Weapon Mastery Nerf...why?

    im sorry my SP isnt up to YOUR standards, but they attached the SP system to a feat system, some players like achievements some dont, i dont care for the achievement system but my SP is non of your issue if im doing my role fine dont look a gift horse in the mouth

    I disagree. The game has plenty of direction, but it does not have enough momentum. The idea of weapon mastery is a good one supplemented with the idea of power mechanics to give players an option to do equal damage to weapon mastery by using their powers more. The problem is that we got weapon mastery first, and the power mechanics are taking a long time to develop and release to keep up.

    I think it was a mistake to release weapon mastery before getting all power mechanics for all powers finished. I like both ideas, but the execution of those ideas is faltering and frustrating a large portion of our community (based on the threads, anyway; not sure what the true numbers are game wide).

    better mod straight expert precis on everything and WM spam works soooooooooo much better right? because PVP didnt turn into a WM combo spamoff and that 3 shot even t4 pvp geared players, and in PVE the backup troll is about to get benched, powers arnt even valued anymore outside of DoTs and clipping reasons

    Actually, if you're paid attention to how the game was originally developed, they initially tried to balance weapon and power damage in the game. With the idea of Power Mechanics for each power set and the ability to receive power back for executing those mechanics in a skilled manner, it would appear they are still trying to provide players with the equal option of weapons vs. powers. Your response is a bit short sighted and shows a lack of understanding of the developers' current plans.

    I mod straight Vit and Prec on my 92 gear and haven't looked back since.

    PVP matches are going quicker, although that may change when T6 PVP is released.
    I still see 2 trolls in raids and even three in A&B.
    I don't see trolls being benched.

    I'm having fun with the game, I shouldn't be too focused with the Devs current plans nor nitpick everything thats implemented with every game update.

    It's not nitpicking if it truly is detracting from players' ability to enjoy the game. You're having fun, but not everyone is with weapon mastery being the only option. Many of the players who are unhappy have a very good reason to be unhappy: their superpowers are no longer useful in a game that is based on characters who have superpowers. I can definitely understand why that would be a problem. Can you?

    To be fair, I believe that the PMs were actually a response to both WM and the gaffe by Larry Liberty about Rage, HL, and Celestial being intended to hold an advantage due to their advanced mechanics. The WM WiP thread went up 2/24/14. The WiP balancing thread that introduced the flow chart and the plan for PMs for all powersets went up 3/31/14. Jens specifically stated in the opening of that thread that: "After reviewing feedback, there are several things I would like to clarify and there are several changes we are making in response. This is what we intend going forward." That's why WM came first. Sure, they could have waited to release WM until they completed the PMs for all the powersets, but the cat was out of the bag at that point. To delay it's release would have caused significant backlash. I think that was also why WM was put in a GU, instead of a DLC. They needed to provide and "awesome" level mechanic to everyone in order to appease the masses while they worked on the individual PMs. Of course, the problem is that they made WM better than any of the PMs. Either it will continue to be THE way to DPS or they will come to their senses and balance it. Regardless, there will be unrest. Folks like me will continue to push for balance, and if they do balance WM, folks who have enjoyed the easy pew, pew damage will cry nerf. Can't win for losing.

    DPS spamming MW attacks less power used, Healer using WM less power used up, Troll using MW less power used to PoT or instant power and once its players start seeing this they will squeeze out the second troll for yet another dps. If the game keeps this up you can mark my words

    If that's the case, I am disappointed that they didn't discover the imbalance of weapon mastery's precision attacks internally and foresee the reaction from members of the community. As I said in my previous post, this game is predicated on DC Universe lore, which means players have superpowers to attack enemies. Some of the DC Universe lore characters rely heavily on their powers to be able to survive and defeat enemies; to remove that option is going to create backlash from the players who created their characters with that in mind.

    It's too late for this suggestion and probably not the right place to post it, but I had this feeling WM should have had a CR requirement or minimum SP much higher than the minimum needed to unlock it. This would prevent inexperienced players and content skippers from screwing up their stats or failing to learn their power sets properly by using WM instead. I mean substantially more than the 67 (?) skill points needed for both WM move sets. It doesn't have to be 99 or 100 CR (or SP for that matter)...even CR 53 or 70 would have been better than it simply being unlockable as soon as you have 44 or so SP. Seems to me WM is intended mostly (if not only) for top tier endgame content (as we learned in the new alert), and not the new or casual player. Too little, too late, I know...just thinking out loud...comments?

    I think that was also due to how the concept evolved. Recall that they changed how WM worked after finding that single weapon mastery (just the initial weapon combos, rather than the cross weapon combos) was buggy with the implementation of progress bars to regularly utilized combos.
    The original concept was that if you clipped a single mastery combo too early, you would lose the second tick of damage. If you clipped a dual mastery combo too early, you would lose all the damage. Problem is that the single mastery combos were also losing all the damage, if you clipped too early. That prompted the following:
    As a result, single weapon mastery combos were still buffed, but with a single tick, rather than 2. Also, dual mastery combos were buffed even more. This is what I suspect made the damage truly ridiculous. It was already high, so I'm not sure why they even buffed the dual mastery combos. They should have just combined the ticks from the single mastery combos and left the dual mastery combos alone. I suspect they still wouldn't be balanced, but that change sure didn't help.

    Dps damage compared to what? T5? Guess the equip/weapon don't mean a thing. !st y'all complain that support roles don't do enough damage, now you complain it's to much?

    i can solo gothem wasteland raven by spamming the same WM combo and using the clip to half my power usage... and its enough to handle her mini-mes and all 5 of the titans and still be able to kill her on a single power bar. Something i shouldnt be able to do on a 1 trick pony.

    I was able to solo raven as healer spamming staff melee combos before wm. In the t5 alert before wm I was able to dps almost 20-1 dps to power ratio. Don't understand why players call for nerfs just because they don't like it

    I'm not reading 17 pages unless it's the title starts "Harry Potter and the"...so apologies if somebody said this but hmmm.....a 15k crit at the moment does seem a bit much. However, if they can nerf anything, everything, and their grandmothers goldfish, how come Safehouse has been out for so long?

    its not about liking it, its about balance
