We Desperately Need a Server Chat Channel

I have been attempting to use the Trade channel to buy a Stalwart Defender's Chest style. Unfortunately, I had to give it up because it is being used as a global chat channel instead. Nothing but silliness going on with that channel, which makes using it for what it was intended for...next to impossible.

So, I understand all too well that you can't get idiots to stop using it as a regular chat channel...that would be futile. Maybe we could persuade them to use a different channel if there was an actual global channel instead?

    Just an idea.

P.S. Yes, I do say idiots very firmly. Have you seen some of the idiotic things they say in there? lol

Why not exercise the ignore function? You have 256 slots available.
  3. WilderMidnight Steadfast Player

    use the broker.

Seriously? The number of people you can ignore is limited to 256?
If so, I'm probably pretty close to that.

Which server are you on? Because on EUPC, trade channel doesn't work. Tried to write something there, sent it, didn't appear. Tried a couple of times, and trade channel never showed what I wrote.

Communication is 2 way, so it isn't he (OP) who has to ignore these flooders, it is the recipient.

I wondered when my ignore list would cap out. Thanks.

Oh right, legit solution, instead of resolving the issue by giving the community a "server wide" channel they can spam on and clear up trade chat, let's just ignore everyone. gg

+1. One of the better ideas I've seen on the forums lately.

This sounds like a Settings issue. I know on PS lfg & trade are turned off by default, not sure if PC has always been the same or maybe changed with the server merge

    oh, that was it.
    thanks.
but...is the bug fixed that reset all your chat settings upon login? does that mean the profanity filter auto-on is also fixed?

EDIT: btw: on PC, LFG was turned off per standard, but trade was active per standard. That's why I didn't even check.

Ridiculous. They will just spam the new channel, trade and shout and randomly LFG instead of spamming trade, shout and randomly LFG. Another platform for those socially dysfunctional imitations of human life; wasted manpower.

May not be a bad idea, even though some of those "idiots" would still be in trade at least their number would be somewhat reduced.

Profanity filter I dunno about, sorry, mine has always been on by default I think, not that it really helps filter anything.

Maybe they disabled trade as standard for PC following the merger because of the nonsense spouted on it. Which if so suggests they know of the issues the OP alluded to.

I like trade chat the way it is.

Terrible idea. It wouldn't help at all, since it requires two to trade. His posts would easily fly by and people who could actually want what he sells would miss it anyways.

Trade chat needs to be used to trade, not to chat.

a "World" chat would be great, then once the new channel is added, DBG should actually "enforce" and penalize those who "spam" any chat channel.

We have so much spam in chat that the Monty Python actors are crying foul and want royalties because the spam skit ran out of spam for Their customers.

It's been working great so far. That prevents me from pouring gasoline into the fires.

Trade chat was normal until late January of this year.

    Solution:

Limit Trade messages to once every 10 seconds per person.

That would slow everything down enough to disrupt the flow if conversations.

Besides, there's no need to discuss anything on that channel. All trades, and whatnot, should be concluded via Tells anyway.
  19. Superskull85 Devoted Player

Err, well there is already a 30 second wait period between messages for Legendary members. It has done no good in terms of casual conversation. This is the same wait period on LFG too.

    Wait what? Since when?

You can only post a message every 30 seconds?! That's a rather long time.

I've had all those channels turned off for years. Lol
