If you're relying on players to understand where your game is broken in order for players to work around a design problem, rather than fixxing the problem at its source.

I'm sure you did, you went from being able to run through lower tier bosses solo without a second thought. Cool, but you didn't account for the 7 others experience they may have wanted to have. What if I were in your group and wanted to participate? My enjoyment is at the hands of players who wants to get out of the content as fast as possible doing singular attacks that can outright kill low tier bosses.

New players don't want to come to a game where the veteran players want these players completely separated from themselves.

Why would I play DCUO, when its own players dont want the new player experience considered?

Yep yep, and I also remember them saying "You will not feel weak". I guess they meant "you will not feel weak" in End Game content because they sure as _____ didn't mean EEG. Ok, I've got to go, this is starting to make my blood boil again just thinking about it and I want to have a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Then you form your own group. The same thing that's been given as a "solution" to the clamped environment whenever someone brings up valid issues with it.

Problems lie with the players and who you get unfortunate enough to be grouped up with in both scenarios.

The difference between the two, and this has been explained countless times in that other thread, is that one person's "ruined" experience was still met with some sort of success, whereas now? You end up running head on into a wall and there is no getting past it.

If you were in a group with me prior to the clamp, and low level, I would have made sure to carry you through it. I didn't leave players behind and joined plenty of feat run/gear run instances upon request. I didn't play like an absolute ******* and leave people behind. There were players before, like it or not, that could easily cope and help people through. Now? I'll absolutely refuse to help, that's if I'm even on the game to be contacted. I'm not playing the instances for fun, so I'm out of the equation there of being randomly thrown into a group. I'm laughing to myself watching people struggle to find groups or get people to even queue into Omni at all. You got what you asked for, now deal with it. Nobody wants to play? Shocker...

And prior to the clamp, there were other avenues where newer players could "contribute" (if you even want to call it that...). There was event mode of the latest DLC out constantly. They could have their fill in there and feel like they actually did something. I'm not going to kid anyone... most of those new players were absolute trash at the game. Handicapping the rest of us to this extent, just so they can show up on the scoreboard like they actually did something, it's just insane.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend I'm for the new players. Most of them don't bother sticking around, and it isn't due to a clamp. The game itself is extremely predatory in it's pay to win aspect, and most people aren't going to want to spend the time or money involved to get caught up. Every single one of my friends that I've tried to introduce to the game took one look at the marketplace and laughed... it's ridiculous.

2011. People who lived through it got the Back From The Hack Feat.

(I was not around then. I didn't join until March, 2012, just after Battle For Earth dropped. Prime Battleground was the big scary. Episodes were dropping like clockwork every three months.)

There are two members of the creator league who don't appear to play, or at least who don't do Twitch or YouTube videos under the originally listed links: a noob named "Giraffanat," who did what turned out to be a one-and-done video, and someone named "Klark."

The members of the creator league who do create content for DCUO are: Metanite, Multiverse, who both do zillions of videos on YouTube and Twitch, and ObsidianChill, who sticks to YouTube.

I have actually looked on Twitch and YouTube, the 20th and the 21st. Could not find a single thing related to DCUO. But, one video title said they would be trying out DCUO - the video ends before any such thing happened. Wonder what happened to all of those codes... I like scented candles. Vanilla Birch is a favorite from Chesapeake Bay.

Once I realized my "complaints" were falling on deaf ears, I did just that.

I agree with almost everything you say, except "The only thing that seemingly keeps players engaged for any length of time boils down to either new styles or new feats." To me the only thing that keeps players engaged for any length of time is new EG content and spending money to be at EG content. Replay badges, capsules, wolfpack tokens, etc..... Keep spending to be at the top, get to the top, leave and come back for new EG content. Tuesday will be crazy busy again....for a little while.

You are correct in my case as that describes me as to how I spend all of my time in EG content. I’m not going to spend money on a Wolfpack token ever or on a TC, I have bought some Replay badges.

I extremely oversimplified it, but yes, you're right. Essentially that is where all the new styles and feats are. People come in, grab the new "shiny" things and wait for the next round of the same exact thing with a fresh coat of paint.

Granted, everything you mentioned makes those easier/faster to obtain, but the goals remain the same at the end of the day.

It's simple as that, these methods which they ''test'' on us players, make people speak loud.

Players clearly don't want this drastic methods to suck us up out of money.

You can't force anyone to pay, right e.g Artifacts? Gamers see it this way: "if I want it, I'll buy it because I like it".

It always has been like that, and always will be. The pressure to pay will always push people away.

You can't force anyone to pay, you'll rather make this person simply leave that ship.

I have nothing against ''Generating Money'' but the pressure to pay is a bit too much.

Without us players this game wouldn't exist.

Why would a game studio promote content creators that don't play their game? And I bet you I know what happened, someone at the studio asked an AI program to make a list of DCUO content creators, and in typical AI style it gave them a mix of real DCUO content creators and random people.

Oh they push the money making tactics hard alright. If I remember correctly, (I cannot find the forum post so if anyone has it, that would be greatly appreciated), didn't they mention not being able to balance a power but if you got an ally it would basically balance it? But tomorrow new episode drops so you can buy all those upgrade items if you don't want to earn them, who knows, maybe DCUO will sell the new currency and cut out the playing entirely.
  17. Ghostknight Well-Known Player

Exactly. Artifacts, Nth metal, replay badges, etc.... DI is going to continue to sell things that allows old and new players to be at the top of the game. Lots of new players don't want to grind to EG so they pay to win and remaining OG ppls pay to stay competitive with the new ppls (and be the best). DI/EG7 knows this, so why change the strategy on an old game.

I don't spend a dime now, except for my subscription (my personal choice) and it takes me awhile to get anything leveled. But this was the old way I got to EG content, so I guess I will continue to do it this way until the end of this game. Well, unless they remove the clamp (or modify it) and develop more different/excited content. Then I would probably start spending again. Hoping for the best and dreaming big is what I do first. Anticipating and preparing for the worse I do second.

    I admire your optimism.
  19. MsTickle Fate Devoted Player

I don't think it's particularly unreasonable for whoever compiled the list to have taken the creator at her word in the title that she included DCUO content and didn't go to the length of actually inspecting the video for said content.

I have no life, as witness my being here, so I can waste time checking. (Not that it actually took more than a few seconds.)

And I'm no mind-reader, but I don't think the creator intended to deceive anyone; she just optimistically intended to get to some DCUO in that stream, but got distracted and didn't.

Why she didn't get back to it at some later date, I couldn't say, but none of this is worth fussing about from any angle, IMO.

That said, some attention from game employees getting back to doing some spontaneous in-game events the way Mepps used to would be time well-spent on making users happier.

Looks like I may have called it with them selling currency. Absolutely shameless and money hungry!
