Even though I agree with what the team are doing by having multiple marks for each tier I do agree with what most of the people here are also saying where each small content followed by a large content dlc should have its own marks that way we only get 2 different marks for each tier rather then 4

One step forward (new DLC = 2 alerts, 3 raids. YAY!), two steps back (new mark system. Facepalm)

Seriously though, you could've post a newsletter about this change or put something in the WOP section a couple weeks in advance from the test server instead of blind side us like this. This is a major break down of communication between the Devs and the players. There are a lot of solutions on here already. Pick one and for once make the players happy...

There's just something I'm not getting here.

Ok. I can understand some of you guys sentiments about not having content for the solo players with the new DLC, and forces them to have to switch up their play style for the sake of progression. But why exactly do you guys want or need that gear? The only reason why you would need the best gear in the game is for you to be able to smoothly run the hardest content. If the solo players don't plan on running the raids in this DLC, then you don't need that gear. You don't need to be CR 108 in order to smoothly run any content from AF1 & down, & you also won't need it to meet the CR requirement for any future DLC. WotL2 is most likely going to fall in under the small group type, so you will get your solos & your duos. You can skip this DLC entirely since you won't need the marks from here at all.

Logically it makes sense. If there's something I missed, let me know.

Try all the ways of leveling up a new character today and you'll see what I'm talking about. Progression in T5 gets more time consuming beyond the CR98 you'll land at with all SOT gear. To fully populate with CR90 gear, you either need to be able to finish one of the raids, or do a lot of running smaller content. Collecting enough MoT to buy a CR90 chest or leg piece from the Mogo vendor can be time consuming if you can't finish A&B, and plenty of groups still struggle with that raid.

I tried this out on a newer character, and it took enough time to go from CR98 to CR100 that I was happy to skip further play there. Compared to that, gearing up with the T6 duos was super fast. Nothing in this game right now drops CR90 gear as fast as the 8-9 minute "Port of Paradise" runs I'm seeing nowadays. Some people don't appreciate that because they arrived at T6 already in full CR90 equipment. But if you're in the top end of T5 instead, with mostly CR85 gear, the progression from CR100 to CR103 with PoP and Supply Lines is way faster than the alternatives.

If the new T6 alert(s) are really fast, maybe they become an alternative. Everything I've heard about them so far suggests even the 4-person content is not targeted at the crowd who is looking for a series of <15 minute runs. That's the useful target audience for AF1 even after HOP1 is released.

People are just making mountains out of mole hills. Most of them are already looking forward to Large group content and have stopped playing Amazon Fury anyway. They're like politicians fighting for the poor - saying there's a problem when there really isn't one.

Most solo players only shy away from 8-man content, not really the 4-man. Even with the Mark difference, that's still 8 Marks of Power a day, roughly the same as what they were getting by doing just solos and Duos in Amazon Fury. It's such a minor problem, and when it's rolled out no one will even notice it, or it'll be very easy to adjust to.

I don't really know that I've got anything new to add, but put me on the list for supporting the (small DLC + large DLC) marks - call it a tier or not, it definitely makes sense to allow all players access to marks through their preferred method.

Why would you change to MoT when you still havent fixed MoT cap this is really not a smart move

A common profile for busy adults is playing a little bit during the week--so solos/duos--and then have a small number of windows to run raids each weekend. Ideally such players can always feel like they're working a little toward a useful gear set for the raids even during the shorter sessions. The structure of the game itself even reflects that play style, with how the weekly and monthly lockouts are put together.

As a personal example, I happily chugged away to earn a full set of CR86 gear without going into Nexus/Paradox most days, with the goal at the end being a single monthly run of those raids--back when they often hit the 2 to 3 hour range PUGging. Similarly, I put together a full set of CR90 gear running small scale content, with a single monthly run into A&B. That was even more satisfying, because there were so many 1 to 4 person options available for T5 at that point. You could run the T5 duos, alerts, or operations every day. I was hoping the same sort of situation was coming after the HOP1 expansion.

I'm amused some times by all this drama over claiming replay badges are being pushed. You can progress through this game just fine only playing based on the lockout schedule. You won't be considered a serious player by many people, but you can finish each gear set before the next comes out.

