As we all have...however.. They didn't remove that magical number. That magical number you hold dear allowed you access to whatever run that is clamped, then it is adjusted +10 for the instance. You still are what ever CR going in..and going out of the instance. Your CR doesn't determine any factor of completing the instance. If you want it like FF14, you are indeed asking for more of a clamp than what you are facing now in DC in early end game. This not to mention that there was a drought in content with FF14 caused out of casualization of the community.

I think you are making an argument, that really isn't an argument. Especially one that is as trivial. In reality, the clamp has never defeated the purpose of character progression as you HAD to progress to still gain and maintain access to that content, and this is not even mentioning the continued experience and knowledge needed to complete the instance which carries well more than 50% of a success rate over whatever stats are made available while in content. How many times have you been in an instance where all around you players are dropping like flies, but yet you are the only one alive trying to do pickups because you knew what to do?

If you want the warm and fuzzy of seeing that number in the top left hand corner that really means nothing and don't want to be stuck in end game content while doing it...that is what casual mode is for.

The only way to avoid this problem is to never have any mechanics. The only way power creep without a clamp wouldn't break instances if if boss fights were just the boss standing there doing weapon combos while DPS's pew pew until they're dead.

    That would be completely awful.

Very well, then all should stop complaining about “power creep” then, and clutching of pearls lamenting “oh know, some players are getting stronger making the content easier for them! Their violating the spirit of the game!”
  5. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Can't win them all. The power creep was a long standing issue even recognized by the Devs as we progressed forward. At least there is some validity to that. However, continuing to complain about the clamp when the Devs acknowledged those complaints by installing casual mode is insanity. Now those who are arguing "Well they didn't introduce all the feats to casual mode" as a further argument against stat clamping, when the persons making that argument should have been honest with themselves and others behind "It isn't about feats" responses used in the past also shows a level of insanity that its really difficult to comprehend.

No, any feat that is/was available in “Event Mode” logically should be available in “Casual Mode”, all they have done is changed the name, and re-added it back to clamped EEG content.
  7. Dev72 Dedicated Player

That is what one gets for not being honest in their initial arguments. You get what you ask for.

I never have really understood why “Event Mode”, now “Casual Mode” gets removed when a new DLC is released and the prior one falls to second spot. It seems easier to me to just leave everything alone with the four levels of choice for each DLC: Casual Mode, Regular, Elite, and Elite+.

What I'm saying is I disagree when you all make these statements about things being impossible to finish or requiring some great legnths to be able to finish like stripping buck naked and going to the WT to reset your SP just to fight a boss. Things like "I could triangle tap and 1 shot bla bla bosses", Could you do it with Bruno? Sure. A walk in 'boss' in a leveling mission. Great example. Try that crap with any boss above maybe BFE and it's just BS. It was BS 4 years ago, and would still be today if clamp had never gone in. I honestly don't really have an issue with the clamp as much as I have an issue with the pro clampers who spout this nonsense.

Um...if you have to figure out how to make things work each time, well, you are easily puzzled. Maybe for some wacky feat and if you had a non-standard group makeup(like trying a 2 tank feat with 1 tank)...sure. But I can't think of almost any issue in this game that once I had beaten the run or achieved a feat, I had to ponder how to do the same thing over again just because the names were different on a 2nd run.

I might be unidimensional, but at least I don't have short term memory loss.

Ran KNOE 3x last night. Totally different groups of people. Took all of 10 seconds to 'puzzle' out how to best beat phase one. "Grundy and 5?"..."yup"..."ok"...'Bet"... Whew...good thing we were able to unwrap that enigma.

Missed the point, but that was a pretty funny meme.:D

That would call for downloading multiple individual DLCs of the same end game content, which takes up space. Entirely unnecessary when it is much easier and more compressed to include them all in one package with each release.
  12. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

While I appreciate that some have said this phrase, I'm not sure I ever said 'feel powerful' other than using it in a reply on the subject. Just saying, point that nonsense elsewhere. I've always said it was about the time. Time just to run the run naturally, time to grind out feats that were meant to be done over 3 or 4 months of daily/weekly runs, time stuck having to re-explain easy mechanics, time to build a group where it wouldn't have been needed prior to the clamp, and time spent filling and back filling empty slots as people decided it wasn't worth finishing a lost cause and bail (ok, that one is more omni related).

Are feats in there? Yeah, there are some that were built to be 'easier' as you grew stronger(speed feats, Proma, no deaths)....we were told so by the devs themselves 'Come back later and get the feats when you are higher CR'(paraphrased), but there aren't that many of those...not nearly as many as there are ones where all those time factors are the bigger preventative to getting the feats done.

And same as you point out that anti-clampers were secretly wanting feats, but hiding behind the 'feels powerful' or 'stole my stats' nonsense, the same could be said of the clamp side with the disguise of 'challenging runs', 'impossible to get in' or 'fixing 1 shot glitches' when it's obvious the main goal is pocket watching someone else being able to get 'easy feats'. It's not challenge....no one balked at 'casual mode' it's not the loot as casual mode pays that in droves and it's not segmenting the queues as not many had an issue with private queue....your side is primarily concerned with feats not being made easier....scratch that...AS easy as they were for 7 or 8 years prior to 2021.

    I ain't mad though....just more honest than some:D

So you have issues with pro clampers stating bosses could glitch (which was already acknowledged by the devs) and players saying they had to be careful not to glitch bosses (something you stated you do) but don’t have an issue with anti clampers spouting BS for years claiming it was never about feats or rewards but about feeling powerful?

