No sarcasm intended, this has been really actually great for me. I love the sport of pvp, I like jumping in there and supporting the team, but what I hate more than anything is being a punching bag. The bad thing about pvp previously, was it was one of the most strenuous things, just trying to get the new gear. Stay alive when your opponents are all T4, just so you can at least attempt to give them some extra juice as a controller before someone accidentally steps on you. But after this new system, yeah. The first... 3 or so matches were all losses. Magnificent losses, both in arena and legends. But after auctioning a few collections and getting some money, I was able to get most of the new bloodbat set. And immediately, my role in the arena battles have become much more substantial. The last two battles, I didn't die easily at all (the arkham match, I didn't die once!), and came out on top power out in the scoreboard both times. I can finally feel whatever level my skill is at, take a purpose while I'm duking it out. I won't have to worry about listening to everyone on mics sighing at how squishy I am, while I'm trying my hardest to get some kills in and make sure everyone's full of bluejuice. I can fight alongside everyone on an almost equal footing. I haven't even touched the tiers above this yet. At first glance, I can understand why people are angry that people have been able to get the top gear so quickly. But did someone forget to spread the memo that this is seasonal? How often do you think most people are going to spend so much money so quickly to get to that top gear? Right now it's like a mad dash, but over time it will slow down. Everyone will be moving at the same pace, doing their best to get the next top gear just like before. A lot quicker, sure. But that's the point. It's meant to make things more equal, just enough to where it's not so unbearable for a squishy bloodbat controller. The map rotation is kind of awkward to me, though. That I can agree on. But that said, I can see a lot of the good in this as its' finally made pvp a more competitive experience for me. I don't feel I need to apologize when I end up in a group with more skilled / geared pvp'ers. I'm confident I can hold my own now. This is just my opinion and I welcome any opinions that differ from my own. That said, I'm going to go about finishing up that last arena map before I move on to legends. So here you go SOE, a thank you thread.
It really isn't that bad IMO! I just don't get why now that I have more might and pre, I can't hit the same DPS numbers as before.... You'd think they'd go up, not down! I've talked too a few DPS that say the same! All in all it's not that bad, SOE needs to bring the DPS numbers in line and I'm cool!!! Not sure about the other power sets...
Agreed. Overall, Im really enjoying this update.. But man... the doom and gloom around here is oppressive. Cool to hear your enjoying the new setup, Tank. You sound like you'd be a cool guy to run arenas with. Cheers!
I'm sorry but I must disagree. My biggest complaint is I had full T3 and some T4 and was forced to buy gear styles I already had to get a higher CR. They should have thrown Archangel/Bloodbat in the vault instead of Checkmate. At least then I would be able to complete the style feats instead of wasting money on styles I already collected. And the stats were lower on the higher Tier gear than the T3 I had. So I had to buy a style I already completed with lower stats just for CR. That's just dumb. Map rotation sucks. I have an Ice tank alt with 102 skill points and was getting my @ss handed to me in 1v1 Lair battles yesterday when before I could rock them.
I see. Yeah, that is unfortunate. It made it much better for the lower tiers like myself, but I do acknowledge that starting out, the people at the top are going to have to adjust pretty hard to reclaim their thrones. And I'll admit I have my gripes about map rotation. One of the legends maps right now is for a dlc I have not purchased, and I really miss Ace Chemicals 4v4 since it was my go-to map for pvp. However, there is one argument I don't seem to understand, perhaps because I was only T2 in pvp... Why do the stats matter on the new sets if the old ones were getting phased out? I thought the point of the new system was to rebalance, so I figured it was obvious all the tiers would have different stats. Was I incorrect?
And somewhat justified, IMO. Sets that I was just about to complete have dissapeared, and I´ll have to play for 4 months to get there again. I have never seen so many players quit matches when they feel they are losing. And for those of use who take pvp as something regarding skill and fairness in combat, if a teammate ditches the game, it´s practically over for us, meaning that we get nothing for trying even harder.
