Uber Fail...

Its extremely difficult for me to articulate how disappointed I am with the continued direction of styles over substance approach that seems to be the norm for DCUO these days.

I would much rather be constructing a thread discussing the outstanding game play, fantastic new events, wonderful constructed instances, necessary teamwork, brand new powers, awesome mechanics, incredible story lines, or various other avenues that make a game fun and exciting for its community.

Instead, we only seem to have an abundance of booster bumbles and loot hoaxes.

This is another, in what is becoming a long list of uber fails, IMO, for this game. I don't personally mind purchasable items being available. I don't mind a tidy profit being made for something I enjoy. What I do mind is feeling there is no substance to the game anymore, no direction, no hope for a bright future, only a few cosmetic changes that are often over priced, or worse yet, put behind a RNG wall to force overspending by the player base.

This is not the way to entice players to continue playing the game I used to love to play.

This is not the way to lure players into returning to the game they used to love.

This is just no the way, IMO, to make DCUO great again.

I am not sure what else I can say that hasn't already been said. This is disappointment, utter disappointment all around.

I hope everyone enjoys their new shinny toys. In days, the new will wear off, yet we will still be singing about the short comings of the game, the lack of exciting new content, the lack of direction, the lack of new powers, the missing new wonderful features, we will only be disusing how ridiculously OP we look in comparison to the content we are playing.

    Nuf said.

But the booster bundle wasn't an utter fail. It looks awesome.

As to the content, I agree that DoS and Deluge were disappointing (but, mind you, only because I already played Starro a ton last year), except for Spindrift, which was nice. E3 I actually really liked, both the open world (nice variety, good humor, etc.) and instances were good.

I hope we get another DLC that is like E3 in terms of quality.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm with you on that. Basically Deluge seemed to be "half of a DLC" because of the incorporation of all of the Starro event from last year with a few modifications... mods they would've had to do anyway even if they only brought back Starro as an event because of the stats revamp between last year and this year.

As to Spindrift Station... YES PLEASE. More like that. More stuff that isn't just tank-and-spank.

    "I really hate... Mondays." :)

    Agreed.

It may look awesome, but does booster bumble add anything significant in terms of game play? Will players log in or come back simply because of the booster bumble? I highly doubt it.

In terms of sheer volume, we receive far more of these cosmetic cover up items, than we do actual new game play. We are six months into the year, and the events and instance tabs are growing at a significantly reduced rate in comparison to years past. They can say this is to make sure its ready for release, the extra time is to make the events better, but the infrequency of the releases are greatly hindering desire to play the game as actively as I used to.

In short, cosmetics over content is disturbing trend that I wish they would move away from, its great to look nice, but it would be even better feel great in new shinny content that would actually provide the entertainment value that is so sorely missing from this age of DCUO.

As a matter of fact I do if this means more interesting mechanics. And why can I say this? Because I already offered you ingame help twice. It's in your own hand to prevent panic attacks :p

Despite the fact that I really like gaming and love styles and base items, I see where the OP is coming from. Despite the fact that I was farming around 400 spring items this year with multiple toons just to decorate a base, DoS is certainly lacking something. I still love deluge even though I played the starro event last year. I don't know why but I find these dailies ... satisfying ... if that makes any sense.

The DoS dailies are boring though. Especially the Doomsday daily.

    - too few rewards (only collections you can delete, an abundance of Probiotics, an occational mark...)
    - incredibly boring fight
    - Doomsday ignoring everyone and just running after Superman

    - the death aura is super neat though. Need more things like that :D

I would have loved it if the daily has some mechanic like kiting Doomsday into a "random" area where there are "random" tech events happening that weaken him enough to repel him. Don't know but anyhting that is more than "beat the crap out of something" would fulfil me.
A solo to help develop the Probiotics would have been cool as well.

I get that the devs are only a few and there are only so much things you can do in a short period of time. But putting some in-depth story into these small pieces would have been cool.

I'm really curious about the upcoming Teen Titans DLC. And my personal message to the devs: Be curious and adventurous with new mechanics. Spindrift station was a step in the right direction. Loved the healing-shield on the Ultimate Solder, Time-shifting in the Per Degaton Fight was awesome. Try more of that stuff devs and more of that in one instance. One cool mechanic doesn't make an instance whole.
    (I know I am greedy ^^)

Actually, panic attacks can't really be prevented in the way you're thinking. That's why they're called panic attacks. They occur suddenly, often without any way to anticipate what external factors will provoke the attack.

