What's wrong with FVE?

I don't know about you, but doing FVE in Pick up is a disaster, it never passes Grodd, even after multiple attempts, I managed once or twice in the early days of the DLC, but since impossible to pass the raid.

I'm sure you'll say, "Do it in league", and I'd answer you, I'd like to, but the French leagues abandon the game and the little that is left active in league is not enough for an 8 raid experience...

I'd like to join an English league too, but my English is not good enough for that :(

if you cant past gorilla grodd, your group is doing something wrong. You see, one of your group member must turn off the mechanics of the room otherwise its get very overwhelming for your group, especially tank and healer.

Also your DPS should block when Gorilla Grodd charges the group, and ideally don't have most of the group too close to each other as Grodd does another attack with the charge.

Sometimes can depend on your heal.

Also if you get turned into gorilla you can do big damage to any add spawns, which relieves pressure from the tank (just don't kill the Gorilla Specialist as he is important)

I think that's what people forget to do 3/4 of the time in this raid.

The tp zone is a huge pain in the a.s, you can easily get killed by the 3 gorillas in it...

You can KO the gorillas with your abilities while in gorilla form. Don't worry, it took me a little while to notice this myself.

Pick up groups in almost any current elite raid are terrible on any server. Lfg groups are hit or miss. So to answer your question, there is nothing wrong with fve. There is a reason why any knowledgeable player doesn't blind que elites. It is not worth your time. Lfg, get familiar with whoever is usually online while you are. Build those friendships. Don't be afraid to answer a shout and do your best to impress and soon you'll be getting invites asking for your help instead of trying to do the near impossible and complete an elite with a pug group.

This by no means is me saying it is impossible to complete elites with pugs, it is just a rarity.

you can use the heal ability before going in and try to block one of the add attacks, then quickly use the mechanic button, thats what i do

Yes, I've noticed that too, but it's not always easy to do, especially when all three come at once...

I've also noticed that jumping also helps to stay alive a bit more easily, so I don't know if it's mental or if it's actually the case.

The problem of this zone of misfortune is when the 3 gorillas jump on you at the same time, as far as I'm concerned, it's often because of this that I die stupidly with this boss....

The translators help me with this :D

Or you can wait for the healer/troll to give you a shield before going up there.

Hit or miss? TBH, I only ever completed FVE with a lfg group once so far, to me it's just near impossible completing this raid outside of league runs.

IMO, as I mentioned yesterday in a thread about consumables, the best thing to do is either have Personal Dampening Fields in your utility belt or in one of the top left inventory slots to quickly swap it in and activate it just before going in to the portal. Do that and your worst case scenario becomes somehow accidentally hitting the wrong cog despite standing dead in front of the one you're trying to hit.

Okay but how do you turn off the mechanics?
  14. LeagueOfV Dedicated Player

After you are transformed to a gorilla form, you use one of the teleporters (light blue glowing circles on the ground) to go to the command center where 3 gorillas are waiting to kill you. As others mentioned above, you can use your tray abilities as a gorilla to damage/kill them or heal yourself. You can also coordinate with the troll or healer to get a shield or use a PDF as Illumin suggested.
When in the command center you pick a cog to disable one of the mechanics. Usually best to turn off the big blue AOE circles on the ground, the bombs, or kill adds. It's usually best to do the first 2, because as someone above also mentioned you can kill the adds too when in gorilla form by using your tray abilities to do lots of damage to them.
It would be great if someone has a screenshot of what the cogs look like. I think the adds one is like a globe or share? The circles is sort of like a platform from the side? And the bombs look like a unique non symmetrical shape. Not sure how to describe it well.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. I also looked up a video of the raid. I honestly had no idea that turning into a gorilla served a purpose. I would always cancel the transformation right away because i thought it was detrimental to performance. I learned something today.

In the absence of screenshots, one helpful tip is that the cog that turns off the big blue AOE circles will always be the one directly in front of you if you use the teleporter closest to where you entered the fight area. Since that's pretty much the cog I'm hitting 80%-90% of the time. I pretty much always go to that teleporter even if I'm much closer to the other.

Another thing, getting rid of the bombs is kind of optional and just a little added convenience for the groups mobility EXCEPT when they start counting down. Once they start the countdown, they should take first priority.

How helpful killing or teleporting the adds out will depend on how well your tank is handling them. My tank toon is Atomic so I can pretty much ThermoChem juggle those knuckle draggers all day long though the grenadiers that spawn in the corners can be a bit of a nuisance.
