I just hope I see GSP actually go in for an KO or TKO. Lately, he just has been playing it safe, once he feels that he is leading on points. He just takes the guy to ground & to kill time. But, I am really looking forward to the fight. Anyone see Hendo get knock the **** out by Belfort?
I disagree, I think it only seems that way because of his explosive knockouts, but l would point to his last fight against Condit as proof that he's not. Condit actually statistically outstruck him in the fight, but Hendricks won the fight based on his domination with the takedown. Granted, Condit's biggest flaw is his takedown defense, but Hendricks was a four time All-American and two time national champion wrestler at Oklahoma State... He's got more than one trick IMO. I agree, with GSP it has basically turned into a cycle: Pre-fight: "I am going to finish him" Fight: (boring GSP decision) Post-fight: "I'm sorry I could not finish, I promise to do better next time" That being said, it's the reason he's kept the belt so long and what makes the Hendricks fight so interesting.. I'm looking forward to it too. And yeah, seeing Hendo get knocked out broke my heart (huge Hendo fan here, actually wearing one of his shirts as I type this), but I think his age has finally caught up to him. In his last three fights he's looked completely slow, and he really does nothing now but try to land the H-bomb... Unless one final retirement fight is offered to him (Him and Shogun again would be amazing), I think he needs to hang it up. Me too man, me too. I'm excited to see Chael get in there with Rashad as well. The entire card is awesome.
Well you got to give GSP credit. Though he has been taking the safe route, no one has forced him to actually fight it out to the end.
Yup, but that's what happens when you leave it up the judges on a championship fight. Why is Sonnen so popular? Because he can talk a lot crap? He should have retired a long time ago. Speaking of a crap talkers, Koscheck OWNED. He didn't stand a chance, I thought he was going to put a better fight than that.
Speaking only for myself, I just find him really funny and I appreciate his aggressiveness inside the octagon. I think he's still got ability left but he badly needs to move back down to 185. His style is based on his ability to overpower his opponents, and he just isn't big or strong enough to do that at 205. Between 2009 and last night, he's only lost to Anderson (twice) and Jon Jones, arguably the 2 best fighters walking the planet, so it's not like he was facing scrubs and got beat.
