If it's a number I don't have on my cell, I don't answer it. Home phone, I still usually don't answer it, but if I do I just say "no thanks" and hang up. I don't know how people can waste yours and their time.

    E.

I don't pick up when it's an anonymous call. Unless, I'm expecting one.

And even when I'm expecting calls from a phone number not on my phone book, I still don't answer right away. I pull up Callercenter.com on my mobile phone and look up the phone number first t find out who owns it and where it is located. That way, I somehow have an idea if it's the call I'm expecting.

G - I'm on the DO-NOT-CALL list. If a telemarketer calls, they are breaking the law and/or a scammer. Yes, I have had confirmations of the scammer part at least - up to and including those posing as government officials.

E - I still get telemarketing calls from supposedly-legitimate sources because they are working for/with a non-profit or political organization. There are far too many scams going on these days for anyone to give personal information from someone calling up out of the blue. If they do so, they are taking a serious risk. Even if this organization wants to send me something through the mail versus asking me for my credit card number over the phone, they are still asking for personally identifiable information and validating my address for their own reasons and records.

Play it safe - do not give out personal information over the phone over (or in a game for that matter) when someone calls you and asks for it.

Don't feel bad about making reports to at the DO NOT CALL website. You could be helping stop others from being scammed.

my office policy is to have the phone given to a woman when they ask for a man's name & give the phone to a man if they ask for a woman's name. After listening to a few seconds of a confused person's pitch, we hang up.... and laugh.

As far as I've known, there isn't a universal "do not call" list. There's a do not call list per business, yes. And lawfully, when you ask to be put on it, that business can't call you again. But I have yet to have run into a, IDK, "federal do not call" list.

If I'm not interested in their offer I respectfully decline and wish them well. I know someone who used to work in that field...sufficed to say that many of his days were ruined by individuals who resorted to yelling/swearing/berating them. Yes, they're telemarketers, and yes they offer things that many of us do not need, but they are still human beings. Be kind and treat them with respect that they deserve.:)

There is a national Do NOT CALL list in America. I'm not sure which country you are in.

    https://www.donotcall.gov
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

It has been illegal for some time to make calls to people that have registered their number on the DO NOT CALL list.

Ha, well in that case. If someone is on that list, my company has ignored it. If anyone want's to burn the building down, you'll be doing me a favor.

I listen intently to everything they have to say and then give them any information that they request.

I also always help the people who email me to help them get money out of foreign countries.

    Should I not do this?

It will be more like the FCC comin' aknockin'.

Good luck out there. The job market is still in the dumps. I can only hope it will get better some day soon.
Until then, be glad that you have what you have. It is better than nothing.
