Worst DLC in the games history??

Oh...I'd never GO-go (rip George Michael)...so no, you cannot have my stuff. Besides the transfer would take years at 4 or 5 items at a time.;)

I'd probably just adjust my time to 30 min visits for 21 days to accomplish whatever bar is required that day, collect my stabilizers and await the eventual next 'clean sweep' at DBG to see if things change at all.

By the way, since we're talking about farming... I hope you noticed the changes in task "A Daily Dose of Vilainy (Heroism)"? ;)

I've been here since launch. I definitely wouldn't call it the worst. The open world is new and not too recycled and I like the snow in January. The story mode you have to do once is tedious on 5 alts, but at least we only have to do it once. I'd like a teleport to get to the areas faster. Solo is just OK, kill a bunch of demons down some long hallways. Alert was OK til it became the raid too.. that felt lazy and rushed. Overall I'd give this DLC a 2/5 but it could be way worse.
  4. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I didn't but I'd guess that is now the new OP components? Unless they also made them full pieces and made them tradable, I'll still skip it. Waste of time having to run it all week just to get what amounted to 1 untradable drop piece last DLC.
  5. Rejchadar Inquisitor

    Tradable.

Well...we'll see then I guess. Next week though. Got 1/3 of an intro mission to run on a LOT of toons still.:D

You get the option of choosing either the Brainiac Returns, Harley VS A or Reckoning catalysts you feed into that respective DLC's OP item in Hero/Villainy and it's Tradable (Account Bound) so it can be farmable on alts if you want to help grind for the OP items.

I noticed. I also noticed I can't cash in the first one I finished, so no free OP belt food for me. :/

At least the completed Ace Chemicals mission sitting in my journal, unclaimable, has some company, now.

You gotta go to the mission window and pick whichever catalyst you want. Sometimes you gotta press twice or firmly I think the mission is hesitant to close because it wants to make sure you choose wisely. Hopefully that helps. It's under the Source Marks of the description of the mission pick from 3 recent episodes OP catalysts.
  10. TI99Kitty Loyal Player

I can't open the mission window because I have the unclaimed "mission complete" notification clogging up my journal. Or is that where you're saying I have to choose the catalyst?
  11. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

It would depend on the quantity for me to actually do it or not. Tradable, I'd say for sure it's attractive, but account bound less so. I haven't even brought a 2nd alt through the intro yet, so doubtful I'll start flying around Gotham looking for thugs.

I'm pretty content to let this OP item and entire DLC go...as long as I get the bar filled out. At Xmas time I subbed up for the Hulu/Max/Disney bundle so I've got shows to catch up on.:D
  12. Dominic Blue Dedicated Player

Yes it's kinda awkward clicking on it I'm not sure if you're PC or not but you gotta tab thru the Mission description box and hard press or choose a catalyst in the list to complete the mission.

Long time player, I been around like 12-13 years. I will also agree this is the worst DLC I have ever played. I have zero urge to continue to play. What made the devs think that 2 hours of a story mode where we constantly have to return to the pub 20-30 times would be fun to us? To the top that off, you force us into the story mode version of the solo where you take off our movement mode. Really? How was that not laughed off in the meeting when someone brought that up? I was looking forward to farming on alts but I refuse to suffer thru that experience again.

I have friends who were grinders that got 850-900+ sps that stopped coming on. I feel like I will be doing the same. I'll probably come on for seasonal and stabilizers and thats it.

I don't think it is, mainly because it has new elements which i highly appreciate, even though i do think there's a lot wrong with this dlc.

My biggest compliment would be that they actually made an open world/area that looks different and makes me feel i'm somewhere else, even the DC maps though technically a different city just gave me generic city/gotham/metroplis vibes. I've always had a soft spot for the Atlantis dlc, because it was the last dlc that really gave me a different world/area vibe and even going to different areas in Atlantis on-duty content (operation style on-duty content) and nothing since then has even come close to that imo, heck i would say most things we've gotten since then have been nothing more than low effort re-skin after re-skin. This area feels like actual effort has gone into it and in terms of actual world building more of this i say.

