mentis raids and drop more commonly from Calix Quirinus.
    - All Arx Mentis progression raids - Now drop exactly six Essences of the Citadel rather than between four and eight.

    *** Spells ***

    - Buffs with limited charges that are consumed when their focus effect is applied now continue to apply their remaining effects until the spell that was focused by that buff is finished resolving.
This corrects a problem where the critical chance portion of spells (like Chromatic Haze and Frenzied Devastation) was never applied during the buff's final charge, because the buff was removed before the critical chance roll was made.
    - Wizards - On progression servers, Rend is now available for purchase from vendors in several cities.

    *** NPC ***

    - "an old froglok" in Upper Guk no longer spawns on progression servers until the Planes of Power expansion is unlocked.

    *** AA ***

    - Wizard - Arcane Fusion no longer deals damage to non-NPC targets.
This should ensure that wizards who fail their Bucolic Gambit are slightly less likely to annihilate themselves.
    - Beastlord - Corrected a bug with ranks 4-6 of the AA line 'Nature's Salve' that caused them to cast the spell associated to rank 3 of the ability. Ranks 4-6 should now increase in power and trigger the effect on your warder as originally intended.
    - Bard - Reduced the casting time of the Arpeggio spells on certain breastplates from 0.3s to instant.
    - Bard - Restored the doppelganger effect and removed the shadowstep component on the AA line "Lyrical Prankster".
    - Rogue - Corrected an issue that caused rank 6 of AA Extended Envenomed Blades to not function.
    - Rogue - Corrected an issue that prevented all ranks of the AA Enduring Vision from working.
    - Corrected a typo in the description of the buff cast by the AA "Glyph of the Cataclysm".
    - Corrected the inconsistencies with the casting level of AA abilities.

    *** Progression Servers ***

    - Restored the spell merchant Gadallion to the Southern Desert of Ro.
    - The Potion of Companion's Amnesia is now available on all Progression Servers.

    *** Miscellaneous ***

    - Steamfont is now added to the zones that spin up new instanced versions when they are populated by enough adventurers.
    - Corrected an oversight that prevented players that were created on the Vox server from being able to select the suffix "of Vox".

    *** UI ***

    - There is now a chat message of how much time you have before you can run /pickzone again.
    - You now get a message in chat with what instance you are in when you run /pickzone in a load-balanced zone.

    - Changed -

    *** Previously Updated ***

    - Fixed the Deepwater Harpoon quest. Returned the missing sentries to West Freeport, and Sentry Xyrin will again attack the nearby spectres on the island when inspired to do so.

Still hoping for an answer as to whether normal servers will instance regular zones or only the Progression servers.
  7. Hludwolf Developer

I believe they have been since we put it in place (it is only specific zones). Although its much less likely that you would get as many people in a zone as is required.

    Found 5721 differences between spells_us-2015-05-15-test.txt and spells_us-2015-06-09-test.txt
    .

Ow, my eyes. I really wish the standalone parser had an inverted color scheme.

    • Most of the changes are adding or removing a CLASS/254 and skill to various spells. I guess this is for book keeping and working with the AA focus effects?
From what I can tell, the spells were changed under these criteria:
If the spell is only cast from an item, remove any class, level, and skill on it.
If the spell is cast by NPCs, make it ALL/254, and some flavor appropriate skill.
If it's cast by a limited set of players in some way (AA, auto-cast, whatever), add those classes/254 plus an appropriate skill.

    • A lot of spells got an N/A added before their name. Maybe these aren't able to be cast by anything in game? Except some of them are called by other spells.
    • More adding ranks notation to AAs spell effects in a standardized roman numeral system (with a space!).
I didn't see many potential function changes that weren't in the patch notes. The only one I'm not sure on is Soul Flay Effect losing its mana cost, does this change anything?
    [38193] Soul Flay Effect
    Mana: 350

To Dev working on this: These two spells looked out of place in terms of what the new class is listed. Also, whoever is adding in new NPC effects isn't following your pattern of putting ALL/254 on them.
    [37956] Dragon Fear
    Classes: CLR/254
    [37957] Lava Breath
    Classes: CLR/254

If you want to change it to a level 254 dragon, it would definitely give raiders something to do for a while :) More DA fun!

