Distributed Denial of Service. It means they send massive flood of connections to your server which prevents other people from getting in. It's like when the US government said everyone had to apply for obamacare and they all logged into the gov website and it crashed.

If they are being attacked by malicious individuals, we have no control. (Outside of the CEO poking a dragon that one time.)
If they are hardware related, servers have stability issues because they are always running. It is happening company wide, I think this is a little more involved than just "fix it".

If then asking, "Why don't they prevent this?", then consider who the "they" in that sentence is. "They" are the looming omniscience we wish had control of everything so there are no problems. No such "they" exists. The closest thing we have to a "they" is government.

This is not their first day on the job, and this is not the first time it has happened. By now most, if not all, are aware that there is no "one-time fix it all". BUT DUDE - get it together.
I REALLY wish another company would take over DC Universe Online. DAYBREAK is more concerned with other games, and pays very little attention to this one. I make this claim based on how frequent this game sits in the corner. I get all those hard core fans out there, who would take a bullet for this company, but this SH*T is far too frequent to just accept without a concern.
DC Universe Online belongs in better hands ...

TMU it's because Daybreak games are an easy target for lack of any coherent safeguard against DDOS attacks. Not that you can fully prevent them, but you can damn well make sure kids can't do simple ddos attacks to convince themselves they are hackers.