I suffered from panic attacks for over a year. The only way to truly prevent the attacks is to find the underflying cause(s) to the attacks themselves. In my case, It turned out it was diet related due to my blood chemistry becoming too acidic from the foods I ate and allergies I had to some foods. Stress was only a small factor because my body was not able to adjust to that stress in a healthy way.

Given your jovial emote, I realize there was some jest in your post, so my post may not be directed at you. I am merely speaking up because I have encountered a lot of misunderstanding from people as to how panic attacks occur. During several of my attacks, I was told that I "just need to calm down" by doctors and nurses alike. I have been taught since then not to fight panic attacks and to ride them out. Trying to "calm down" or fight against them just makes them last longer.

I have to agree here, when half the livestreams the game has is about loot box styles, and rarely about combat mechanics or changes in general, there's a big problem. To someone looking into getting into the game, maybe watching a few of their YouTube playbacks to get an idea of what the game is about, it's not a good look. Especially with the rising contraversy regarding loot boxes.

It was partly in jest as another poster surmised, I do have the hang of Spindrift now. But don’t worry, if they start making more raids like that then I will be breaking down your door. :D

Love you too :p Seriously though, I think I should be okay in future, Spindrift was just a nasty shock after things like ZooN and EscN. Plus people have offered to help me out so there’s that. :)

No worries. I do pretty well know how they work, not personally by myself but I know a few people I had worked with a couple of years ago. In the post it was more directed about another post when Deluge aired. Usually the points that were made can be carefully prevented, hence my help offer ^^ Some situations where they occur can be prevented.

And also true, the words "calm down" have never in history caused the calming-down of an individual :D

No need to break down an open door ;) Also happy to see that you got the hang of the raid!

I don't know what to say anymore, at this point it looks like the game is just done. We had so many threads with constructive feedback this month and just one of them got a reply that was just the classic: "We are looking at it", besides Meg that is always active and trying to do something, it looks like the devs just gave up.

When Mepps announced the livestreams with a new GU and DOS content i was actually excited and got some hope, but it was just more cosmetics and nothing really substantial to gameplay. Then Jack appears talking about Superman comics like there's nothing going on with the game and like he didn't disappear for more than half a year. Don't get me wrong, i really like when they try something to bring us closer to them and all, but really? Make a livestream talking about comics with all the chaos and problems the game has, then in the next day release another cosmetic loot box?

Are they just keep going to release a recycled episode->Booster Bundle->Time Capsule->Style unlocking phase X? No gameplay changes, PvP, new game modes, challenging content or bug fixing updates? I mean, you can keep it like it is, some guys will continue to buy it and support fashion universe online, it could even be a smart idea if you had half a million active players like some games out there, but you won't be able to keep the lights up when everyone who cares about gameplay leave the game.

    This.

I do not believe styles alone is enough to carry save the game, warrant any time played, or lure new/returning customers. In essence I feel they have become part of the problem, and little of the solution in regards to longevity of the game.

Sure, you need some of these items for financial purposes, I get that, its just disappointing they are the now main focal point, and have been for some time now, and not the actual game play, mechanics, powers, instances, and releases etc. that we fell in love with.

Frankly there's not really anything special you have to do in SSr, besides the puzzle and the mines that require like 4 guys doing something, the entire raid is basically tank and spank.

I don't know if you have some IRL problem that prevents u from paying attention or doing certain actions, but if you don't, i guess it's time to learn a little more about the game, so you don't suffer any panic attacks when doing end-game content :p .

Overall that is my feeling, the game is done. Its a shell of its former self. I wish wholeheartedly for it not to be the case, but month after month, delay after delay, booster bumble after booster bumble, lock hoaxes after lock hoax, I am thoroughly been convinced they have lost their path, they have no intent in finding it, and they are just out to make as many dollars as they can off of the small loyal player base they have left, squeezing them for as much as they can with "Hey look at this new shinny..." mantra that seems to prevail over any real game advancement.

Personally I am glad my sub ended this month. I will not be renewing until I see a major change in tactics, which at this rate will imply never. My wallet will speak. I have been loyal since 2011, no mas daybreak, no mas. You lost your way.

There is a relatively high probability that IRL, any game player encountered would have a disability. Studies have shown on average, around 20% of game players are disabled. This is far more than what you would encounter in your day to day activities.

In fact, studies show 92% of individuals with disabilities play some form of video games.

I always cringe when I hear players complain about someone not being able to do something in game, we dont know their daily struggles.
