What's going on with base items in seasonal events (and beyond)?

Are we likely to get base decorations back in seasonal events?

Homecoming last year had nothing (not even a price reduction on the existing items!) - you could have repurposed the existing carnival stands with some of the newer doll accessories. Or given us 'plushies' of the doll accessories!

Halloween (historically a large base item drop) had 4 items - even with the massive number of potential pieces from the JLDC DLC. The creepy wall branches were excellent and much requested.

Xmas had some ice statues - but there aren't "regular" versions that would have more use to casual base decorators. The new trees are handy, and I've used them in base builds.

Anniversary had just a few items, which looked like they should have been in the Harley vs Apokolips DLC.

    Valentine's has nothing.

St Patrick's Day is coming. Then Spring. What are we getting for those?

There is an extensive thread of suggestions of pieces that the community would like to see. Recolours or texture changes you could make to existing items that would give us useful items.

In the Brainiac Returns DLC, there were so many cool items placed around in the HOJ for both heroes and villains - especially the iconic displays that I know a lot of players would respond to - I was really hoping we'd see some in the Anniversary event.

In the Harley vs Apokolips DLC, the New Genesis map was completely unrepresented in the base item drop - the stacks of chests, the ceiling lamps, wall decorations would all be very useful to us. Similarly things like the wall vines (originally in Wonderverse) we see in the Clocktower as floor and ceiling decor would be good options for the Spring seasonal. Versions of the existing ones with different coloured flowers, or no flowers, would also be super.

In Day of Reckoning, you've created all these great spots on the open world map - the castle, the village buildings - fascias of these things would be incredible for base decorators (similar to what we've had with the Gingerbread houses before, so we can build our own houses or streets?). Castle turrets, walls, etc would also be great. I hope you can include some in St Patrick's Day.

And then in the DoR solo - the walls with creepy eyes, runes, the 'regular' doors, ceiling cages and chains would all be brilliant. The grate floor windows that look down to see the demon heads. The demonic relics, crucified bodies, strung up skeletons - these all have big potential for Halloween, alongside some of the artifacts we interact with, runes etc. There is SO much we would love to have. Even things like the guitar, skateboard, soccer ball... small things yes, but they would go a way to helping us flesh out our bases.

If you're looking to increase in-game time, then putting in more of these items in seasonals is a great way to get people to run them on multiple characters, and energise them into building more bases.

I completely agree! I look forward to newer base items every seasonal and to think valentines is my favorite and not one base item is extremely disappointing and a huge setback for players. I’d assume they don’t have a content designer, at this point. :(

I'd like to echo what op & Jae are saying. Some players play mainly to decorate, because this is what they enjoy. So they grind the seasonal everyday to get the items they need, which helps with queues too. It feels wrong to me that there are no base items. Variants in my eyes are fine too, and the base items requests thread in Developer Discussion has many great ideas to take from. Many in-game items that can be turned into base items aswell.

Not sure if the devs want to try implant the base items crafting into seasonals, but please don't. Seasonals are time limited while DLC's aren't, so that would've make it very hard and frustrating.

The styles are nice, but 3 vendor items total for a big seasonal like Valentine's just feels wrong to me.

Half the reason I play the game is for the decorating. I think I must have 14 bases going not including also decorating my league hall. So new base items are absolutely what I look for in game over new styles, material, auras etc. The new DLC has a lot of pretty portals, purple glowing pots, that floating book on fire would be a dream.

We are not asking for extra time to be spent on making assets for the game just please continue to release at least existing base items for every seasonal and DLC.

a big misstep from the devs imo, it's like they dont actually know their own player base at this point.

on one hand, would i have ever imagined that dcuo would have a faithful base decorating player base? no way, never coulda predicted that.

nevertheless, there are and they do, and so these changes to crafting base items and no base items in seasonals i dont think is the best approach for this part of the player base.

Sadly..... we have been getting less and less rewards as time goes by. :(

The Anniversary vendor was the best example of this.

If you checked 2021.... there was a Lots of rewards.... we had the Flash Reverse Flash new styles... and More!!!

Sadly after that we started getting a reskinned style.... Faith Faith..... Lexcorp..... and then not even a full style..... a few Wonder Twins pieces.... and then this year 2 half masks an a T-Shirt. :(

And the same for the base items.
We have been getting less and less base items with the various events... to the point where we get 0 Base items sometimes. :(

We were hoping against hope that it would change with the New Devs.
That we would get back to getting more content.
But sadly...... does not seems likely from what we saw so far in 2025.

Hopefully the Devs will manage to get back on track during 2025??
Not much we can do but wait and see. :(

Why make 10 base items at 10 each when you can make 1 emote no one wants or will use past a week or so, at 100 each?

What's that you say? Because the players would want it? Why start working off that requirement now?

    +1.

Just want to also voice my concern for the lack of Base Items. There are several ways to play this game and one is base decorating which is the reason some users solely play.

Up through Summer of 2024 we had not only a plethora of seasonal base items, but they were all fantastic. The best in years even! We also had the Sunstone drops, both the Base Theme and the extra items on Cheetah, that were wonderful! Then everything fell off around Homecoming 2024... drastically.

While we've been through our share of DLC droughts, furniture in seasonal content was always a staple since it's inception. Even if storylines and gameplay were lackluster, seasonals kept a good chunk of the deco community coming back month after month for new and awesome items to create with. Now, with another event also having zero furniture AND a lovely open world ripe with new assets only yielding 6 drops and 5 craftables, the month after month return- that want to get furniture and create- is slowly fading.

We need new items to be inspired to build bases. We'll take recolors, reskins, size changes/variants, even object that might be over looked like scaffolding/pillars/beam, architectural things; any item is good. Just... please don't make this furniture absence/sparseness the new norm for seasonal rotations.
