So we’re very clear on what we don’t like about this DLC, there’s a million threads for that. Let’s use this one to share what we do like and inject a bit of positivity into the latest content. For me: New open world looks pretty cool, could use some tweaks but overall nice to look at Daily missions award counts of 10 for interacting with items, super useful for my troll/tank-only alts that suck at killing adds Granny Goodness boss mechanics are fresh and interesting, looking forward to elite + for this one I cackle every time Harley says “you big stawmpy baby” and “you’re so much bigger and more bardary than me” The OP item doesn’t have a mod socket so no DPS vs Support mod switching ^^ I wanna wake up to a list of things you like about the new content for some daily grind motivation!
I don't know my experience with this DLC is pretty limited, I've only been on the marketplace and the episode gear vendor, I was then done with the DLC, it seemed to work okay though... Haha, jokes, too soon? okay I'll let myself out.
There's nothing to like about this new DLC. Maybe the only reedeming thing is the raid but it's nothing fresh or special. Very simple mechanics.
In short, a collection of interesting pieces put together in an off-putting way with a side dish of mp crap. I really like the new open world; I hate having to zoom all over just to find the missions. I like the idea of the convoy mission; I hate having to wait and do it multiple times to finish it. The instances are pretty and so far aren't super laggy; why are there zero feats for the solo?
Episode 48 is fine, it was just the execution that was a let down. It's an Ok episode that could have been a Good one. The elements were there for the Solo and Raid. Open world is a step up from the copy and paste Washington DC we are so used to previously. The alert is a change of pace where its not a 20-30min daily affair. I don't know how much impact Elite Plus will have given this episodes content. I personally would hope for Save the Universe a) still coming in Q4 and b) selecting interesting content choices.
For me what I really like about the episode is the fact that the skill tree clamp literally fell right off with the 15 cap lift. That 15 cap lift literally feels like the clamp fall off per point which is in a positive way making gear feel a lot better in this episode progression actually feels like you're getting stronger. It's crazy how it took this long for the clamp to fall off per point everybody knows the clamp was only to slow us down and I think episode 48 is the end of the clamp. Most of the op players are really noticing it in this episode however I do think it's going to take a little bit more for less experienced players ep 50 to feel anything. Op players will more than likely be one shotting regular content by episode 50 once again. So yes ep 48 is a very positive episode in the name of progression in the name of stats are starting to matter now
Some nice new maps was a good thing.... That's about it, but I pretty much hate any Harley content and New Gods isn't far behind . So this DLC was prepped to fail for me regardless of any other 'bad' decisions that were made. But hey....as a former Chicago Bears fan, I've gotten good at hoping for the 'next' season...or DLC in this case.
Fourth World focused. Like any ep dealing with Darkseid and the New Gods. Open World is beautiful. We got a solo instead of duo. The alert doesn't take longer than the raid. Dailies go faster because it's not just one kill, one point for missions - you have all the things to interact with.
CR Skip, because that is all i have done with the game so far which is funny, because i was going to skip this dlc, but i logged in and still skipped, but on an alt fun little play on words.
Open world map is nice. Always love solos. Alert and Raid ok. Overall, I would give it a 4.9/10 compared to what we have been getting. I am hoping this is just the starting point of new changes coming in future DLCs. I am sure everyone has varied opinions on what the Devs would need to do to create a 10/10 DLC. I want to dream that the 10/10 DLC will actually happen. Peace and DCUO Forever
Only thing I like about it is it's something to do. I love the grind and chasing feats. Other than that not really interested
Open world map design is OK, just takes some getting used to, we are used to open worlds being very formulaic in how missions are dealt with and where the mission givers are. Art wise unless you look closely you may not notice it is Flashpoint Gotham again, there are plenty of open worlds and instances with 'Gotham' in them that don't necessarily look like the same map. The solo is alright, not a fan of the puzzle personally and the fact augments are designed to make it go quicker. Instance wise it looks nice, they made good use of reusing the assets from the Energy Conversion Chamber instance in the final part of New Genesis Now raid. Only the second time we have seen reused assets like this (compared with the majority of Brainiac instances/hallways etc.) Raid could have been better, especially given there's only one raid. The skybox and art design is pretty good by recent episode standards, probably the best looking raid visually since Source Wall. Would have liked to have seen at least one extra boss at the start before Granny Goodness. Generally the high point for me with this episode is that it looks better than the last few episodes visually. There's just further room for improvement that's all.
