when the renowned elite no longer serves

Once the elite reputation of a DLC is completed, the renown that falls off is no longer useful, could we not have the possibility of converting this renown into DLC currency/source mark, once the reputation of the DLC has been filled to 100%. For example, x rename would buy X amount of the converted currency?

Renown isn’t a currency. Why would they convert non currency to currency?

I know you have some quota to meet in answering every single poster's request for something new or changed in the game.. whether you understand it or not... with disdain or denial.

So allow me to translate for you:

He's asking for a way to turn it into currency to give a reason to do the elite version of an instance after all the renown has been made when it would then be rather pointless to do the elite.

Of course I could be wrong... and if I am...
Tolly, please forgive me for speaking for you... and let me know what you were really thinking.

I don’t think currency would be appropriate, but prestige may make sense in addition to a cash option (bump the cash up to what a new ‘plan’ can sell to a vendor for).

Imagine YOU talking about quotas lol.

Again, why should they convert a non currency to a currency? After a certain point exobytes lose value. Should we convert those to currency too? A bunch of stuff drops that lose value. Should everything be allowed to be converted to currency?

I think prestige would make the most sense but conversion to a reduced renown value to another content would also not be undesirable.

Why not just treat renown drops like SFFE and let a person choose between a commendation pack, which in this case would be for current renown only, or a source mark?

There's just too much of it for anyone that runs elite raids regularly. Converting it to any more than a single source mark a piece would be overpowered. I need to designate 5 minutes a day to remove it from my inventory.

    Hmm..

    Well..

I dont think there are enough players that would benefit from this. Only a small amount of players would benefit from any currency conversion of elite renown, and that may not be a good enough reason for the devs to consider working on it.

I think players should have the ability to toggle commendation box drops on and off. This would allow players to run elite content without those boxes taking up space if they have leveled up the content reputation.

Another suggestion is to make them sellable but not tradeable. This would allow players to sell the unwanted ones to a vendor and still keep them off of the broker. The leveling renown are able to be sold to a vendor, so I don't see why the elite ones need to be excluded.

trying to think of both sides.

maybe coming up with a few style items only purchasable with renown for that dlc similar to how things were with the Wonderverse and Legion vendors.

While I've benefitted immensely from the Anniversary elite box dropping current Shazamily renown I also think it's a mistake "cheapening" current elite gear. It's easier to obtain this dlc with first bosses in the elite solo and alert dropping a small amount. Wasn;t like that in previous dlcs if I remember correctly. With past dlcs the way it would work out for me is my main would get full elite, my primary alt would get to about 4-6 pieces and my two healers would usually end up with 2-4. This is without using replays (or just a few unlocks as granted by my monthly replays).

I currently have seven toons with full elite gear. It actually took me longer to finish off the regular set of khandaq gear just because elite gear was so easy to obtain and I only did that on one toon to unlock the feat.

I don't know if thats a good thing or not.

I would welcome this, but again its a prime opportunity for those of us that try hard to clock stuff faster. This might create a dip in players during an episode if they get through it quick and don't need to continue grinding. This also means spending less replays, which causes a loss in earnings too.

I'd be happy if it even converted to source marks, the same way the commendation boxes from SFF E contain either 650 renown or 5 source marks.

    Yes, that's the idea

Well... Wouldn't them grinding it out faster cause them to spend more replay badges? [IMG]

And... if there was an incentive to play after earning all the renown, wouldn't that help avoid a dip in players as they would continue grinding for the secondary reward? [IMG]

That's a fair point, but I would argue that there's already a pretty steep drop-off as players max out their renown and stop running elite content. Tolly's idea or something like it-- and there's been a few decent ideas tossed around-- would make me more likely to keep running elite.

I cant speak for others but I know once I'm done with renown I quit running the elite versions of instances unless I'm helping someone with a feat or something..

It would be beneficial to the game if there was some motivator to continuing to run an instance on a harder setting that takes a significant longer time sync had some benefit that lead people to continue running it after you have said renown

now what shape that motivator might take
be it source marks or prestige or whatever, I dont know but I agree it should be something

The whole issue with this is that it won’t actually do that. Players run content for SMs based on a marks per minute ratio. Elite typically takes longer so when farming marks this will have no impact on those who look for marks unless they do a high SM conversation ratio which they wont do. Look at the SFFe renown boxes. 650 renown or 5 SMs. Compare that to what you’d get in regular content of 100 or 200 tokens and that would be 1 SM for content that would generally take longer.

Look at USr that can be done on under 5 minutes for 10 marks (shorter if players are good). That’s 2 marks per minute typically. Players wouldn’t all of a sudden run USe for the extra renown to convert. They would need to have the conversion ratio be 10 marks total for the raid (10 from raid and 10 from all the renown put together) to even allow for this to even change how players run.

Let’s say they did do this. This would make it even harder for the less skilled to get into SM runs because players would only want to do these with good players to actually make it worth it.

If we're going to go with the source mark idea, it should be a pack that is similar to the idea of the Doceur Fate vendor pack, a loot that gives more than an 8 player raid instance and less than the pack sold by Doctor Fate, or delete the Doctor Fate vendor pack and include the pack that was sold by Doctor Fate in this idea, this will be obtained with X amount of renown.
The source brand is just an idea, but I think we need to promote a currency that "everyone" is interested in and that you need a lot of to unlock various things in the game.
  20. OneWhoLaughed Committed Player

Nope, as always, your mathematical comprehension is shocking; because of the extra currency from converting, less need to replay the content once you get everything and the way you get everything is the currency.
To put into perspective, we get 12 coins per elite raid? lets say you get 6 extra coins per raid (1 coin per 100 token) with overflow renown, that's a 50% jump, think about the replays saved if that was the conversion and you were looking to burn through it ASAP.

My main incentive is to revisit content for feats, and after i've clocked everything I don't reset feat runs.

The best way the devs have incentivized this in the past, IMO is the iconic styles, weapon styles and pets. Before omni rewards came into play, the collections were worth farming too (age of justice, riddled with crime, e3 etc), I reset the two age of justice alerts a lot even though that content was dated.