I don't have time to run group stuff most days. Or rather, I don't have time to run the latest group stuff. Been playing for two years and I still need stuff from the lower tiers. So I do what I was doing at the end of Tier 5, run some of the solo stuff, then back to the lower tiers. This establishes a hard line between the two that will be difficult to pass. Between this, the Prestige debacle that is decimating lower content, and Fire's so/so Re-tooling, I think I need a break from this garbage.

Actually I think the reason of preventing people from saving up marks now to buy gear on day one of the DLC is very smart. It's actually quite brilliant.

It sounds like the Mark Rewards will still be unique, but the T6 Gear costs will be Triumph. Players will take their Marks to the converter and change them over to Triumph to then go buy the gear. It's like instead of raising the Triumph cap itself, their dividing Triumph up instead among all sorts of other types of Marks. The cap should be a non-issue unless people try to convert all their marks at the same time, rather that just when they need to.

It goes both ways. When WoL2 drops everything in DLC11 will become obsolete. We will have at least one raid, but if we plan on progressing our toons we will sit in that one raid for months at a time.. Every three moths our gear will become obsolete and we go right back to square one.

been playing this game since there were marks of krypton, war, momentum, triumph, influence, tactics...seen them all..i guess i just don't see the big deal with all the fuss.
oh boo hoo we all have 100 marks of fury saved up and now we can't buy gear the first day!?!? so what convert to prestige and help your league hall, there are 3 new raids, 2 new alerts...basically if you are in a capable group and can finish all those in a decent time frame you can earn i'm assuming is 10 marks per raid and 5 per alert still....thats 40 marks you earn for vendor gear and if you look at the picture the op posted the gear is not expensive at all....NOT INCLUDING if you get the better gear drops from the "hard" raid to supplement your gear hoarding....personally it shouldn't matter...because once you understand the mechanics of the raids "which is the whole idea" you can replay them faster and earn marks faster...then you can be almighty trogdor with the shiny new end game gear and be all happy in your powdered doughnut paradise

Meh, I recommend giving up on Tier 6 until Tier 7 comes along. This mess just isn't worth grinding through. One of the defenses of AF1's lack of content was that it would be patched together with the rest of Tier 6. One of the defenses of the Rare Style Vendor switching to MoF was that we'd get more options to earn marks for it. Neither holds up, nor does this solution.

I think it comes down to having a goal.

It's going to be 3 to 4 months to the next DLC. Casual players have probably completed their full T6 set by now; probably even a second set. So why keep playing the game at all if there's nothing to spend marks on? Do the devs just say "sorry you don't feel rewarded for logging in regularly; hope you'll come back in 3 to 4 months!"
  17. CrazyArtBrown Dedicated Player

When the limit is 100, it's pretty irrelevant. What can you really buy with that? A weapon and a necklace? Chest and two rings? It's not a large percentage of the full set.

Being able to jump the gun earning marks in advance would give a couple of days head start over the serious players, at best. The week head start Legendary players get over everyone else has more of an impact. I can understand wanting everyone to have a fair and even starting point for the new content, but unless the limit goes way up it's a pretty minor detail.

The point is you can still buy gear from the new DLC without having actually run anything in said DLC.

I don't think it's about fairness as much as it is about making new content stay relevant longer. Having players not be able to save up 100 marks in preparation is the difference in them finishing a DLC set by 2 weeks or so. That's pretty significant.

What benefit does DLC10 offer me now? I have all the feats and gear. If anything, this makes content irrelevant, sooner. Had I been able to earn marks from DLC10 content, I would have continued to run it. It serves no purpose to me, now. Nor anyone in my league. It also doesn't serve purpose to anyone not yet at the T6 level. Why buy DLC10 if better progression for the same amount of work is in DLC11?
  20. Original Gunna Well-Known Player

I have to agree with this if the goal is to encourage replay value. (just and idea) make everything cost marks of triumph and either raise the cap of triumph or.. Lessen the amount of marks we get from each raid to even it out. That way there's still a reason to run the older content besides prestige. Sorry if this was said already! Which by judging peoples responses it already has.
