Why do we have a test server if you are going to ignore the feedback?

They successfully did that with me well before this change. Those reward boxes that had end game gear/currency in them was a pretty big reward for most of my alt characters, and pretty much the entire reason I subscribed/played as much as I did.

The less Alt friendly the game went, the less I played, until I ultimately stopped and just watched the forums to see if anything changes that would make it worth my time to come back.

So far, it's making me happy I quit and saved the cash.

That's why I included 'still' in there. I'd guess MOST people, especially those of us not willing to mortgage our house to play a game, already retired alts....I know I have.

We had scattered npc's before and it got changed due to feedback then.
2/3 teleporters are not even directly leading to daily mission npc's.
We had pretty much no reply on any of the topics by the devs the whole time it has been on public test.
If they really want to try something new for immersion, thats great, but if its not communicated its impossible to properly test and give feedback accordingly.
As much as I laugh about conspiracy theories on other topics, there is just too much aligning here to not be at the very least partially true.

Yup I casually run alts and it took me half a day to do the convoy bounty on them. That is tedious and really blows incentive to run the alts.

I Wouldn't mind the immersion of the NPCs around the map if the quest auto completed. But having them spread out to get the mission then remembering where they are to run back and return it is tedious indeed.

The one teleporter covers 2. It's right next to Nightwing, and Barda is on the building next to him. It's quite easy to run both zones right there, turn em in, then teleport back to Huntress to do the other one. If this zone was as big as OG Metro or Gotham, ok it'd be a pain, but this zone is not very big. I feel most people here are just upset with change in general and making this a far bigger deal than it is. Going as far to say they made it as tedious as possible just to hustle coins in the Marketplace, I dunno, I love conspiracies but that's hard for even me to swallow. If they double or tripled the cost of gear, I'd say that would be inline with the sale of marks.

I've already ran 5 toons through this open world and I've came up with a super efficient method that is on par with the speed of doing last DLC open world. Even waiting on the convoy gives you just enough time to do a zone, turn in mission go do a convoy. Then go to next zone do mission, go back to convoy...rinse and repeat.

Maybe the first day or two the average person might not remember where they are, but past that It's not an issue. It is a very small map. Teleporters go to the zones. Our minimap shows the exclamation points for the missions.

There are bigger issues in this DLC than the open world layout...like the graphical shadowbox, the head mods not working, OP belt glitch etc. And, to get back on topic, all this was mentioned on test and nothing was done...and to that I agree the test server is obsolete, the devs don't give feedback or make changes based on testing. Or the little they do, like with the red tornado artifact, it's in complete disagreement with the testers. At this point the test server is just using up resources and taking up server capacity, may as well shut it down.

Yes...it would be a 'bigger' pain if it were a large area like chaos gotham or Dakota City, but the hippity hop between mission givers, and ping ponging between convoy and dailies and to some extent, Brimstone is going to get old quick.

Most people, after a few days, find a comfortable route and method for doing the OW stuff that works way smoother/faster. For instance, on a weekly reset day, I was able to do the 200, 2 bounties and all 3 daily missions in about 8-10 min (assuming 200 was up when I was down there and I got in a good phase) in Bottled DC...on 'daily' visits, it was probably 3 or 4 min. I spent probably 2-3 min just running around collecting then cashing in the dailies in the new zone....not including firing 1 shot.

If you want to give them credit for 1 thing, the convoy can be done with 1 or 2 people easy enough. Unlike most bounties (including Brim) where you will need a group (MOST people at least) or will be there all day 'battle' roling them solo. But how hard should it be to find a phase most times?
  10. Emoney Loyal Player

Yeah, I think this is more about the change in society over the past 13 years. Everyone seems to be so geared towards instant gratification. Like imagine them bringing back OG central City bounties as a weekly and we have to find them throughout Metro and Gotham, I doubt most would go for that, although I would. I enjoy exploration in games.

And overall, this is an MMO. There's things that are just basic and I don't think they can alter it too much. There are always going to be quests, quest givers, and a sandbox area. I think some here would love for them to just cut out the quest givers altogether, have the missions auto load in our journal, and auto complete after they're done...at least that's how I read some of these responses. That, would take out immersion, eliminate the use of some of the DC iconics, and cut down playtime. Then, we'd have people on here complaining dailies are too quick and there's nothing to do. The devs can never please everyone and I feel bad for them some days.

I enjoyed this small change, I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoy playing games and exploration. I'm not treating this as a job where I need to do everything as fast as possible and be done, even when it's the same tasks everyday. I also think this change, even though it doesn't change the MMO formula, does make it different than other DLCs. I've grown tired of the same open world setup, teleporting in, seeing everything right there, picking up all the quests and going out and doing them. It's something that has been the same over and over and over again. This new approach I appreciated, even if others don't.
  11. lllStrichcodelll ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its definitely not as bad as if there were no teleporters at all, but its still shady doing this while making currency a direct purchase.

