You must not be running raids, they're is always a tank there. In alerts the roleless buff allows you to run without a tank if you have a decent healer.
I am finding Heal aggro is crazy in the alerts. Maybe I am missing something in my sorcery. I used to be a decent healer but now can't keep myself up. Anyone have suggestions so i can get gud?
I am going to look into this. I appreciate the help folks. I think I am just behond and need to catch myself up on proper game play
You're not missing anything. When adds spawn, their aggro table defaults to the healer role. If the tanks, troller or dps do not attack them, then they swarm the healer. Run with shields and get yourself a de taunt consumable. That usually helps me.
Alerts duos solo raids I only run my role side where it be tank troll healer. I don't need to dps ever with how the revamp went. And I where full tank or troll or healer gear with just a dps trinket and split mod
Depending on how many scripted attack there are in a 4man, running a tank there may actually be a detriment. You'd (not) be surprised by how many DPS don't realize how squishy they are without the defense buff.
We don't spam replays so we usually run raids once a week, twice maybe if we're legendary and want to use loyalty points.
Trollers are the ones that decreased. Tanks exist everywhere now in raids. Trolls can take some time to find.
Your really having problems finding a tank? Since the revamp with the amount of damage most of them do a lot of players (myself included) are not even bothering to switch to DPS from Tank during duos.. and A number of times I have out damaged the DPS. I did a Team Riddler duo a few days ago where I was on my Atomic Tank and the other guy was on his earth Tank and we beat the heck out of every thing in sight and were done in no time. And i have been on alerts and raids with my Water (as the healer) where we also had a tank.. Not all of them of course but quite a few. Could just be a timing thing.. We are still out there. Ask anyone in PvP.. they were so upset with the amount of damage a tank can do now in PvP they are screaming for a nerf.
seriously: in an alert, i dont like to have any other roles exept dps on my side. tanks make you squishy, why need a healer if you can block, no need for pot. i like event raids where you dont need any role and beat it with ease. not kidding.
Aggro is scripted I think. But I can heal alerts solo with just throwing 2-3 hots and keep them going by refreshing them so you don't run out of power. So, group shield, 2-3 hots, fast attack for regen (as many times as you can until shield & refresh cool down is over), refresh hots, fast attack for regen, shields when available etc. Only throw the big heal when people are starting to get around 25% health and then throw new hots again, rinse and repeat.
just a question . i had thought alerts were the place to learn your role to be more effective in raids. i had also thought that to get better at your role, playing with people you don't know ( pugging ) was essential. from what ive read, people are not interested in that. is that accurate ?
it depends. if you are playing with others in support role, then you will need to act as a team. this is easier in a group you create though LFG, where you can prepair accordingly or perhabs with friends and leaguemates. sure you can learn your role there, however: in a random Q, there will be most likely 3ppl you don't know. therefore, i would say that playing with only dps is way more easy: tank buff: a tank in your group makes everyone else getting killed way faster. you will allways need to wait for the tank to completely pull the aggro of everyone before you can act. if you dont or he fails, even once, it most certainly means you will die. a. lot. more. often. healer buff: if your healths drops low, the only thing you need to do is getting in block and you recover. if there is a healer in your group, that recovery is turned off. meaning your fate is not in your hands anylonger. and if your healer fails, most likely there are ppl getting killed and groups wipe on bosses. if you have a tank and a healer, thats where the fun realy begins: not only will you take a lot more dammage, your healers will also have to heal a lot more and faster. controll buff: you will have to try hard to even get out of power because the rolelessbuff does the trick pretty well. why even bother to have a troll? debuffs and stuns can help, in a small group however it is more of a help to have one more dps than the 25% a troll can weaken your targets. especially if you run in a group with a tank and heal, you will have an instance that takes much longer... and for all those reasons playing without roles make the game way more easy. playing with 4 dps: you can take more dammage, heal while blocking, replenish your power fast enough and now comes the best part: burning down your targets faster will help you out of risky situations sooner, meaning: a dead target wont thread you anylonger and you can recover fast if out of combat... not saying that roles are allways weaker than the roleless buffs, but random Q's often fail because the roles are not played well and do you realy want to trust your lives to some random ppl? also: the more burn the faster the alert, don't you think? and if the game forces you to run the same instance dayly for months, hwo wouldn't want to get it done fast after a while?
Don't grab aggro. Some aggro tables put healers just under tank, so anything you do in terms of attacking will make you noticeable. Having pets out (other than shielding pets - Boo Jr., e.g.) will pull aggro if the tank can't keep them all happy. If you find you're getting aggro, pop a shield, kite them to the tank / get away, and leave it. Don't use pets in add-heavy content if you're not masterful at targetting them on who you want dead... Throne, for instance, is a no for anything you do not directly control the target of. Sit back, HoT, Burst heal and pick up the rewards. Just don't try and kill anything that's obviously going to take time.
I don't know about alerts because most of the time I go 3dps 1heal, or if I go with leaguemates we do 3dps 1battletank earth or atomic. But for raids I always find Tanks relatively easy. The role that has been tough for me to find lately is troll, mainly because trollers got the worst deal out the revamp imo
I dont usually tank outside my league. Not in the mood to explain easy stuff to those insulting raging kids that dont want to listen
When I tank, and when I heal, I see the same problems. One or more DPS spiking, and either way I have to pull them out of the fire. No matter how hard you stick to your job, one constant spiker drains your power down. So unless I'm *absolutely confident* we can run the content 7-person, your focus is broken, and that's a large likelihood of a wipe. DPS that can't block are expected. DPS that die even after I threw a shield, DPS that won't pick up, and DPS that blindly throw themselves after adds when I just pulled them off them are why you rarely see PUG Tanks or Healers. Some of us consider it a challenge. Some of us just run with our Leagues. And no - it's not entirely the fault of DPS. Anybody that can't *actully* run their role is a liabiity - and none worse than the bad Healer, or the bad Tank .
I think there are more tanks since revamp, and fewer trolls. Partly because earth and rage are premier DPS powers post-revamp, and the number one FOTM power pre-revamp, mental, is average now. But also because controllers got bent over and shafted by the revamp. I used to main role troll, but only do it reluctantly now, because it's unenjoyable. I feel like I'm facilitating other people's enjoyment as a troll, now. I enjoy rage tanking far more, it's fast-paced and exciting and I'm constantly making important split-second decisions, which is how controlling was before revamp.