I appreciate the obelisks and escort ghosts mechanics as well, it's something different which we've been wanting for so long, it's the same reason why i like Typhon/the last boss in the God of Monsters raid, it's something other than another damage sponge boss (side note, i'd love to see more giant bosses like that, truly too beaucoup). The problems arise when that's pretty much all there is, in the introduction mission you have to do these objectives, then if you do the alert you have to do these same objectives, then in the raid guess what...again these same objectives. The alert and raid are particularly bad because the introduction mission is at least a one-off, but two different on-duty missions that people run many times in a dlc's lifespan being carbon copies of each other is absolutely crazy and it boggles my mind how that idea even moved past the brain storming stage of development.

The actual content imo is not bad per se, it's just that it gets copied and pasted so much, which will definitely wear on people more than usual i think and the execution could be better.

The ghosts could use a minor speed boost and/or a toggable button with a stop and go icon above their head like Batman/Cyborg in the Queen's Row Penitentiary duo, so 1 person doesn't constantly have to be pretty much tethered to them and it wouldn't feel so much like just going through the motions.

After the introduction mission you can completely cut out the puzzle rooms imo to shave off some tediousness, you know of said puzzles by now and if you really would want to replay them you can already do so in the open world/introduction mission version. In general you could remove some stuff here and there (and consequently lower the demons feats) to shorten the solo quite a bit, this is coming from someone who's only played introduction and elite so it might just be a suggestion purely for elite, for all i know you speed through it in 5 minutes in normal difficulty.

Both raids should be something completely different, i don't know how else i can say it, one raid being an older existing raid with just higher CR enemies and another being just a carbon copy of the alert feels like an early april fool's joke, but no one is laughing. Difficulty all around is meh/on the easier side, but honestly i've also had dlc's that i disliked because the scale tipped more to the top 5% of players difficulty which i also don't like, so i'll still take this dlc over the other, but this dlc does seem to tip to close to the other end of the difficulty scale.

A smaller positive note to end on, i also quite like the ''Hear ye, hear ye'' and ''Gneis Rock'' feats, i quite like seeing these easter eggs and figuring something out type feats.

I think this DLC/Chapter could of been pretty good but they just went overboard with some things and not far enough with some things...

I did this today. Turns out this was also why I couldn't claim the Ace Chemicals mission, either. I was supposed to choose between something like 8 identical Mission Completion boxes.

It never occurred to me to click over to the rewards section of the description in the Journal, because any other time in the game that we have to choose our reward, we get the loot picker.

Exactly. It's not the worst DLC for DCUO. It's just not alt friendly. I agree with the idea someone else had: Once one toon on an account plays through the story, there should be an option on alts to skip it, the way alts have the option to skip the tutorial.

Oh totally. I had to figure it out when there didn't seem to be any new reagents in my inventory. They may do that from now on in newer journal missions too so I wouldn't be surprised if we see less lootbox pickers. :D

I've been playing for 13 years and have at least 27 characters. This new DLC is not my favorite.
LIKE - I do like the new environment map in the game. I wonder if they will reskin it in the future without the snow?
DISLIKE - I'm not a fan of the story. I would rather be fighting Lex Luthor and his troops, than wave after wave of demons and zombies. I'm not a horror fan, and I dislike the demonic aspects of the DC Universe.
The intro story was so long, there is no way I am playing this with my Alt characters. Only one or two characters will run this episode.
The price of gear from the vendors keeps going up, and the reward gear from the treasure chests only give a +1 or +2 bump most of the time.

QUESTION - Have they shown what the event gear rewards for completing 20 days look like?
  20. Captain Catalunya Well-Known Player

Beyond the disappointment (difficulty, length of the intro, same instances...), a couple of things that perhaps no one has mentioned.

There were people who asked to be able to do alerts/raids with fewer people. We already have it. Within 1 year, whoever wants to do the feats in this chapter will not require groups of 8.

There were people who asked for more crafting in the game. We already have it. And although the prices may seem excessive, those who lack the feats of 25,000 exobites may now have the motivation.
    ...

Conclusion: this chapter is not aimed at:
    - I have been since 2011
    - I have +900 SP
    - I have spent thousands of $

It is aimed at a newer audience.

The disappointment is real. And the failures are numerous. But, strangely I feel positive about the new approach. And there are more phases in the EUPC than the sum of Brainiac+Harley
