    It is important to note the above. Clipping is not going away. Weapon Mastery is a new way to play, in addition to clipping.

    I think you'll see you're way off base here. Weapon Mastery, if anything, is a deepening of the combat systems and the options a skilled player will have in his arsenal at any given time.

    Right. How do combos come even close to matching this? One seems vastly easier to play against. (Hint: It's not clipping.)

    I love some of the weapon animations -- staff, in particular. I still use it for solo play in all it's tap-tap-hold-hold-hold glory. I dislike clipping because you don't see the animations, even if I myself clip while healing. I don't WANT it to be the most efficient way to do things, I just don't see how it won't STILL BE the most efficient way to do things.

    It's guessing based on no visual feedback vs. reacting to visual feedback. I just ... yeah. Clipping still seems superior.

    Clipping isn't going away, and nobody is forced to use the new system. It's an option.

    There seems to be a great amount of misinformation going around about this, can you please clarify?

    This is my understanding of what is happening:
    You guys (the devs) are not getting rid of clipping. People are just misinterpreting what was said on stream. You are planning on doing 2 things which will potentially affect clipping:
    1) doing a pass over on all powers and changing the animation times to be within 1-1.2 sec
    2) adding a non-zero animation time to jump clipping

    The first will make the fast powersets slightly slower (as they already have ~1s animation times) and the slow powersets faster (i.e. likely no more cast bar powers).

    The second is where people seem to be greatly misinformed. The way jump clipping works right now, a player can effectively clip one offensive (a.k.a. utility) power into another (w/ a rifle tap btw) if done fast enough or with macros. In other words, jump clipping takes the animation time completely down to zero if done fast enough. While you guys do want certain powers to be jump clippable, you do NOT want such an extreme clip capability of ZERO animation time. Therefore, you intend on adding a nonzero animation time to jump clipping. Also, you are listening to feedback, so it likely won't ever hit live and be something outrageous.


    To reiterate, you guys are NOT getting rid of clipping. You are simply adjusting it slightly so that there are no completely zero animation times on a jump clip/cancel.

    Well, since they are locking any related threads, and I doubt I could possibly expect people to respond to my idea in the middle of this one, all I can say is this: Please try to find some way to allow for more customization in the multi-weapon options. I love the concept, but would like to pick the weapons that would best fit my vision of my character, not have them so deliberately chosen for me.

    They said in the webcast the animations they need to work on, or at least that's what I heard near the end. But anyway i get your point. As far as I see it, weapon mastery is an addition to clipping, and you cans till clip your powers while performing weapon mastery. I guess just an alternative to those who didn't like clipping to be able to put out more damage as well. But DLC 10 is still far off and too early to judge how this will impact actual clipping.

    "Here is one of the veterans of this game talking. I know this isn't much but the currently gameplay is what makes me "fall in love" for this game and held me for over 27 months.

    Why nerf the jump clips? There's lots of lovers of DCUO, mostly of dps, that loves to play with the jump clips and powers to powers clips.

    With this new changes, I will not be able to clip my 1h combos with FearGas + jump clip > Gauss Grenade like before.
    I will not be able to clip my CryoField with Intimidation.
    This is just one small example of the change in the gameplay.

    My point is:

    The currently clipping system is fun for mostly of the players.
    I agree with the new Mastery Weapons system because seems fun and pretty awesome.

    I don't clip my powers because it does more damage, isn't the only reason. I clip the powers because it's fun!!! Is fast and heavy gameplay, is needed lots of tests and time training to masterize this. Why take off?

    The devs could make the new changes work together with the currently system.


    For sure I will be one of the players that will stop to play with this "fix" on clip system coming out. I have lot of friends that play this game for over 2 years and they will not play anymore because of an unecessary nerf.

    Change your minds about it and make both system work together!!!"

    Tell me a thing...
    Are the clips like Cryo Field clipping into Intimidation are being nerfed?
    Or
    Fear Gas jum clipping being nerfed?
    Or
    Snap Trap combo to Fan jump clipping being nerfed?
    Or
    Any power clipping into trinket clippling into soder clipping into another consumeble like karmic hex, being nerfed?

    If yes... Me and mostly of my friends will stop to play :/.

    PS: I can tell all the types of clips I know if it's needed.

    Yup, you summed up my concerns better than I did :)

    As it is, it appears to just be another tool FOR CLIPPERS instead of an ALTERNATIVE. I just hope the devs have thought about this -- and if they have, that weapon mastery isn't a PR move only. "See guys, you don't have to clip to be one of the best!" even if, really, you do.

    I like Weapon Mastery, it looks.......fun. BUT I don't agree with the new changes to clipping. I thought you were supposed to choose how you wanted to play...

    They are not getting rid of clipping, they are just adding new mechanics that greatly reward you with extra damage if you DO NOT clip...

    So yeah, pretty much they are getting rid of clipping. Why else would you wanna clip if it does less damage? smh for this new mechanic, dcuo just turned into another slow paced mmo. It's losing it's identity and originality :(

    While I don't disagree with you, I feel as if the combat system is already one of the better ones in any Ammo I have played, and I have played quite a few. However, I also feel as if there are much better things you could dedicate your time and resources to in order to keep hardcore players logging in, such as actual, engaging, challenging content. Also please, I understand most of the games money comes from casual players, but dumbing down the game is driving off the players that put real time and effort into playing what you guys create. Thank you

    I know it was tuned to matching clipping. Tunso said that. It also gives an option of gameplay that befits Sorcery, Ice, Fire, Earth and Electric. If it does anything to Celestial, Gadgets, Mental, HL and Rage...it'll bring the pack together. In terms of the vast balance passes, like no range charges, animation times, jump cancel timing, etc. we just need to try it out. It's not like the ship is heading back to harbor on this one. At best, you should be offering advice on which direction forward you'd like to see it steered. WiP is an amazing opportunity to participate in feedback that can influence the result. Don't squander it on knee-jerk reactions. We have no idea what the numbers will be.