I like the episode theme. It’s a BOP sequel. I see a lot of others seem to not like or enjoy Harley and the BOP content. I’m here for it.
Honestly this episode has its ups and downs for me, I love the scenery the graphics look great. Absolutely hate the voice acting she doesn’t sound like Harley at all whatsoever. Open world graphics are gorgeous , amazing artwork/ rework. I love how I can see my own characters shadow, the daily missions on the other hand were difficult to find and more of a waste of time when grabbing and returning for completion, one of the mission with the convoy was misleading other players were ruining the mission when destroying the convoy early on. The solo was challenging I loved how the adds had there own dialogue other then grunts and when you had to chase lashina down the hallway that was engaging fun and different for dc universe online. The puzzle was more of an annoyance and waste of time sadly, great idea wrong placement. The alert rework was gorgeously done, super fun and playful the mechanics were very doable and fun felt like I was actually immersed The raid for me (elite) was very fun I enjoyed the artwork and scenery the final fight with Darkseid and the music was super epic and fun elite was very keep you on your toes and engaging and brought a different feel to dc universe online. The base items were kinda sad they’re just edited current base items we have. Overall this episode was good for me the only sad thing was the currency being available this episode for purchase. It completely ruins the hard work and dedication for this episode and a big smack in the face for longtime players of dc universe online, it turns the game into a pay to win game officially.
The open world's art direction is clearly in the right place (minus the overwhelming green fog). The environmental damage is pretty funny, too bad we don't have a mission where we throw enemies in the lava pits though. Speaking of missions... kinda not a fan of their givers being scattered around, this sorts of makes every player use the same route to get them done, whereas previously everyone made their own route (even if eventually they ended up sticking to one route they'd do every day). This also makes it so we only do 1 mission at a time, so whenever we are at an overlapping zone between which mission enemy NPCs spawn we cannot take advantage of just doing 2 missions right there (also thanks to having to return to the mission givers to complete it). I like the elite alert, specially when tanking it. Having to juggle Stompa and Mad Harriet's counters is overall pretty fun. I love it when counters matter. I've never been a fan of when enemies who clearly uses "weapon" attacks (this includes the various hand to hand movesets too) have immunity to the system *cough* *cough* Darkseid and Zeus, for example. The raid is... hmm... it is pretty, but I personally am not much of a fan of it. I don't like tanking fights where I have to hold the main baddie alongside multiple adds, and when in dps, I do not like fights where I have to stick to AoE damage, unless I'm with my celestial character, but otherwise, ugh, it's just not for me. Granny fight is an ugh, but Darkseid's fight mechanics have stuff that makes it entertaining despite the AoE dps bias in elite (though it is not fun as a tank, thanks to Dorkseid ignoring counters).
There a a few places where all 3 missions are within a small area, and I feel it's still worth grabbing all 3, then doing the route back to cash in. My usual method is to grab all 3 so Nightwing is the active one, then when all 3 are done, I cash his and warp rally to cash out Harley. The annoyance really kicks in when I have to head to Barda for the 3rd cash in. If they made them auto cash out, or cash out to a 'green' entry in the journal I think a lot of the annoyance would go away. The only problem with auto cashing them would be that it would impact those who pre-do the missions on a reset night, where 2x marks is the next day...however seeing as they probably won't do 2x, to sell more currency, often...maybe that's not a factor.
