What motivates you to continue playing?

I create themed characters (Marvel, cartoon, other games) so I enjoy being able to create the most authentic looking adaptations I can in DCUO. At the moment DCUO is the only game that allows me to play as some of these characters so it does help a little bit.

As far as the game itself, I'm not sure there is one thing that I'm like "Oh hell yeah can't wait to do this right now!!"

If they added some more sandbox type activities, more fighting styles/options, customization options, things would be super swell

I felt bad at one point just thinking about how dedicated I was to this game. I didn't have any issues shoving money into this game. I do have other things I enjoy luckily so it isn't end all be all. I think the forums are more fun than the game nowadays- definitely can pass the time at work

Now see it's funny you mention this, because posts like yours are why I dislike threads like this.

I mean after all if a post is "bothering" you, why on earth can't one just ignore it instead of going in guns blazing and declaring their dislike.

The three things this game got really right (in my opinion) that other games (I have tried) don't have:

1) The active, fully player controlled fighting mechanics
2) Character style customization (swap colors easily and mix and match any item style you have ever equipped)
3) The unlimited movement mode (run, jump, or fly across a whole city w/o "getting tired/slowing down")

other than that, it's mostly my friends & league mates (when they are on) and simple habit

What motivates me to keep playing is the insane amount of money that I have left on my PSN lol mainly because of the death of PsHome R.I.P and also the fact that I love being creative and the customizations "Thanks for adding the fourth color" through all of it's flaws it's still a fun game.

Running a league. If I wasn't running one, I would have quit like I almost did in November.

Fatal you're never supposed to give out your weaknesses, I mean I know you're a villain and all but you should learn from Superman... everyone uses Kryptonite on him because they know it will work.

I think theres a few superman from alternate universes who would disagree about being afraid to kill.

well i gave up on the game when the break started. and i was not gonna come back. only reason I came back was for the Fallen God gear style. after 6 years i finally saw a superman style andi had to complete it. and since i have complected it. i have lost all will to play.

While the hatred of these threads is a bit extreme, I think they point was that if you are not enjoying something, take a break and do something else. That worked for him as he did just that and came back later and enjoyed the game again.

Now wouldn't the point have come across so much clearer had they not mentioned the fact that they dislike threads like this.... I mean stating that alone is like ruining your message before it comes to past... because very few people are going to pay attention at that point.

That is true. But while he may have jumped the gun at the start, he did spend the rest of his post on a reasonable response to a thread like this. And because of that, I assumed his point was about that and not his initial reaction.

In all honesty? The fact that I have yet to find anything I'd enjoy playing instead of this. The first MMO I ever played with City of Heroes and when that closed down I tried Champions Online (by Cryptic .. same folks that originally designed COH) but was not impressed. The Marvel games I tried only allowed me to BE a Marvel character I couldn't design my own which I happen to enjoy. So I landed here.

The game lost a lot of its appeal, along with a ton of players, after GU47 and if anyone wants to ARGUE that point just look at what we've seen happen since. At one point "suddenly" every tiny little thing players had been begging for here on the forums for years showed up magically in game.. Now if that was not a blatant cry of "We are so sorry.. please don't leave us. Here take this new haircut(or insert which ever piece of tiny stuff they manufactured during THAT phase)"

NOW? The big push is to find any and every single means to milk as much cash as possible out of everyone left. Between time capsules, buying holiday cash from the market place, the instant upgrade to level 25 (which I am guessing was designed to promote more ALTS) and now even the instant free upgrade to CR 100 along with the current Open Seasons for Premiums and Free to Plays. It doesn't take a genius to see it is all designed to get more and more cash out of players.. because the days of more and more players just showing up and WANTING to play are gone.

So basically the only thing motivating me to stay is the lack of anything I have found yet to make me want to leave.

Pretty much the same for me. Doubly so since I game on my PS4.
