With the announcement of the renown reform system, are we ever going to get a revamp to the SP?

That actually wasn't even close to my point. You could still biff feats in clamped or endgame content if you don't follow what's needed. Bosses burning in a certain order, adds not dying, waiting a certain amount of time before doing something. All those things are still possible issues if someone can't control their Pew-Pew. Having to control it a bit more to not make Scarecrow glitch out in Arkham is just a more extreme example. Or how about a feat like jumping WW's pulse ring in CT? Do you know how many groups don't get that feat because someone can't be bothered to hop 1 ring cause 'it'll interrupt my rotation bro!' Maybe the clamp will fix that when it hits EEG? I literally mentioned having to do a feat solo because people couldn't be bothered to block and roll out of a fire pool in CHM, and that's endgame content. And it's something that honestly you should be doing if you are playing properly anyway...you know...avoiding AOE pools.

And I never said any feat was unobtainable before OR after clamp...except for 'lightbringer' which, unless fixed recently, is actually bugged out. I'm not the one in here like some of you saying runs or feats were impossible 'BeCaUse Of Da BUrN'. Now was getting feats faster? Most times yes....but the point was brought up that some were 'glitched' before the clamp....that's just not true.

And please...show me where I said anything about the clamp needing to be removed...especially for THIS particular issue. All I said was the adjustable queue option would have worked better pre clamp. But, it might still be beneficial even now....if done right. However, I can 100% guarantee you, if it were removed, any boss YOU say would 'always' glitch, I could make NOT glitch very easily. Would you be done 60 seconds before me? Sure....well, except you'd have to re-queue if the boss glitched out...but who's counting that, right?:D Not you I'm sure.

Yeah, there was something to that effect. But the 'CR SKIP' tokens came out in 2017 during the anniversary. I think that's what we are talking about when we reference 'skips'.

No duh...maybe this is why so many jump on your theories....because you take some offhand line someone says on a Comicon panel and run with it like it's gospel truth (with no references to back things up ever...I might add).

It's still bugged, but obtainable. It requires someone staying behind and reactivating the fountain after the auras are lost because of the bug. I managed to get it solo recently, queuing on 4 accounts, so it's pretty easy. That's the kind of thing some people are able to work out or research, but expecting that regular players should know things like that - including how to avoid glitches caused by power creep - would be ridiculous, wouldn't it?

I wasn't claiming you said that. I was stating the fact, that at this point the power creep is so much higher, that the game at lower tiers could be breaking in all sorts of unpredictable places without it. So the debate whether it was/is/would be possible to get certain feats, or finish certain runs unclamped, is moot. Because at this point you can't know whether or not you'd be able to do them, without testing all old content unclamped, which you have no way of doing.

Yes, yes. I'm sure you are very skilled at not doing damage, or whatever. :) Now, my point was: instead of bragging how - after a decade of playing this game - you were able to navigate the bugs and glitches caused by power creep, back when stats were a lot lower and therefore glitches were less likely - you can just learn how to play properly, without worrying that performing your role as DPS will break the game. It's a much simpler concept to explain to players, who haven't spent as much time playing this game as you have.

Yes, I'm aware there is a work around...that CAN work, although it's still not reliable. But you think being able to work that out vs just saying "hey, don't blow up this boss for like 10 seconds so we can get a feat...or so he doesn't lock up" are pretty much the same thing. Got it.

No...can't test it, however I can go off existing evidence that apparently If you or Proxy or Deity (what happened to that guy) or a dozen other people in here who personally witnessed like 99% of bosses glitching 'all the time' were in a group....you'd have issues others were able to easily avoid...I have no reason to believe that still wouldn't be the case.

And the discussion I was chiming in was about feats being 'bugged'. A feat isn't bugged if it's attainable by doing something differently. BTW. This is still true today. If you are hard charging the Hydra in last boss of AOD, you won't get any counts on the adds for the fire hydrant feat. Oh, no...it's bugged. How ever can we get that feat done? If you don't leave 1 guy out of the boss fight in Return to Nexus you can't get the feat to avoid the adds coming in...must be bugged, right? Oh, no....my boss damage numbers will be soooo looooow.

You have to co-ordinate the group. You have to hold back on burning the boss. No creep needed. Guess we should toss these invalid feats, right?

Ermagherd....I's been insulted as a DiPs...how ever shall I go on? Yeah...'play properly', like art swapping and cheese maneuvers to squeek out 10% more damage....then come in and complain about power creep.

    Sounds about right.

Tried to clip out the entire post, but managing this on Android is beyond ridiculous...

Anyway, I might be one of the few who actually appreciated Power Creep for reasons other than "God Mode". It allowed me to use powers that were actually fun and play this game on a more casual level. I don't know about any of you, but using the same exact META rotation over, and over, and over, and over, ad-nauseum, just drains any little bit of fun this game seems to provide. I was able to mitigate too much damage output while also having *gasp* fun at the same time. Nothing broke in content because I knew that I didn't need to blow through an end game style loadout (ridiculous notion, I know...), and drop a proverbial nuke on content that was 3+ years old.

I absolutely cannot stand that this game caters to such an Elite crowd. Especially to a point that the game doesn't even feel like we're experiencing a DC themed game/content anymore. I still firmly believe that old content should be more or less a playground for people. A place for players to have a bit of fun with their character and not have to do the sweaty rotations, not need 800+ Skill Points, and not need to wear the best gear to maximize damage. Obviously this is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

I'm also still peeved at the Arkham alert I ran on my alt... there was no reason a group of End Game players should not have gotten the speed feat. We weren't even close, and we were blitzing through the content at a relatively quick pace. Especially considering a group of at-level players achieved (but didn't receive...) the speed feat in Smallville (an alert in the same Tier bracket) without even trying.

