Was it always this bad?

The game pretty much fizzled out for the league. They're all on ESO everytime I look up my PSN list.

Likely means the end of the road for me too. Might be time to click unsubscribe for the first time in almost 5 years. :(

I thought the new content might bring them back but it appears to not have been enough. I just think people got burned out on it, I'm not sure I could pinpoint it to a specific GU or anything, more just the general direction of the game. I really think they needed to get a bunch of quality of life improvements in there like the UI and servers merged. I know they're hoping to inject more money into the game with a port over to XB1, but there might not be much of anyone left at this point.

Have you looked at the comments when LFG is always flowing? It's usually the same few people asking for the same roles over and over again...Not only is that very few people in LFG, it also means they're having a lot of trouble finding people.

You are right that it depends on time of day and faction. I was Villain side and I play late at night. I have logged on a couple of times since I left and I can tell you the population is not what it once was. No matter the time of day, I can still compare it to what it used to be at that time of day.

Someone noted in a thread that there are 50,000 characters at end game CR. He was saying this to demonstrate that lots of people still played DCUO. Most players I know have more than one character at end game CR, two or three, maybe more. That would make the players at end game CR significantly less than 50,000. Compared to numbers I've seen people boast in the past, that is far from significant.

I'm not saying DCUO is dying, about to die or should die. I just can't see how anyone can argue that just as many people are playing as always have.

no. historically summer has had MORE players. even if they're bad, bored kids with nothing else to do. apologists are trying to pretend that this isn't the case but since F2P hit, summer has meant a flood of [bad] players usually.

This is a problem not just with this forum, but the world at large. People feel it's their right to spout off their opinions as facts and refuse to offer evidence to support said opinions. If you make a claim (population is lower than usual) then you must provide information to support your claim.

For instance, a personal trainer or strength coach cannot rely on how good his clients think they look or how good his clients think they feel. He needs actual numbers to show that they are making progress.

You can base your opinions on things you've noticed without numbers to support them. I believe you said we won't have numbers until the devs release them...Isn't it kind of telling that they haven't done so (I think that was you, I'm not 100% certain)? And, by the way, it is people's right to spout their opinions. One of the issues with these forums, and the world in general, is people are in denial and keep their heads in the sand until it's too late to do anything about the issues.

At any rate, my game is doing fine, so I don't know why I'm arguing the point other than to point out that you're being a bit narrow minded (I said being narrow minded, not that you are narrow minded, in case you think it's a personal attack, it is not).

Not really a right. In actuality, a privilege.

I remember the days on PS side where if you post something in the chat box then you have seconds before you messages is scroll up not I can post a shout and 10 mins later it moved up like 3 spaces.

I never said it was the same numbers, just pointing out that it isn't the doom and gloom that the people trying to kill this game keep preaching. Not you of course, but you have seen the posts.

Maybe its time for yet another tinfoil-hat :) "people trying to kill this game"... really? Low pop became a problem obviously and people want actions to be taken/crossplay/tf-x. In the long run speaking out what you deem a problem is definitely more helpful than being overly defensive and delusional. DCUO wont be killed by forum posts but a balance sheet bc thats where delusion usually ends.

Primary Source/data is information gained first hand through the person who live through the experience being described.

Secondary source info is data taken from someone who was there (primary) and regurgitated or repackaged.

Tertiary source info is basically someone describing what they read/saw in a secondary source.

As one goes down the chain, the info is less reliable as attempts to interpret the data lead to bias. Census data itself is a secondary source. Someone posting Census data is creating a tertiary source. Info provided directly by the names in green is inherently biased by the profit motive and must always be taken with a boatload of salt.

Your preference for tertiary source data does not decrease the value of Nowburn4it's primary source information/data.

I disagree, completely. DCUO is ALSO a game you fell in love with. You're still coming back!

I have 6 at end game, and a 7th and 8th that are close.

Why? I can walk out into a street in downtown and remark that there are fewer people in the streets without having to have actual head counts for previous days and the current day. Its a perfectly valid observation. One has to wonder, when you question that there are fewer people, how long you've actually played for.

I would never dispute that I may come back, I'm tempted frequently just because I miss a lot of the people.

My wife quit as well. We both have been year long subscribers since fall of '11. 227 sp she walked because of 47. I might follow if things don't improve drastically

No need for a tin foil hat here. This is something that is wide out in the open and many posters here, including "well known members" are contributing to it. They are trying to kill the game. May it be on purpose or not, they are doing it. I've seen many threads with new members asking about the game, and you know what I see? Not words of encouragement, but words of doom and gloom. I see well know members posting to not even bother with this game because it is dead. Well no crap. If well know members are telling new members not to bother, how the heck do you expect the population to grow. Veterans of this game are running off new player so how can the population build back up? Just because some of these old players don't like the loot system, or the relevance system, or even that their favorite power doesn't hit as hard as they want it to is no reason to be running off new players.

You're explaining stuff that is completely irrelevant for this discussion. Primary/secondary/tertiary sources are used in journalism or history-related arenas. What you should be taking into account is empirical vs anecdotal evidence. When someone says "I'm seeing less players on. Therefore, less people are playing," that's anecdotal. When someone else says "Here is the data I've collected regarding the number of people playing from June-August," that's empirical. Empirical>anecdotal.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with people making observations and forming opinions from said observations. However, it becomes a problem when people believe their observations to be fact or the way things actually are, when such is not the case. That's what I disagree with.

I've played for over three years. No need to wonder, just ask.

Well, if I walk into a street that is usually very busy, but there are only a few people, and I remark that there aren't as many people as there used to be, I DO consider it a fact. It is quite obvious to me, since I'm there experiencing it.
