Is it gone forever? I have'nt played in quite some time was gonna poke around and it seems to be gone. Is there a new resource site for EQ Warriors these days?
  2. Kamea Augur

Appears like someone didn't pay the hosting bill.
  3. Pwning Lorekeeper

No idea. I had been a mod there, and checked the site daily, and w/in the last week it's crapped out. Unfortunately I dont know who was paying for hosting, or how to contact them, so I'm kind of in the dark there

Probably Shorty (sp?) who might be able to be contacted through Yoda (or Raaj - not that I know how to contact either of them.)

Pretty sure the poll on dw vs sword and board broke that site

Same position as Pwning. There are a couple of active mods, but Admins are MIA.

I don't have any admin contact info either.

I certainly hope it's not gone altogether. I posted a good bit on TSW and so did a bunch of other folks who knew more about the game than I did.

You're welcome to post on the mage tower. Tanks will get lots of love there. :p

If not that then necro or beastlord boards would be equally happy.

What a coincidence. Didn't Paladins have a 2H DPS epic vs 1H epic plus shield controversy just before Paladins of Norrath was shut down 10 years ago?

I don't think the 40ish responses to that poll suggesting DW (a DPS setup) should be the Warrior tanking setup or demands by less than a small handful of Paladins for a 1H epic shut down either site. The lack of up to date information and serious discussion about real issues did the job. People stopped posting there.

Yet you use it as your main source of evidence when debating weapon set ups

The only "evidence" from TSW that I've used when debating weapon set ups is citing:
"A poll posted on The Steel Warrior received so little interest from Warriors that only 41 players responded.
When tanking challenging content (group OR raid) as a warrior, would you prefer:
    Dual wielding 27 65.85%
    Sword + shield 14 34.15%
    2h of some sort 0"

    I've also cited:
Warriors initially having higher Bash skillcaps than knights
Warrior only shields including one before Kunark
developers remarks about the 2H damage bonus adjustment and recognition of DW providing better DPS for those melee classes who can do both.
Warriors included in Shield Block and benefiting from shield AC not being subject to the softcap
    common archetype/common attributes - sets/subsets
oh, maybe 100 different ways of showing a shield is to a tank what red suspenders are to a fireman using information not found on TSW and discussed primarily on this forum.

I'll admit to posting about Loituma Girl, the Hatsume Miku knock off, and twin leek spinning on TSW but that was not for consumption in serious websites like this one.:D

Just because it may be your "only," it doesn't take away from the fact that it's your main source. You've posted it, cited it, and talked about that ONE POLL dozens of times to the point that it's practically your only source of evidence outside some farcical, convoluted exemplification of some pseudo historical reference.

With the beastlord site recently dropping off too, let the community vote on a class rep who can actually sticky some posts and make straight class subforums.
  14. Battleaxe Augur

I've talked about making shields more practical for Warriors in probably 100's of posts. I've noted skillcaps, bash, Warrior only shields including one prior to Kunark, gear appropriate to a role, actual history, fantasy novels we've all read, devs apparently agreeing that shields should be made more practical for Warriors (Shield Specialist),...

Hardly "only source of evidence".:D But thanks for reminding me to post that poll from TSW again. $$$
I doubt that SOE would go for individual class forums and a class rep (especially one voted on by players). AFAIK, and I don't know nothing at this point, community representatives (if such a program still exists) act as non-disclosure bound sounding boards and not discussion/issue leaders on the forums.

Probably as much posting in 5 days in this thread than the last 5 months at TSW, minus a couple of spammers ofc
  16. Battleaxe Augur

Well I liked Fooba's screenshot of his gear.

I too checked regularly but nothing of note was posted and I surefire was not going to contribute anything there ever again. The DW 24/7 campaign (see that poll and what it says) disguised as give DW a role (wipes teary eyes) was too much for me.

I particularly disliked the stances and the complications they introduced which to my mind were a direct consequence of DW as much as possible fans pressing the issue. They made the soup, they can simmer in it.

When a class site has been around for years you've already accumulated enough information from the fundamentals to current and unless things here and there drastically change what would there be to add?
There comes a time in which a site is basically a reference at that point because you don't typically go back and rehash things for the sake of something to talk about.
That would be the reasoning for any of the class sites of late to not have as many new posts, anyway.
  18. Battleaxe Augur

There was information that could not be found elsewhere. For example, melee attack pseudocode with some insights and comments by a developer.

There was an aggro estimator and a spreadsheet for comparing weapons. Even if things change those changes could be factored in. For years I used Copeland's Weapon Analyzer and wished I had the sourcecode. With that spreadsheet we had a lot of convertible into sourcecode progress.

Yeah a lot was out of date - which didn't mean that it should be out of date. It just meant no one was expending energy anymore.

It was pointless to post on TSW, and it is not pointless to post here. Any topic will be derailed by one or two individuals who can't conceive that there can be multiple views or opinions. If your opinion does not line up with theirs (which it rarely does) then the thread get so inundated with them arguing their point over and over that the majority leave to keep their sanity.