Every thread about the clamp in the past was filled with players claiming it’s always been about it feeling powerful and about feeling their stats were “taken” from them. No matter how many times they’ve adjusted the clamp and after introducing the casual mode, all of a sudden it’s about feats? Whenever this was stated in the past by pro clampers, the other guys would cry about us putting words in their mouths. Now that feats are the only thing left to obtain their true colors have been proven.

Sorry but I find that line of thinking pretty insane.

But isn’t that what they have now done? With Omni we have the choice of “Casual Mode” formerly “Event Mode”, Regular, Elite, and Elite+ just as always, right?

Isn’t DCUO cloud based anyways with zero offline game play? Wouldn’t all of the aspects of the multiple individual DLCs be in the Cloud, and that is why they are now including “Casual Mode” in EEG content?

SILENCE! It’s not nonsense! I DO want to feel powerful and they DO steal my stats!

I love that feeling of accomplishment and enjoying the fruits of my labor and honing my gaming skills. It baffles me that others do not derive similar enjoyment from playing a Super Hero game. I know, instead of Super Heroes, maybe DCUO should re-market us as significantly more physically fit athletic individuals who are either heroic or anti-heroic?

You still have to download onto the gaming platform, at least for console users. In order to reach the other modes, you have to que the specific instance, where with Omni it places you randomly in regular content.

Ima be real. Ive been in many groups where there has been speed hackers melting bosses in under 5 seconds, not once has it glitched out any instance besides 1 where enemies became immune, which in and of itself is not a bug where killing things to fast causes it. That bug already exists based on location to the enemy and the render distance/zoning.

Clamp is fine for people who want a challenge and to enjoy that portion of the game in on duty instances.

Clamp is not ok when you are running around in open worlds related to DLCs. Its not needed and only adds hinderance to the gameplay. No one does tier 1-4 content in open worlds except for dailies that have feat tied to them, clamp or no clamp, whatever. Its more the 4-8 player stuff that no one does and even then, when you do them, there are hardly any rewards other than a gear box and reduced source marks anyways, meaning if you are over levelled, most likely, the rewards, other than source marks are useless. I run these daily to get those feats, each and every time i see in the phase menu 1/50. I am the only person running them and actively being in old content. New players are not, there are possibly 1000's of new players who has never seen new genesis, wastelands, warfront, or war torn village.

To me its a population issue. EU there is no one running old open world content. Not a soul, why are players punished for entering old content that is dead and unplayed? Wayward souls, Black dawn, With a vengence, these are all alerts/raids that take place in open world with no clamp and there is never a time i see it bugged. Sure, SOME sections are not clamped and they are the bosses in instances, thats fine with me.

"easy feats" is a back thought to all this, i dont care for easy feats, i sit and grind feats all day regardless. Allow newer players, or older players experience old, dead content in open worlds instead of locking it all behind a population that does not even think about that content for a second

While I appreciate your honesty, I have seen in instances where over burning in older content can cause a plethora of issues where multiple phases begin to overlap making it impossible to get the feats. Prime examples include Cursed Themiscyra Elite+, second boss feats, and also feats in Ulitmate Soldier Elite where overburning can cause multiple ad phases overwhelming the group. The EU population issue is a reason why a lot of players on EU have moved to the U.S. server where it is a bit more active. Although, some population issues remain in some open world instances on the U.S. server, it is much easier to grab a few league members to run those if your league is active.

I have also learned to let go of some feats that are no longer obtainable, or through RNG tied to TCs..especially when there are many more feats added to make up for that loss. At 905sp...it really doesn't matter at this point.
  19. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

No I have issues with the fact that SOME people present it as though NOT glitching bosses was impossible or required excessive means. Not only was it possible, it wasn't really that hard. And I hate to tell you, but even clamped, there are still things that could be glitched...or in the case of the SOBA solo 1st boss....it glitched when at 'current' level. Guess we should 'clamp' current stuff? On top of that there was the fallacy that a large majority of alert and raid bosses were able to be 1 shotted....again, outside of original game content or maybe the first few DLCs, this was bunk. These are generally the discussions I chime in on....I don't care about the rest.

And no...I don't have any issue with people saying that they don't like it because they don't 'feel powerful' or whatever....I'm not responding to them. I also don't know they think or how they feel. I will generally only chime in with things I know...or I feel. Can I assume it's about feats? Sure. Could be....but I don't really care about that either...well, at least to the extent you do.;) Or I'll rebutt someone spouting nonsense (like the fact you could triangle tap MOST bosses out there).

I'll gladly admit that SOME of the anti side is only in it for the feats if you acknowledge that SOME of the pro side is only wanting to gatekeep the same 'easy' feats they themselves knocked out prior to the clamp. Hate to tell you, but as we've gotten unlimited loot in casual...private queue content...a lot of your sides 'true colors' have been exposed as well. It's a lot less about the integrity of the runs or health of the game than it is granting...or adding hurdles to...those same feats.

    And I never reported I'm NOT insane.

This is exactly what they've done, and it isn't getting removed unless they eliminate Casual mode as a whole. I don't know why the other poster is suggesting it's impossible, or some huge other thing that has to be reserved as separate data. It's all the same instance... with minor changes being to how the clamp does it's clamping and mechanics either taking place or not taking place depending on difficulty level.

There technically isn't an event mode anymore. It's Casual mode, and it contains feats that were available in event level content going backwards. So all previous DLC event level content that is now in Casual Mode has these feats.

Hopefully you've had the chance to check it out. Realistically, I think that's the best we'll get.
