The start up content takes an hour and 15 mins? How is that a healthy idea? Please just reduce the amount of times you have to go back to the pub for no reason. I also find obtuse how you have to sit there listening to everyone say everything and get no credit if you leave the area. Please reduce this.If you have alts this has taken away any appreciation for this DLC…How is this paradigm deemed tenable? It is such a shift to only get started and receive your mod box. It seems like an idea to drive people away. I know i have found myself yelling at the screen because of the sheer boredom and inane drivel that doing this tedious list of tasks has caused.
As someone who doesnt enjoy storytelling in videogames, this is beyond annoying. Another game that does this, which annoys me to the point of somethimes not touching other characters is Destiny 2. Even though a great game in general, getting forced to replay content just to access other content is sometimes reason enough for players to not care doing it at all. If you watch Lord of the rings 1 and get told, you have to actively watch it 2x before you can watch Lord of the rings 2, would you do it? Maybe, if you know the 2nd part is reaallly good, but you wont enjoy it, maybe even start hating it although you liked the first part a lot in the first place. Adding a way of skipping that content, even if it requires paying for it with ingame currency would be a good move. Players who dont want to do it have a reason to do other stuff, while those who do get rewarded for doing so by not having to go out of their way to farm those items/marks to pay for it.
I would happily watch Lotr 1 back to back for the entirety of my existence, you could have picked something less impeccable, Twilight maybe.... I do however agree with everything else in your statement!
The whole pub situation makes me think this was someone's first time designing a questline. Edit: oh well, this was posted in the wrong pub thread....
Perhaps we are meant to take a shot of a certain beverage every time we are told to hit the Pub? In that case let me just tell you that end boss fight gets a little tricksy...
It used to be a common practice in games. Forcing the player to keep backtracking lengthens the runtime substantially. If you've ever played Spartan Ops in Halo 4, you'd definitely recognize the technique. One mission is on one map segment from the single-player campaign. Next mission is on another map segment from the campaign. Next mission takes you back through the map from the first mission, but this time, going the other direction. Lather, rinse, repeat, and before you know it, you've got 24 Spartan Ops missions comprising about 30 hours of gameplay, and only 4 or 5 maps, all recycled from the campaign. It's okay -- it's relevant in this thread, too.
