    I keep playing because
    • I love superheroes and combic books. I especially love creating my own characters and this is the only game that scratches that particular itch with me.
    • The block/block break/interrupt combat mechanics of DCUO never get tired for me.
    • I think the new content that's come out is really, really good.

haven't really put time into a serious multiplayer game. You hear the usual cases of "world of warcrack" where people sink so much time into an mmo. I guess I was curious and tried this game about a year ago. What drove me to try one was simply just helping out people who would be slogging through a situation. As I played more the mentality sort of evolved into "I remember having problems with this mission/on duty/overworld situation, and I want to help people have a slightly less crappy time." It doesn't really matter to me if the person is random or not. Sometimes people are grateful, sometimes they are not. I get caught up in all of the other reasonings mentioned (customization/base decoration/social). Not sure If I'll be able to keep up that attitude for another 5+ years. I suppose the challenge to remain optimistic for the sake of being better suited to assist is what drives me to play. Which I suppose is also the mentality of those wanting to help leaugemates/friends.

This probably doesn't hold as much water as those who've spent more than 1 year playing, but it really just comes down to how you weigh time spent on your own vs. time helping others(if we want to look at this as a socially focused type of gaming experience). Are the friends/connections/leaugemates worth staying around for? Of course understanding that your friends/leaugemates shouldn't be tieing you into playing a game that you don't enjoy.

If this situation is solely for single player content, then I can't really add much else onto what other people have already mentioned. You make your own experiences. Asking us a question like "why should I play?" when you've put enough time into the game to answer the question yourself. I understand the question was to gauge the responses of others, but the initial post seems to be also asking the question, "Why are you playing a game that I offhandedly express to be a slog/troubling/flawed experience."

The best answer I can give to that is "not everyone views the same experience in the same parameters, and not everyone finds ____ amount of work put into any hobby to require excessive amounts of motivation." Though it doesn't hurt to inquire about it for the sake of analyzing your own reasoning.

At this point, I'm going on a huge tangent and I'll just leave this post as is.

Quite honestly its the company of the friends I have made in this game over the years and not being able to let go of the grind it took to get me to where I am.

Worked so hard, for so long and went through so much to get here and while I may no loner enjoy it like I once did, its hard to just end something you worked so hard for.

    Regards,

Pfft you should be on the forums because you love us and it can be amusing.

All I can say is "yeeeaa" for the slow season at your work.

I like the gameplay, but not enough tomolay anymore. The devs and the pay to win direction with tcs are the worst.

I like the combat. I enjoy raids. And I especially enjoy running content with my league. Though, I should say, the garbage anniversary raid really bothered me. There was absolutely nothing enjoyable about it. And it wasn't difficult, so you got no sense of satisfaction for beating it. It was poorly conceived and executed. Arguably the worst content the devs have produced. Which is saying something, because they have produced a lot of bad content lol.

i love being a superhero. however, after hop2, the cr advancement system sucks ***. the content requires gear way above the minimum and there's no other way to get the gear unless you play the lower tiers and grind out a suit or get carried which even though its not terribly difficult in a duo or 4-man, fewer and fewer seem inclined to do it. i ground out mark suits for tiers 1-4 with my main years ago and i dont care enough to do it again. plus none of the devs know wth theyre doing. cr differential or stats? wm or am? power regen or trolls? 5-1-1-1 or 2-2-2-2? who knows? who cares? i took a break for about a year because people in the top tier dont work with you if you're not an "enthusiast" like them (translate, 250+ sp) and it looks like i'll be taking another break until the stats revamp rescues (or kills) this game
