Problem is, they added a wrinkle to the mix by making the PvP style vendor require PvP Marks. They're just cosmetic items now. Their relevance to active PvP is minimal now, if there is any at all.

Would be legit, if the game offered as much to pvp players as it does for pve players. Just as an example, it's probably around 15 SP that can be earned from playing only pvp. The rest of the available ~190 SP are from non-pvp activity and that says a lot about the extent of content available for pvp and for pve.
As for your example with the HT mainframe, what does it have to do with PVE exclusively? The HT stuff are items that are usable for PVE AND PVP, so there is no reason to exclude pvp players from being able to buy them. The devs could just as easy have decided you need MoV instead of MoT to power your base (but of course they didn't because the largest part of the player base is scared of pvp, which would have driven them away). Your analogy is not applicable. There are no pvp items that are relevant for pve, especially if you consider the stat differences (which you would be able to compare if you had pvp armor). It's as simple as that. People just want the feats but don't wanna do what needs to be done to get them. It's nothing but laziness. Hell, you can even get MoV if you lose.

so what exactly is the pve relevance of the pve rare styles on vending unit #22? PVP players need to play pve in order to get the marks for them. It's only fair pve players have to play pvp then for the old pvp styles vendor.

There is a significant difference: The pve stuff that the exchange was introduced for is constant upkeep. Constant. The pvp stuff that you want but are unwilling to work for is not constant upkeep. You just have to do it once and then you'll have the styles and the feats forever and ever and you'll never have to pvp again. For the first pvp armor you don't even have to pvp once, you can just buy it for ingame cash.
I'm actually already tired of this discussion because people either fail or refuse to see that there is no comparison here, with all points that I have listed.

That didn't really answer my questions...

I still wonder why it would matter if players who never PvP could get gear and supplies that only matter in PvP?

Gearing up a new hero, this Marks of Triumph cap isn't really affecting me much. There's A TON of stuff to buy which could literally take forever to buy.
    T1 PVE, T2 PVE, T3 PVE gear.
T4 PVE gear costs like around 55000 a set and there's 4 sets.
85 Atlantean gear, 86 Trigon Gear, 90 Scion of Ion gear. I don't even know how much the total marks to complete these styles, all I remember is the legs cost 35000 marks LOL.

37500, actually. I have the costs written down so I know when to go buy a new piece. LOL Minus some of the face pieces and jewelry they added:
    • 260 per T1 set
    • 1600 per T2
    • 4200 (including face) for Central City
    • 10k for T3 sets
    • 50k for T4 sets
    • 265625 (including face) for T5 sets
Jewelry and weapons (where available) just add to those costs

    lol

People will try anything to "weasel" their way out of PvPing in T1 PvP gear, or (god forbid) do Legends until T2-T3.

It's not difficult to understand, mind you - the PvP-obsessed minority of DCUO are not really a pleasant or mature bunch, in my experience. And since PvP doesn't seem to be very popular atm it's not too difficult to run into someone way outclassing you, either by means of gear, SP, skill, experience or just pure need to prove one's worth, by pounding another player into the ground. Still, that's PvP - take it or leave it. It makes sense there are some PvP-exclusive rewards, just as there are PvE-exclusive ones (the vast majority).

Conversion of MoV to MoT is used by very few players, I imagine, since 2MoV=>1MoT and monthly rent on just HT mods alone is close to 4kMOT. That's way over 7k MoV. The most you can earn in a match is 40 MoV, if your PvP CR is 89+. So you'd need to play 100s of matches a month just for that. And if you wanted to buy high tier PvE gear that way - well, let's just say it's way simpler and faster to just run a few raids and dailies and get the 10s of thousands of MOT required. And really - how many players play only PvP and no PvE at all, anyway?

Even with all that, it's still very easy to turn it around. PvP players could be called "lazy" for not wanting to PvE for the Marks they need. But that's just getting into senseless name-calling and doesn't solve anything, as is saying people are "scared" of PvP. Kind of detracts from the discussion.

That's the problem with the whole "if you want the PvP-related stuff you should PvP" argument. It's too easy to reverse because of its simplicity. For some, it won't matter if those Marks result in items that can be used in both PvP and PvE. It's still easy (and valid) to say that if the rule is "PvP Marks needed for PvP purchases/items" then you should have to get PvE Marks needed for purchases/items via PvE. Fair is fair, otherwise it looks like favorites are being played.

in my opinion, you shouldn't be able to convert "down".

You should only be able to convert "up" once you reach the CR appropriate. (i.e.: you should be able to convert MoT into MoR once you're CR 86+, or into MoF once you're 100+)

I think this would make the game a lot better as it would ACTUALLY give incentive (outside of those boring grind-away feats that no one wants to do) to run lower tier content, it would give us a means of not worrying about the MoT cap, and it would allow us to bring back walkins because you would have to bring back every Mark there ever was and, without being able to convert down, it wouldn't create T5 30SP people that don't understand how to play.

I personally think this would have been the way to go from the very start... but that could just be me.