    THIS!!!!

And I don't know how LFM just can not... for the love of DCUO... grasp that concept.

Everything, to him, is just "You want 'God' mode" and "Easy feats"...

NO... I just want to have some #@$&ing fun play a #@$&ed video game.

Last time I ACTUALLY played was 2018, and I don't remember CR skips. Maybe they released right at the tail end and my memory is just foggy.
  9. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Meh, I don't worry about doing anything anyone else does in the game. I play how I want, use the powers, allies and artis I want. I don't worry anymore about being a 'elite' player (never did really), so that part doesn't bother me. I make sure my job is done correctly (and yeah, that means sometimes holding burn, or doing something besides hard charging to the 'top' of the board).

I've really all but given up on the game, and am just in 'maintenance mode' for the most part. I keep my gear up, I keep up on feats that I know I won't want to circle back to (big counts or limited time events) and amass enough loot/marks that I can keep my money up to buy my TC items. Yes, 'god mode' was fun too, but I doubt I'd even do that if it were an option at this point. It honestly was just more an efficiency thing for me back in the day, rather than some feeling of 'power' or excitement to blow stuff up. Of course I also don't run one off every time I see my name at the top of the board either...so maybe I'm not the player they cater to.
  10. Grim931 Dedicated Player

That's pretty much my playstyle as well. I'm not about to get sweaty for this game. I do efficient damage/support when I'm being somewhat serious, but it was also nice to have other loadouts that certainly would not have been efficient at end game and were strictly for fun in content that was more than 2 DLC's old.

I've also rarely, if ever, run into any problems with content breaking while playing this way. So it was incredibly easy to avoid if you just didn't get stupid with powers... obviously if you're using the same loadout/playstyle in End Game Elite content in content that's 3+ years old, you're going to have problems. There was just no reason to, and you weren't impressing anyone in that old content playing that way.

Bro...45min in Arkham alert? i know its a long alert but...what the hell were you guys doing? trimming the plants? collecting buckets of ice? I run it today on my Water alt (via random Q) and beat it in under 20min, and we basically 3man it the whole run. We could also have gotten the Nightmare Dr feat if we went for it. Time was more than enough to get it too.
Maybe those other "high level end game DPSs" were just high level but not good. With the cr skips and how easy it is to reach end game, and how hard it can be to lvl some arts, i can see that being the case.

The Smallville speed feat is broken. And it has been for a looong time now.
  12. Grim931 Dedicated Player

I have no clue, and it could just be an exaggeration on my end. It was a while ago.

That being said, we ran it normally. There was at least 1 other player with Elite gear/end game equipment. We were all in Damage role. I was on a relatively low level alt, but had a 200 wolf pack art and high augments from transferring experience from a main. My damage was on par with the other two, and the elite player was leading. There was also one player who was trailing most of the time, but was present for boss encounters.

I have no clue how we didn't get it. Just seemed to be a normal run. We weren't struggling by any means. Just weird to me how an alert can be so vastly different in the same tier. I had no idea about Smallville being broken, so that obviously makes sense now.
  13. LowFlyingMoon Loyal Player

Define "normally". If you were with one of those groups that stops to kill every trash mob in the corridors - which some would consider "normal" - then you had no chance of getting the speed feat. It was always meant to be achieved by skipping most enemies, even - or especially - when it was current EG.

Smallville alert speed feat is attached to a version of the instance that has been removed. The only way to get it is by using a CR skip.

Even with the clamp, power creep is becoming an issue again. I bugged out Ra's al Ghul in League of Assassins Alert just the other day, in battle tank role, no less :D
  17. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Yeah, but Ra's would sometimes bug back in the day even if you didn't nuke him. There are just some spots in this game they wrote bad code for and don't seem able to figure it out. Again, I'll point to the 'lightbringer' feat. It used to work as designed. Then one day it started removing the light from whatever team members see the cutscene out of the blue. A few years later, they just don't seem to know how to fix it. Most glitched bosses go bonkers when it's not a straight start to finish fight. Obviously there is an inherent problem, especially revolving transitions from gameplay to a cutscene (where Ra's also bites it too), and I don't think they can necessarily 'fix' it just by changing burn levels....again.

PS. Meanwhile people are pushing for a 4th arti, or the ability to stack even more ally benefits on top of what we have today.

I have an idea, maybe a like totally crazy idea, but what if..., we are not capped at measly +15CR above the episode combat rating but more!?

Even when just a few cr lower back then, Ice Tanking was fun.
Now it's just not gear even with 15 CR higher.
  20. Grim931 Dedicated Player

I'm considering a normal run as in terms of the level of effort by the group. We didn't skip a lot of enemies, but we also didn't stop to fight every last enemy. We completed the objectives and moved on. The group in the Arkham alert and the group from the Smallville alert were practically identical in terms of group members and overall effort.

We achieved the Smallville feat by doing that run normally. We went through the run in the same exact fashion, we completed objectives and moved on.

What I'm getting at is a lack of consistency and balance within the same tiered content. Groups consisting of End Game level players, with end game gear, and basic knowledge of what to do should be able to achieve basic feats like this without really trying in the same difficulty level of content across the board.

It just makes the lack of balance and maintenance in EEG content glaringly obvious when this happens. This is only one example, but I'm sure there are more. I know I've seen other examples in other tiers. I might have better ones if I played EEG regularly, but I don't.
