    INERTIA!

I never invested so much time in anything, not even in my two marriages :p So, I just keep coming back... but the game is not good anymore.

AND, sure, I loved comics all my life (I am old), and seeing an obscure DC character from time to time is COOL :D

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Retired with time on my hands. Bored with surfing for...that other kind of content that no one actually admits to looking at.

I've noticed when playing single player games I greatly miss the social interaction. So I'd say it's the friends I've made.

All of this, especially that, plus i'm a console player, and NOTHING else in the market offers any of this all together in one package...yet (and nothing on the horizon...SE/Marvel rumours notwithstanding).

Every time I start to feel that little bit of burnout, I find something else to do, like style hunt for my alts, or in this particular case, boost a Hardlight mule to cr100. I took that gear and made him full troll since i've always loved hardlight but sucked tremendously with combos. Funny enough, I started to learn how to do simple combos as a troll. Then a leaguemate told me a few things, next thing I know i'm doing more complex combos. I reach cr166 and start doing AF3 content and build up my DPS gear, and then my leaguemate teaches me infinite combos. I even hit Athena for 123 hits in Olympus (we had a dope tank). 5 years playing, couldn't do a combo to save my life. Now i'm no Combo King, but i'm a decent Hardlight DPS (decent, not good). That gives me great hope that i'll be able to learn Celestial and Atomic someday soon.

It's the little things like this, the friends i've made that keep me motivated to play on. It's way too easy to give in to the creeping cynicism and the FUD that gets spread around here. I do my best to tune the negative out. I still have some hope that it's not over anytime soon, no matter how much the doomsday preachers yell it out (six years, and they haven't been right yet).

Mostly just screwing around. I spend half my time doing nonsense so it prolongs my run to higher levels.

Plus I put more effort into making my bases look awesome than I do leveling so there's that too.

I gotta say this^ Cause the fun factor is still there but its gotten much much smaller over my time playing dcuo. Ive already made the decision to start being a casual player once my sub ends in a few weeks. I will log on for seasonals and maybe sub in the future if there is a dlc i like. Major change from the player i have been. Ive always been a min/max guy. But the recent changes and direction of the game overall have pushed me away. The community hasnt helped either. The rush rush i want everything handed to me attitude or the i want to buy everything for real money players has only gotten worse in my eyes.

I guess im old school because i enjoy playing a game. Playing its content and earning rewards by achieving something. I seem to be going the way of the doe doe bird. That was my motivation before and still is. But ive realized me and my friends can have just as much fun playing any game.

Both of these^ too. But ive come to realize whether i quit dcuo or stay the money i spent has already been spent and nothing i can do about it. Cant change it. The whole putting in time to master another game and maybe have to meet some new people is what i dont care for. Im not against meeting new people. But i enjoy the company of my league mates on dcuo. Those are the people i want to game with. If we all went to a different game together then having to learn a new game from scratch wont be so bad imo.

The challenges still present in some in-game content, feat-hunting, helping others, running content with others, DC Lore.

Star Wars Galaxies survived another 1.5 years after players realized the same back then in their forums. SWG was also a game by SOE and closed before the Daybreak times. With Daybreak and thus, Columbus Nova involved, DCUO may actually die faster ;)

You should work on that. Give more things a try :D

Gratz on the 27 days of no drinking. However, exchanging one addiction for another may not be the best approach. Good luck on finding a better cure/therapy to deal with your addictive personality one day!

When all is said and done its about my characters. All of them have been with me a long time, some going as far back as the late seventies and early eighties. Even as far back as when the game was first announced in 2005 I knew exactly who my main character would be, who my primary alt would be and who the rest of my team would be and how they rank up. Its like having my own personal comic book in the dcuo with its accompanying cartoon series. Can't beat that.
