Thoughts since Launch of GU36

Just tried my rage dps for awhile and the changes seem minimal but still very noticeable, combat feels a little off now like its lost the fluid speed it always had.

Now im pressing buttons and nothings happening until i press them again because of the dovetail.

I know "learn to readjust" but 3 years into the game after launch? Uhuh no thank you.

DCUO was on par with the fighting combat in games like the Batman Arkham series. Really fast flowing , now its gone more towards the usual MMO way with spaces between attacks which a few wont like.

Wonder how long until people have adjusted to these new dovetails and then SOE hit them with a "we have listened to feedback and changed the dovetails" thread.

my thoughts on this update...I'm not digging the slower pace and might decrease. I'm waiting the whole thing out though until Amazon Fury and weapon mastery drops. Hopefully it's mindblowing and it will put the update more into perspective but until then I will just probably check into the game when I can. If the new DLC and WM disappoints then I may take a break and just come back later. I do find it is good to do this anyway.

Do not like this one bit. Slow and clunky. The most fun I had was seeing who could throw the best fastball since apparently many powers now throw baseballs. You better hope wm hits soon because that's the best distraction to this horrid update.

Good job with the mics though.

Assuming 1400 restoration, 0 dom, 40% crit magnitude from armour and current SP, 10% crit chance from armour and current skills and a heal power that does a base of 76 points gives an expected heal of 601.0.

You spend three skill points for 3x15 = 45 restoration or 3x1% = 3% crit chance or 3 skill points for 3x4% = 12% crit mag to get
    616.0
    612.0
    607.8
    respectively.

Aside from shields not being affected by crits but relying on restoration please kindly explain how doing 1.3% less healing is a buff.

I played around with gadgets some more with trying to adjust and man is it weird flow wise. I'll run with it and see how it flows with WM. I too have been around for three plus years and the speed of the game is forever embedded in to my brain. Even if I jump cancelled fear gas or not, there was always a good sense of speed, a flow that felt good and pretty seemless. This was pretty much a hallmark on why this game is/was good despite its flaws with a fast, fun, fluid pace with battle mechanics.

To your last point about "we have listened to feedback and changed the dovetails" I'll say roughly 2 weeks after dlc10 goes live. That should give a pretty good time to see how it paces into WM, imo.

My first impression after roughly an hour and a half of "readjusting" to a slower pace... Unnecessary. I feel like the fluidity and pace should not have changed. I feel like the fluidity pre gu36 could have transitioned nicely with WM without skipping a beat. If they slow the game down any further battle wise, might as well make it a turn based game then.

So far it seems to be more like a handcuff and a hindrance than a compliment to the battle mechanics.

I'll try it again, but as a Gadgets player, so far I don't like the results (did a couple alerts). The animations for every power is slower, especially the grenades, cryofoam, stasis field and fear gas. What took half a second before with the grenades now take 2-3 seconds because now I have to wait for the entire animation to cycle before I can do something else (use another power or use weapon), plus they look sloppy.

To be fair, based on the values I gave at around 2060 restoration 3% crit chance becomes slightly better than 45 rest by about 0.015 points of healing expected on average and at a base 3595 rest 12% crit mag becomes better than 45 extra rest by about 0.05 points but I don't know what you have to do to have a restoration of 3595.

    After running
    A) Trigon
    B) A&B
    C) A few Solos
    D) a Duo or two

I can say... The update isn't as bad as everyone seemed to make it out to be (including myself)...

    1) Though everyone has less Might and Precision... The increased number of Critical Attack Chances and Damage Increases balance that out.
    2) The Rifle nerf? Well it is a bit nerfed and does split more... it's a lot faster and doesn't really affect single target that bad (Need to test this in Nexus for a good value of "splittage".
    3) The time to complete the aforementioned instances was about the same which tells me the "nerfs" weren't as bad as people were worried about... Manheim Theater is still a 2 minute run... AB is still about 30 minutes... And I did Gotham Subway and that's still about a 7 minute run...

I will test more on my other toons to see if splitting is worse on other powers... but so far... Sorcery isn't better or worse off.
I have a toon for every power (except HL that is lvl 10 only) but we shall see what they do as far as damage.

this is the rub. if you go back and read posts and watch vids, you will see that there is no intention at all to balance. it has been posted that celestial HL and rage were, are and will continue to be THE three top tier powersets. the only thing that GU36 balanced was animation times by making them sluggish. and the only thing WM will balance is the three top tier powersets. and if you have to wait for the animation to finish to start your next move be it weapon or power, it would appear the jump cancelling was the only thing to get nerfed but clipping as well. and if this is true i guess spytles "awesome mechanics" chart is bogus.

The complaints at least for me were never about damage- they were about the pace of combat which is off (for me) atm for all the powersets i play but celestial(the update made the defile jc completely useless tho). So there's that. The damage we could do before gu 36 was excessive- the damage after gu 36 especially with WM will be excessive too, but no matter how they twist and tweak the numbers we can produce they wan't ring back the old gameplay "feel" of say Gadgets.

I guess it all comes down to what you like most..

the way you do your power or the damage you do when you use your powers...

For me... Sorcery really hasn't changed that much.
And so far... the other powers that I just tested...
Ice, Celestial, and Mental... they seem OK too (several powers to go)...

People should just remember one thing... this is just one step closer to balancing ALL powers...
I shouldn't be penalized if I choose Earth as a power simply because it sucks at Ranged combat..
I shouldn't be penalized if I choose Electric as one of my powers but it splits damage more than most powers I have played when it comes ot AOE...

Do I agree they should have just buffed those powers to go in line with all the other 10 powers instead of nerfing 10 powers? sure.

But whatever... what is done is done.... I look at GU36 as a step... not the end product...

Lol Mepps considering someone an advanced player in this game is the equivalent of being the smartest kid in a slow class. The games simple my 5yr old does my dailies and he can tank Nexus.
