When a studio no longer has the will to release a new powerset, what did we players do?

A powerset can appreciated and not very common. It may very well be the 2nd place healing power. I honestly don't know. If it is, it is a VERY distant 2nd place. All that work in developing water and it basically just went down the drain.

and say that he had to go out towards the exit of game x) and say that he had to go out towards the exit of game x)

The heal blue lantern would surely have much more success than water.

Considering I fall into the group the believe water severly fell short it wouldn't be hard to have more success than it.

The experience of releasing powersets that underperform their expectations has severly impacted the addition of new powersets for the game.

Rage could, I think, prove the opposite :) It was very successful, but then again, if you nerf paid powers to the point where they're potentially weaker than free powers, it's going to be hard to sell them :D

dcuo was not the first mmo for console. phantasy star online, final fantasy xi and everquest online adventures came before.

Successful enough that they continued to release new powers after what? 2017?

The fact that this game is even still alive completely surprises me.

No it was for PC to start, then was made available to console, which began free to play around that time as well up to level 30 where a membership was either required after level 30, or a DLC purchase. That move saturated the community with younger players as generally...younger players, at least then, played on the console. Not saying that all younger players played on the console, but I am saying that a larger portion do play on the console than that of PC.

Either way, that wasn't the point I was making. My point was that the younger players back then now have grown and aged out for the most part where game management hasn't made moves to recapture youth in the game to replace those who have aged out, which is what is needed to continue the cycle between new and veteran players still playing.

That's not true at all. DCUO was released for PC and PS3 at around the same time - January 2011, according to Wikipedia, although some other sources show a couple of months difference. But even Beta testing was done on both platforms.

DC Universe Online beta registration and pre-order now available | N4G

The game went free to play around 9 months after release.

Correct, which you needed a disc for. It wasn't available to PS Network and Plus players until several months after.

the game was developed specificaly to take advantage of the ps3 controller: https://www.denofgeek.com/games/dc-universe-online-interview/

it was released for ps3 and pc the same day. it went free to play later that year

the game is never going to appeal to a younger audience with all the micro transactions

    ???
Where did that come from???

There is a Disk version for PS3.
You can still buy it on Amazon for $5...

DCUO was launched on PC And PS3 Jan 11 2011.

It went down for about 1 month on PS3 because of the Sony hack when the entire PSN was down.

It was launched later on PS4... Xbox.... Switch..... PS5....
But at Launch it did Launch on both PC and PS3.

    ;) ;)

It wasn't until later in the year around December 2011 that DC was available for PS Network and PS Plus. Until then, it was disc exclusive from July to December. All that notwithstanding though isn't the point I was making to begin with in my earlier posts.

    ???
I got the game from the PSN store when the game went Free2Play.....
    it went Free2Play November 1 2011.

Pretty sure it was on PSN Before that......
I did just did not play it until it became Free2Play.

Again.... it Launched on PS3 January 11 2011..... not July.

Edit.... Even the EEViLLL Ai agrees... ;) ;)
DC Universe Online (DCUO) was not disk exclusive, as it launched on January 11, 2011, as a buy-to-play title for PlayStation 3 and PC but later transitioned to a free-to-play model in November 2011 and became available on other platforms,

Beta was available from December 14, 2010, until January 5, 2011. The registration for the beta started on 20 July 2010 so that users can choose which platform they want to beta test the game for. In August 2011, there was a global server merge implemented by the developers to consolidate all PC servers and PlayStation 3 servers into 4 individual servers, one for each platform per region. On September 19, 2011, it was announced that the game would go free to play on November 1, 2011.

The disc version and download version were different at the time and remained that way until well after 2012 according to GameFaq...making it disc exclusive.

So stop trying to create an argument to "moot" my original point.

    Thanks

Moot has nothing to do with it.

Saying that the game was disk exclusive just is not true.

Supply a link to GameFAQ because again.... even the EEViLLL Ai does not agree.....
