Well, the way I look at any emotion-based powers is this:

No character except the original green lantern has ever went by an actual superhero moniker, and even he eventually came to be known as simply "Alan Scott". I would say if you are looking for something that falls more in line with the canon of the emotional spectrum, make a character that simply has a name.

Had a Necromancer who specialized in blood magic back in Guild Wars 1 named Tahm Pahn.
When people gave me a hard time about the name saying it was offensive, I would reply that it's my I was asian, it was my real name, and that they were being racist, sexist, and offensive. Then I reported them. It was like a whole different pvp game mode.