If it wouldnt be for the currency sale, I wouldn't have had any issues with the open world missions layout because I've got the time anyway, though the solo would still suck unless we have to do the puzzle once with both augments on the correct level.
After all it would've been gone much smoother with SOME COMMUNICATION (@Devs or further, @Management).
We have the creator league for news etc., but when it comes to actual report-worthy news, they're left in the dark or are under Nda, so even thats sort of pointless now.

We'll see if something changes based on current feedback (which resonates widely with what the feedback was on the test server threads), or if something gets openly commented about this from the Studio.

Here's the thing though. The game has changed drastically since those old days of CC bounties. What's funny is that back in the days of hour+ raids, 250 duo requirements, 1000 treasure boxes to hunt, briefs and investigations spread out over the Gotham and Metro maps, PvP things to do and all that other stuff that yeah....people would probably go nuts over today...you used to be able to be on the game 3-4 days a week for a few hours and still maintain a stable of 'top' level characters. Today? Especially if you are looking to maintain alts? You HAVE to be efficient (well...unless you want to whip out the old CC to 'catch up'). And yeah, while SOME might be looking for the lesiurely pace and wandering around the map, most are looking to get some stuff done then move on...either to an alt...or to another game. Guess what, even if they DID get rid of mission pickup or drop off...or made them a 1 button thing...YOU could still make your way around and enjoy the scenery or visit as many NPCs are in the area. I don't see why anyone's objection to the slowdown impacts your ability to have fun your way...can you say the same of the opposite?

BTW, I'm not really the guy to call out for wanting things done 'instantly'. I don't use replays, I don't buy currency. I grind and the only thing I really expect is that the things that are part of the DLC can be done in a timely fashion...like by the end of the DLC (like before the new DLC comes out). Late DLC feat introductions(for one) is one of the reasons why people always feel like knocking things out 'instantly', and that's something that was NEVER part of the old game. You think things are bad now? Wait till they introduce some high count feat in the solo in 2 months. Sheesh!

First I wasn't saying you specifically wanted things done instantly, it was a general statement towards everyone complaining it's too long.

Every DLC OW comes with some running around and exploration, I don't see the point in saying this or that...it's always there. As to viewing the opposite, why, this is how it is. For those that like it the other way, go do any of the other 30+ episodes that are set up that way. Why is it so hard to accept a change? Just because I like their creative change doesn't mean I have to look at how it could be, this is what we got...I like it, it's that simple. When it comes down to it, the people complaining about these NPC quest givers are just complaining for no reason. It literally is a 30 second difference in time from the old way. But what's cool is 1. It's a fresh change from the same old formula that made every DLC feel the same, and 2. Immersion because Miracle tells me to go find and help his wife, Gordan tells me Nightwing is out there go help him. The iconics are actually participating in the OW, not just at the safe area waiting to give me a mission. Also, as far as turning in missions, it's faster this way because they are in the zone we are doing the mission in. As opposed to clear on the otherside of the map waiting for me to come back.
  14. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

    Fair enough.

Yes, every DLC has some exploration. And as the map is pretty much new and it IS pretty cool looking, I did all that exploration on the first toon I was on. I think I spent almost 2 hours just acquainting myself with the mission areas, knocking out some Brimstones, finding the devices, briefings and some collections and figuring out how the convoy worked. Magically, all the alts I ran subsequently had immediate knowledge of all those things and didn't really need to explore as much (it's like they all share one brain or something), so having to hippity hop through the areas didn't really do much for them....hence why I'm not a fan.

Yes...it's what we got, and I personally think it will turn some players off running dailies or the content in general. I've already had a few people tell me they don't run the solo (and this is a few days in only) because of the simon game. Granted, that's just my opinion, so I suppose we'll see how it goes over the next month or 3. But it's not complaining for 'no reason'...obviously SOME people don't like the change.

And sorry, but immersion went right out the window the 2nd time I helped save Superman in Star labs solo, or Batman in the batcave.;) I mean, if you want immersion, the 4th or 5th time they need to tell us to go help Barda or Nightwing it should be something like 'Man....I told you this yesterday...quit coming to talk to me and HELP THEM!'

Now...that's immersion, and I'd hit the button for that.:D

surprised this thread is still up since OC just got kicked out of the program for saying this exact thing :p

we have dealt with this in the past though, so its par for the course for DCUO test server. i wouldnt get too upset, but i also mentioned that i am done testing things and submitting feedback, so i may have already moved on with this issue, so it is now a non-issue for me.

most games dont even do a test server anymore, so i feel like this is a thing of the past. i am okay with moving on from this style of players doing the devs job.

Totally. I ask myself if I’m a veteran player of DCUO and I’m getting lost in a new episode’s map what about newer players? And I know the answer. Newer players are definitely getting lost. But hey Daybreak kick content creators who speak the truth kick them out? Discord members who ask what’s going on? Ban them. Keep going down this road where you ban players etc. I’m sure it’ll work for you in the long run.

you have to send the feedback on the pre-test server if you want anything fixed. lol