Thank you for the fix to Chromatic Haze's crit chance. However, the crit damage mod portion of the ability still does not carry over:
    [41768] Chromatic Haze
    Classes: ENC/254
    Skill: Melee
    Target: Target Group, MGB: No
    Range: 200', AE Range: 200'
    Resist: Beneficial, Blockable: Yes
    Casting: 0s
Duration: 12s (2 ticks), Extendable: No, Dispelable: No
    Max Hits: 1 Matching Spells
1: Increase Base Spell Damage by 375%
    2: Limit Type: Detrimental
    3: Limit Max Duration: 0s
4: Limit Min Mana Cost: 10
10: Increase Chance to Critical Nuke by 100% and Increase Critical Nuke Damage by 100% of Base Damage
Text: You feel strengthened by magic.

Here is the first wave of Rain of Cutlasses on test currently (used because the damage doesn't vary):
[Wed Jun 10 18:50:16 2015] Sancus hit Test One Hundred Three for 292159 points of non-melee damage.
    [Wed Jun 10 18:50:16 2015] Sancus delivers a critical blast! (292159)
    [Wed Jun 10 18:50:16 2015] You deliver a critical blast! (292159)
[Wed Jun 10 18:50:16 2015] Test One Hundred Three is struck by a rain of scythes.

Magicians have a base critical damage mod of 270%, on top of the 100% base damage (totaling to 370%).

If you calculate the damage with a 100% crit damage mod:
    (15912*4.7)+((15912*3.75)*4.7)+(1193*4.7)+((957*((4+12)/7))*4.7)=371123

If you calculate it without the 100% crit damage mod:
    (15912*3.7)+((15912*3.75)*3.7)+(1193*3.7)+((957*((4+12)/7))*3.7)=292161

That's without truncation so the values are like 2 points higher than in game values, but the point is that the 100% crit damage mod is currently not functioning properly.

The Soul Flay Effect spells are triggered as a casting proc which, by the way the system works, does not charge the player mana or enforce casting timers and a few other requirements.

Removing the mana cost on the triggered spells should not have any noticeable impact and was done to ensure a consistent implementation so that those spells would not be inadvertently focused by spells or AAs that check for a minimum mana cost.

As a (probably consistent) rule of thumb for the changes that were made:
    • "N/A -" prefixes any spell that was made for PC spells or AAs that was not used or scrapped. These spells may eventually be deleted/re-purposed but were just renamed now as a precaution. If you see any "N/A -" spells being triggered or used on live or test please let us know.

    • Spells that are cast by AA buttons, triggered as procs through the AA system, triggered as doomed or triggered spells via spells via the AA system have 'generally' been flagged as level 254 for the class that by any means causes those spells to occur.
A notable exception to this rule is Bards because the system treats Bard level 254 and 255 spells very differently:
      • More specifically, having a bard level 1-254 on a spell causes it to be treated as a song and not a spell.
      • This means if AA spells like Throne of Heroes were tagged 254 for bards they would not be able to duck to interrupt the casting and casting the spell would interrupt the bard's current song/melody series.
      • This is also the reason that the Dirge of the Sleepwalker AA and the classic mission bard template AA spells continually reapply themselves like songs until stopped.
    • If a spell has level 254 for all classes (sometimes not bard) then it is likely a spell attached to a template (shroud) AA or is an AA every class can use. Otherwise it may be a proc or doomed spell that may have some focus interaction that is intended for any class to trigger.

    • The reason that those two spells you have listed are CLR 254 is because they are template AA spells for the cleric step of the task 'An Epic Request' where the template is specifically a cleric class shroud and the abilities were made only for that entry. (It ultimately does not have much impact and is just more of a book-keeping thing.)

Are we going to see fixes to anniversary tasks that send you to the static zone instead of the appropriate instance? And will anniversary tasks be extended due to these bugs?
  15. Crystilla Augur

Your first question is answered in the 2nd bullet above (very top of the patch notes).
  16. Corwyhn Lionheart Guild Leader, Lions of the Heart

Missed that though it was all TLP stuff.... the second question now comes up.. will they extend the annivesary missions otherwise they end before the patch comes in.

I can not express all the ways that this post makes me happy.

Everything I thought was an NPC spell getting ALL/254 must have been a shroud spell. Some of the first spells I saw with that change were the classic dragon breath spells, so seeing some of the last spells be the same thing with a different class was weird. It's not something I was really worried about, since it doesn't allow anything silly like heroic characters auto-scribing those spells.

Might want to toss that into the patch notes so people know to look out for it. Hard to tell just by looking at the spell file, since there's a TON of duplicated names.

Good luck in your efforts to clean up 15 years of technical debt and inconsistencies in the eq spell system!

Next up: consistency with the spell casting messages?
  19. Ferry-Tunare Augur

Not sure why the progression servers would need that Beimeith!
