It's extremely rare for a MMO/MMORPG to advertise when it is past it's prime.
DCUO already has enough trouble retaining players I doubt they would spend money to get new ones.

LOL, I seen the advertisement in the wiki like that. The best one was when Marvel Heroes was released and I saw an advertisement for that :p
  4. Green Lantern Fadi Loyal Player

Hahaha that made me laugh . But it is true , DCUO needs more advertising, it's a good game for some of you but it's an awesome game for me , been playing it since it released and am not even 1/4 bored yet

That's the perfect time to be advertising (even if it's the first time  ), otherwise with attitudes like yours they may as well shut down

You seem to underestimate the cost for advertising.
DCUO had to lay off many of their staff members and you truly believe they have enough money to advertise?

If they can't afford to advertise, they had better shut down then

and yet you are underestimating advertising costs and the need to advertise.
League of Legends rarely advertises but that does not mean they need to shut down.

Since you clearly know more than people who are specifically hired for the marketing team you should submit an application and spread your ground breaking ideas.

You clearly don't understand rolledeyes

I couldn't agree more with that statement.

League of Legends is a really famous game. I can't imagine it shutting down for a really really long time.

    1. League of Legends has a large player base
According to Riot, as of January 2014, LoL has 67 million players playing every month, 27 million players playing every day, and 7.5 million players playing at the same time during each day's peak time. The numbers may have dropped this year, but it still boasts a large number of players. A source on reddit states that, as of August 2015, LoL has 64 million players playing every month and still the same amount of players playing at the same time during each day's peak time.

    2. League of Legends is currently one of the top viewed games on Twitch. It's usually in the top 3 most viewed games.
In fact, some of the famous Twitch streamers plays League of Legends.
Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, currently has 1.99 million followers on Twitch.

    3. League of Legends is also famous on YouTube. Its official YouTube channel has 7.18 million subscribers (as of this post).
Also, If you search "League of Legends" on YouTube, it currently returns 3.5 million results.
Also, there are a good amount of famous channels that do League of Legends-related content on YouTube (link below).

    4. The official League of Legends account on Twitter has 2.66 million followers
    Source: https://twitter.com/LeagueOfLegends

TL;DR: What I'm trying to say by listing all these things is that League of Legends has really good foundation on social media, and social media is currently one of the major ways of attracting potential customers, or in this case, players.

People will say "Hmmm...this game has that many followers on Twitter. Let's see if this game is worth trying out".

People will see their favorite Twitch streamers playing League of Legends, and might want to try the game out since their favorite Twitch streamers are playing it.

Because League of Legends has a good foundation on social media and the online community in general, there's no doubt that they're still going to attract a good number of players without advertising.
